Hey there! Nezu the Mod here. JB has stepped down from her position as Thread Index owner, because she has about a zillion other things (hint, see her post about her new books) going on in her life, and just writing her characters is more than enough work for her. That meant someone else needed to pick it up. Namely me. And I was, uh... Well, I don't have as good an excuse as JB, but anyway, I didn't get it done right away. But now it is updated!
Genma and Raidou are almost ready to leave the hospital, and have had a major development in their relationship: Raidou confessed to having kissed Genma when Genma was drunk. Genma's response? To kiss Raidou again, properly sober. (The Shadow Proves the Sunshine)
Rina visited Genma and is realizing her place in Genma's life has been eclipsed by Raidou. (Almost Not Alone)
Kakashi and Ginta are also still in the hospital. Ginta's in traction half the time, Kakashi's just woken up from a coma, and Ryouma is camped out at Kakashi's bedside. (Welcome to My Morning)
Hiro is continuing to develop his friendship with Ginta, giving Ginta something to do other than dwell on the situation with Kakashi and Ryouma and mope about being cooped up in bed. (The Little Things Give You Away)
Asuma and Tsume are still dealing with pirates and mistaken assumptions about each other's skill levels. (Kunoichi and Bastards)
Kuromaru is paying the price for Tsume's jutsu. (Coming and Going)
Ryuichi and Katsuko are waiting for the other shoe to drop, and working out their differences in fairly typical ANBU fashion: with a spar that stops just short of killing blows. (All You Can Take)
Haruichi has been taking missions but will be back soon to take Genma to task for having gotten himself injured again.
Yanagi is undercover somewhere, maybe even singing a song about Genma.
Ibiki is undoubtedly in the sub-basement.
Natsumi is working on rehabilitating her injured hand without letting her dad know she got hurt in the first place. Also possibly pining for Asuma.
Kaito is taking missions and still trying to master the concept of "charm" that Genma is so het up about.

There are also a couple of backstory threads you may have missed:
The Ballad of Shiranui Genma: Four years in the past, Yanagi and Genma's friendship got off to a rocky start. Yanagi had promised Genma a song when they parted. His method of delivery--a two AM serenade outside ANBU HQ--left a little to be desired, but Genma invited him in anyway. Yanagi was having a little trouble remembering just exactly who he was, but Genma turned out to have a hidden talent for reminding him.
Lost and Found : More recently, in early March Genma visited the infirmary to restock his medkit, and found Haruichi nearly catatonic in the aftermath of his unexpected meeting with Hiro. Genma did what any good friend would: he patched Haruichi up, took him upstairs, and poured him a stiff drink.

FUBAR: it's an acronym for a very special sort of military situation. One where a younger Genma finds himself fighting saboteurs on the roof of a power station, and one of his enemies turns out to be, in the words of Genma's mission report, on our own fucking side. The only way to keep from blowing Yanagi's cover is to throw the fight and make it look good.

Been wondering what's happened with Genma and Raidou? After the Rain is the next chapter in their story, and Hiro's as well.
After four days unconscious, Genma's only been awake a few hours, but already Intel has sent an agent to debrief him. At least it's one he knows. But unfortunately for Hiro, Raidou is not pleased.

Ginta's insisting he's not dying, but as his condition deteriorates, Kakashi is left with one desperate choice: overdose on soldier pills and run like hell for Konoha.

Bound and at the mercy of a notorious sadist from Mist, the concept of strength takes on a new meaning for both of them.

Genma got an earful from Kaito about Kaito's latest mission partner Natsumi, in Girls Girls Girls. And Natsumi got an earful from Ibiki about Genma in Slow Dancing in a Burning Room.
In Playing Doctor Genma and Natsumi get to see for themselves what all the fuss was about. Natsumi wakes Genma from a post-mission nap and a mid-day dream to ask for a little hands-on healing. Under polite talk of cherry blossom viewing, there are several questions simmering, not least of which are: Is this the hot chick Kaito was so worked up about? and How on earth can he possibly think these dishes match?
Ibiki's going to be so disappointed when he learns Genma was a perfect gentleman.

Even in the midst of exams, we managed to take a brief break to give you something that'll, hopefully, make this week a bit brighter. Kakashi's back from his mission, and now he and Ryouma are heading out on another. Check out Stand Your Ground and Watch Me Burn, the first two threads of a four-thread arc. We've been working on this one for over eight months, guys, and it's a doozy. You won't want to miss out!
And if it helps at all to whet your curiosity, you can think of this thread as: Kakashi and Ryouma go clubbing! Now with added dead bodies!
Parts III and IV should be following soon. In the meantime, feedback is AWESOME.
