Smoking Sunsets

Logan was completely aware he was being antisocial. In fairness to him, he knew he'd have time on the train to be social once more, but he had every intention of taking advantage of the quiet time while he had it. Sure, people could find him if they put their mind to it, and sure, one of the paths went right by his cabin, but he didn't think most people had a reason to seek him out. The ones who did, well, he didn't mind their company. If he was really bent on avoiding them all, he would have climbed higher up to one of the more secluded cabins. But if they wanted to make the effort to find him, he guessed he could at least make it slightly easier on them. While Logan was just as suspicious as several of the other seemed to be, he wasn't letting it get to him. In the end, they were prisoners, victims of the train's whim. They'd get back on, and things would proceed as normal. People would be screwed over, some way or another, by the train's newest event. It would last a week or two, everyone would bitch about it -- or be relieved they were missed -- and the next event would take over. Eventually they'd stop, and if they were lucky, they'd have a reprieve. If not, they'd be fighting pirates or dealing with a super flu or something. The best he could hope for was that everyone who wanted to stay, did, and the people who wanted to go home were sent there. That was far too much to hope for though. Shifting in the sturdy rocking chair, Logan turned his eyes toward the setting sun. The sunsets were nice out here; he had to give them that. If this really was a planet (or reality or whatever) set aside specifically for the resort ... it was a nice place. Lighting up one of his cigars, Logan exhaled softly and just listened to the faint sounds drifting up from the resort proper. |
