[She has to pause here, because she can't believe what she's reading.] Last I saw her, she was dying in a bed and couldn't walk or talk or do any of the things the rest of us can still do just fine. Missing, that's supposed to make it all go away? Honey, you best learn some about life before you have that baby. Murderers are terrible folks. There isn't any middle ground. No one took a shot at any of ours before we did this. We did this, and we caused every damn shot after. You might want to think on that before you tell folks to be grateful, or you're going to lose everyone except Alexander. I'm kin to him, and I'd rather be dead than left with nothing but that man.

Learn about life? Why does everyone seem to think I'm some naive child who hasn't experienced anything for herself? I've lost someone too, and I'd be grateful as hell if it had failed to kill him because I would still have him here by my side. Life is too damned short to be hating as much as everyone seems to be doing! Not saying anyone has to get along and be friends and inviting one another to tea, but...

I wouldn't tell them this, anyways. No one thinks the way I do, so maybe I am a stupid little girl like everyone likes to say.
