Fuck it.

I'm throwing a party. I don't see the point in being a fucking stupid billionaire if I can't throw a party sometimes. What the hell, right? Seriously. We all need a break. Everybody can just chill and there can be some good music. Pretty basic concept but I've noticed that people seem mildly keyed up since monsters fucked up half the town and we all got dragged into a hide and go seek in the dark game with fucking nutbar crazy people.

So yeah. Party somewhere. Place yet to be decided. Give me some input. My apartment isn't big enough.

You're not worried we'll push each other over the ledge, and your party will turn Henry James unexpectedly?

Don't know what that means, I'm guessing bad. Is that like that cockney slang?

I think people always do stupid shit at parties. I just want them to do normal stupid shit like sleep with people they shouldn't and stuff, not explode things and take over brains.

He's a writer. He wrote the Turn of the Screw, which is a novella, a brilliant ghost story where the reader can't tell if the nanny is insane, or really experiencing ghosts. It's like us, like our situation.

There's nothing in between? It's either one or the other, with no room for creativity in the center?

Why do I care about the nanny though? Why do I give a shit if she sees ghosts? No, I know what our situation is. We have fictional characters in our brains. I may have shitty days, but you're not going to convince me we all just made this up, not after the stuff that happened last week.

Well nobody said that man.

She's the heroine of the novel. You care because picking up the book and cracking open the spine means you're willing to become lost in the story, her story. You're not a reader. I'm finding most people here aren't. I didn't try to convince you of anything. Are you always this defensive?

You did, actually.

I didn't realize she was the heroine because you said she's the nanny. I thought the heroes in old books were always high class people. Look I like reading, I just don't read novels. I read philosophy mostly. I'm not defensive man I just don't like it when people mention stuff and expect me to know it and then make me feel stupid for not knowing it, which seems like what you're doing. People on say stuff like "oh shit this party is going to get henry james all up in this motherfucker" because they want to smirk at you if you don't know who the fuck henry james or his nanny friend is, or because they want to high five if the person knows who henry james is and it's a test to see if they're worth talking to. so don't call me fucking defensive when you started it.

whatever.

The book was published in 1898, and a nanny was considered a member of the household at that time, above the servants. Most of them were high-born girls without dowry to recommend them, and they worked as governesses to survive. I didn't expect you to know anything. You made that assumption on your own. I gave you the synopsis of a novel, and you asked why you should care about the only character I mentioned. Clearly that character was important to the story, or I would have refrained from any mention at all. I didn't start anything; I was merely explaining my comment. You are, possibly, the most defensive person I have ever encountered.

Whatever, indeed. I will have to write that down, that most brilliant and philosophical comeback, for future use. I can't believe I didn't think of it myself.

Right back at you. And nothing you said made what I said wrong. You seem like you're seriously into you being smart. I didn't know any of that shit. Why the fuck would I? Congratulations. You're smart. You win a fuck off huge gold star.

Sarcasm thing make you feel better?

I never said you were wrong. I will leave you to your defensiveness. Good evening.
