Cronos overthrew his father Uranus, castrated him, and took ownership of the world. Zeus revolted against his father Cronos, taking the throne of Mount Olympus, forming the Olympian order. Rising up against father figures is a running theme in Greek mythology, if you didn't notice. While Zeus was in power, he threw all of Titans who opposed his rule into Tartarus, a level in the Underworld. His father Cronos, however, managed to escape to Italy where he became known as Saturn. In this new world, he was a minor deity. He came from a state of power and control, and his quest for power was unquenchable. He wanted power again so badly, but he waited. History repeats itself, and even the gods aren't safe. Ares tried to overthrow Zeus. Unlike history, he failed, leaving the gods standing divided, and arguing. This left the door open for Cronos to reclaim his position as ruler of the Gods.
Cronos took this opportunity to rise up from Italy, and reclaim his position as ruler of the gods. He slipped into Mount Olympus, undetected. And in a quick rage of chaos, he took over once again. He released the Titans out of Tartarus, before they angrily decided to cast all of the deities out of Mount Olympus, forcing them onto earth. Many were children of the Titans, who were discarded without more than a thought for being against Zeus' rule. Before the gods were sent down to earth, they were each given access to an Akashic journal. Each journal is like the chapter to an Akashic record, allowing all the gods, both pro and against to communicate with one another. They were also given a pin in the shape of a lighnting bolt to wear at all times, allowing the gods to identify one another. In the place of shapeshifting, providing a level playing field all around. A proposal was given to Ares before he left. Get his father to surrender, and omit those who have joined his alliance, and he would share the throne.
The earth is their playing field, as gods attempt to control one another. Events and natural disasters you might be familiar with, most likely was caused by a rebelling god. Unfortunately, with each passing decade they remain away from Olympus, they're becoming weaker. Originally sent onto earth on the winter solstice: December 21st, 1909. The 100th anniversary is just around the corner. Was this Cronos' plan all along? Without Zeus being apprehended, Ares cannot claim a spot on the throne. And if they wait much longer, soon he won't have to give it up to a powerless immortal. (finish reading?)
