Drabble Day 2018: A Record-Breaking Rainbow of Results
So, dearest Cinna, I was saying to the girls, lilithilien and aldiara, I mean, their intentions are ever so good, but they've got no eye for colour at all, have they-
[Effie? We're live.]
...so I told them (and you know I am the very soul of diplomacy, so you can be quite sure I phrased it very delicately), I told them all about shading and palettes, and how you need to time these things quite precisely...
...and I really wish they'd consulted me before they ended up with a rookie mistake like clustering all their blues together in an unappealing clump and then panicking when they ended up with nothing but pinks and yellows at the end...
[EFFIE. You're live. Everyone can both hear and see you. Could you not embarrass us on camera, love?]
...oh, of course! I am so sorry, darlings!
Welcome, welcome, to this very special announcement about the 2018 Drabble Day results!
[Don't forget about your co-host.]
Must I?
[Yes, yes, you must. You agreed, remember? You were sober and everything.]
SIGH. Oh, very well. For this unique occasion, I have a very special co-host....
...
I SAID, A VERY SPECIAL CO-HOST...
lol, sure yeh
[Effy? You agreed too, remember. We're giving you spliff and everything.]
Ok fine. Hi, I'm Effy Stonem, and I'm co-hosting this... whatever... because I have the misfortune of sharing a name with this embarrassing crayola explosion and also they promised me drugs.
...well, that's splendid, I'm sure. Please welcome with me my beautiful co-host, Effy Stonem.
lol hi.
...as I was saying, the results are in and they are just TRANSCENDENT, MARVELLOUS, EXQUISITE, EXCEEDING THE REALMS OF THE POSSIBLE.
they're ok, yeah, i guess.
Dear, I suggest you just stand there and look... adorably retro, I suppose.
If we are all quite ready for the results...
[yes, please, that is literally the only reason anyone is here.]
Yes, well, here we go!
This year's Drabble Day was astounding in every way: records were broken left, right, and centre, and I am assured by an expert on the subject that several rules of the time-space continuum were broken in hitherto undiscovered ways.
It's absolutely true.
That's great, dear. Do call me about your wardrobe, because I have concerns.
Without further ado...
[omg, you've had enough ado already to last us five years!]
...ahem! Here are the results you have all waited for!
Drabble Day 2018 has been spectacular: for starters, the total amount of drabbles produced has surpassed previous years by a landslide, with a number of 235 drabbles produced for a total of 64 fandoms, also breaking the previous record!
Shut up, dear, it is perfectly acceptable to show excitement!
That's quite alright, my dear. I understand. It makes you vulnerable to show enthusiasm, so you play it all cool, until there's nothing left of you but smoke and mirrors. It doesn't do you any favours. Don't deny your colours.
...
Now, let's carry on...
The complete list of fandoms is as follows:
A Song of Ice and Fire

Now, isn't that just spectacular?? I think that deserves some extra colour!
And as for individual accomplishments...
This year, moderator lilithilien took home the prize for most drabbles written with a total of 70 drabbles, breaking the record of totals not just for this year but for all previous years as well, in what must surely be the longest drabble sequence of all times! Her co-mod assures me that none of these were pre-written, and neither did Lil neglect her banner-making, moderating, chatting-with-co-host, or reading/commenting/tweeting duties, so the only conclusion we can come to is that she somehow broke the bounds of the space/time continuum or obtained several clones. Or she is just that awesome. It is possible.
Far, far behind, but still rather formidable, were your co-mod aldiara with a total of 43 drabbles (one of these days, we will discover how these ladies make banners, write drabbles, read, mod, and comment and utterly refuse to sleep, and monetise that shit), followed by amyriadfthings taking the bronze with a total of 31 drabbles, composed of Shoebox Project magic, Please Like Me baked-goods-and-feels, and tireless enthusiasm. In fourth place with 25 drabbles is amo_amas_amat, who gets special adoration for her variety of fandoms, which ranked from The Bard himself to Titanic poetry produced in less than thirty minutes.
In fifth place was omarandjohnny with 24 drabbles, faithfully producing one drabble per hour for his beloved fandom of Emmerdale. I am quite tired of how many times mod aldiara informed me, "He's like clockwork, that boy is," so please, let him have some applause.
Next up, we have notoriouslyuniq with 19 drabbles in an admirable variety of fandoms; spaghettitoes with 17 drabbles, keeping us rooted in science, feels and crack despite interfering social obligations; winterlover with 6 drabbles, also in defiance of time zones, and rocking the bandom; alsha, resisting the post-nightshift lure of sweet slumber with 3 drabbles; and momogermany, getting in a defiant 1 drabble despite being busy at work.
Let's have some applause for them, shall we?
...
[Effie? It's ok, promise. They're just drabbles. Carry on.]
Right, well, Crayola Girl's a bit busy with her powder puff. Anyway, uhm... well done, I guess? I don't know what to tell you. Look, she's left me a list for future reference, if you ever do colours or any fashion thing again, you need to plan for it. ...she's not wrong, you know. I understand that time is hard...
Sometimes you think you can do anything...
...and sometimes you just want time to stop...
Oh, Effy, love, enough! I'm sure nobody feels that way!
[er, yeah. at hour 18, too far from the coffee and too far from the wine, with no notion of words and a vague memory of sleep or inspiration, we absolutely feel that way.]
But ANYWAY, next time all you have to do is ask me or any other fashion professional! You need to have your colours modelled professionally, like this:
turquoise
azure
green
ivory
(I'm scared, Effie, what is happening?!)
cerulean (it's alright, my lovely, just keep on smiling!)
magenta
crimson
cyan
I heard you needed a model for pink??
LOL THE FUCK IS THAT???
uhm, no thanks, we're quite alright.
...and you also want to get in some less attention-hungry shades, like orange and umber...
idk what colour I'm supposed to be and I feel very uncomfortable.
LAVENDER I THINK
All the colours, my dears, and then look at what order they should go in.
That's real pretty, Effie.
Interesting. You guys gonna fuck, or what?
you think that's any of your business?
really, Johanna, dear. What Effy and I do after this event...
[AHEM. Thanks for that mic, ladies, and for the highly professional hosting job. We love you all, beautiful mad drabbling enthusiasts. See you next year! <33333333333333333333333]
