Gemma had decided to dress up for the evening, something she didn't do all too often. She wasn't the richest woman in the world, but this Wednesday's Crup Night had pulled in a good turnout. She had 60 galleons she could spend, and hopefully it would get her a night out with a very beautiful woman.

She smiled at the girl manning the ticket sales. "Hey there, beautiful. Do you have any recommendations on who to bid on tonight?"

Dean was rather nervous about the raffle. Mostly though it wasn't to do with the raffle itself - although the crowd of people meant he wasn't going to be at his most comfortable even with the extra touch of calming draught he was permitted for such occasions - what was making him more nervous was bringing Ophelia along as his date. He hadn't planned to originally, but Susan had met and liked her and he'd suggested it earlier in the week, and when they'd spent Friday afternoon together she'd managed to distract him so well he was shocked. It was clearly time to introduce her to a few more people. Still, he was nervous walking into the pub.

"So, here's Finnigan's," he said, gesturing rather pointlessly. "Although it's not usually quite so packed when I'm around," he added, leading her through to where the event was being held.

He walked up to the table selling date tickets, staying close to Ophelia's side. "I'm only buying tickets for friends," he said, "I only want to go on actual dates with you." He pressed a quick kiss to her cheek and bought a couple of tickets for people he wouldn't mind spending time with. He didn't have that much to spare but the Foundation was a good cause, plus most of the dates sounded fairly entertaining things to do with a friend.

"We must go and buy drinks," Ophelia said when he was finished. "You can introduce me to your best friend, oui? You said he would be working."

"Yeah, he's working. He should be able to spare a minute though." They turned and headed for the bar, trying to dodge between the people milling around.

Since Percy was being raffled as one of the 'dates', he wouldn't be able to bid. Not wanting to participate in the fundraiser without contributing (particularly since he couldn't see himself raising that much for the Foundation), he stopped by the donation box and dropped in a bag with 20 galleons.

"It's the least I can do," he said to himself as the coins clinked in the box.

Hannah wasn't confident enough to put herself on the auction block and she hadn't been able to break away from work early enough to place any bids. Still, she wanted to enjoy seeing who ended up with whom. As she entered the venue, Hannah put a few coins in the box labeled donations and made her way to the edges of the crowd to watch the announcement of the dates.

Alicia gave Adrian’s hand a squeeze and leaned up to press a chaste kiss to his lips, just for good luck and to steel herself off. This was by far not the first time that she had had to speak in front of this many people, but it was the first time that some of the focus on her hadn’t been entirely for the Foundation. Smoothing down the grey dress she had worn in Rome, she stepped up onto the podium, and cleared her throat, before casting a slight Sonorus on herself.

“Good evening,” she started, and stopped herself before she wiped her hands on her thighs again. “And thank you all for coming here tonight. Six years ago, when The Daniel Fawley Foundation was founded, we had never thought it would be more than us helping a handful of families to get back on their feet after suffering losses due to circumstances that most of them didn’t and probably won’t ever understand. Tonight, six years later, I am proud to say, that we have done so much more than that. During the annual trips to the Hogwarts express, the children have been introduced to people in a world they know nothing about. We have a nationwide network of people familiar with adolescent magic ready to step in with guidance and advice. We have provided financial need to those who couldn’t afford the materials required for school, and in the past couple of years, we have seen children we helped grown up and reaching out to help those who now are where they once were. That is just to name a few things, but one thing is clear, and that is that we couldn’t have done it without you.” Gesturing to the display of donations, she continued. “We have received an astounding amount of donations tonight, and not just for the raffle. Please, go take a look, so credit can be duly given.” Then she gestured to the jar with the raffle tickets. “On the raffle tickets alone, we have raised more than two thousand Galleons, which is…” She grinned and shook her head. “You people amaze me, in the best of all possible ways. So with that, and with a great thank you to Seamus for letting us occupy his pub tonight, to Dominic working his magic on the surroundings, to all the volunteers, to the participants, the donators and those who bought tickets; thank you so incredibly much. Now, let’s get some people raffled off, shall we?”
