[ The rooms are all situated in a guest wing, and the boys and girls have been set up in rooms on opposite sides of the hall. A couple rooms remain empty. Shenanigans/getting unpacked/getting settled/getting ready to go to the beach/running amok in the hallway/stressing over the opposite sex being so close is for here. ]

Misaki laid out the suitcase, backpack and travel bag with her on the bed and carefully unzipped the first one. Flipping over the lid she pulled out her garments and folded them neatly as she got a glance around her room. There was a lone canopy bed covered with a ocean blue blanket and matching covers with a white birch dresser and matching wardrobe on opposing sides of the room. A sandalwood writing desk that had an antique feel to it in that it opened up like two doors, and had several smaller drawers inside for pens, stationary, seals and whatever a person needing to write wanted. There was a bathroom that had a western style toilet but no bath, decorated in sea green. A full body mirror stood near the wardrobe, there was no closet, but there was storage under the bed, and a step to get up to it. There was also a night stand and a small reading area near the bed, with an elegant tiffany lamp designed to look like coral and sea shells.

Misaki smiled some, whoever decorated this room had the intention of keeping a theme going, which she could appreciate. Putting away her dresses and other clothing, she looked around the room, touching everything. She figured that she wouldn't be in this sort of elegance for a long while. Walking over to the windows, she ran her finger over the silk like drapes that fluttered in a small breeze and she soon discovered that the windows were really a set of doors that opened out into a small walk out balcony that jutted out over a spectacular view of the beach. There were two lounge chairs and a small table made out of wicker.

Laughing some she took a seat in one of the chairs and sighed. This was living. She had been worried about staying in a room all to herself. If this was a way of Kanaye getting even with her. Maybe this was a way of him saying he was sorry? She wasn't sure but she liked the room and resolved herself to enjoy it while she could. Getting up she went over to her suitcase and tucked it under the bed, then opened up the travel bag and pulled out several stuffed animals including her rabbit, which she set up on the bed.

"Make yourselves comfortable, my dear sirs and ladies," Misaki said and bowed to them. "I hope you like your stay here at the beach house."

She next pulled fabric and various sewing items, and a few cooking tools. She figured if they were going to at all do this she would have to not think about Keiichi very much. Pulling apart the fabric she tucked them away in the second storage drawer under the bed, along with a sewing basket. She also pulled from this her lap top, cords and a small sewing machine that was light to carry and came in four pieces. This she also put in the storage area, and set up the lap top on the desk, carefully tucking the cords away so that they didn't bother anyone, or make for a garish sight in the eye pleasing room.

Running her hand through her hair she thought a moment then pulled apart the back pack, after putting the travel bag in the suitcase, and pulled out several books, two mysteries, three magazines, and four books on sewing. She also pulled out two sketch books, a bag that had her toothpaste, hair care and bathroom toiletries. Placing these in the night stand, and bathroom, Misaki also picked up her MP3 player, put her earphones on and grabbed a book. Walking out into the balcony she sat down, took a deep breath and started to read. She partly hoped that someone would come knocking just so she could show them the room and snuggled into the chair.

Maeko did knock. Seiko had mentionned something about how Misaki would be doing on her own and she was concerned.

She still wasn't quite sure how she felt about Misaki. But she didn't want to leave her by herself too much, especially not after everything with Keiichi. She waited quietly for an answer.

Misaki easily walked to the door after hearing the light knocking and opened it some to peek out, "Yes? Oh Maeko-chan!"

She smiled pleasently and waved her in. "Come in! I just finished putting things away. What do you think?"

[ The private beach is gorgeous and well-kept with very little debris on the shore. There's a volleyball net set up nearby, several umbrellas, a couple of cabanas, and an unmanned snack bar with "HAPPY HOUR TIME" written in English on the front. No one is attending it, but it seems to be stocked with snacks.

At the deepest point that is not to be swum-past for most (conveniently marked with rocks), the water is chest-deep on the boys of average height. It gets deeper a further out, and there are handsails, surfboards and sea-doos in the garage ready for use. Inner tubes and other beach toys are also available. ]

Toru had forced himself to go outdoors. You were supposed to do that at the beach, right? Or perhaps if you didn't, Kanaye would nag at you until you did. So if you looked closely underneath the furthest umbrella from the water's edge, you'd see some pale thing there, sitting miserably on a towel with a (bland name) PSP in hand. On closer inspection, it was just Toru.

After a while, he sat back and just stared at the ocean. I wish I could've come here sooner... the real world isn't so ugly, is it?

The furthest umbrella, naturally, was near where Kiriko had chosen to set up her tanning spot. If she noticed Toru while laying out her towel, she made no indication of it, content to hum to herself while she put on the designer sunglasses she'd picked up for the occasion and stretched out on the sand. Eventually she looked over at Toru, chewing on the straw of her fruity drink and lifting an eyebrow.

"Why are you sitting in the shade? You need sun more than any of us."

Just as Kiriko ignored him, Toru had mostly ignored Kiriko. For him, it was easy enough to tune out the people all around him to concentrate on whatever he deemed most important. That ability had a tendency to fail when he was actually talked to, however.

"I'll get sunburned," was his reply. The truth was that he'd not thought things through enough to actually bring sunscreen, and had only realized the grave flaw in his plans once he was much closer to his destination than the house. His compromise was going to be hiding under an umbrella until the sun lowered a bit in the sky.

"...a-and, well... I didn't really want to come out here, but... I'm s'posed to, right?"

"She sells sea shells by the sea shore," Misaki swirled around the tongue twister as she walked along the beach dressed in a purple bikini with a wrap around her waist. Swinging along as she walked was a pale green and blue bucket that clearly was something that a child might carry with them to make sand castle. However this one rattled with the sound of many tiny clinking noises.

As she walked she looked up and waved at Kiriko and toru, "Hello. You two wouldn't want to help hunt for sea shells would you?"

A large inner tube was floating around near the rocks. At first glance it seemed to be abandonned but every now and then the top of a head could be seen emerging from the middle of it.

Maeko had somehow managed to fall through the hole in the middle of the inner tube. She would be more annoyed about this development and about her inability to climb back up into it but she was enjoying the calm. And she hadn't been eaten by a fish yet.

That had, of course, been a major concern.

Seiko was stood at the edge of the water staring out across the sea. Under her arm was a large orange and lime green inner tube that Kanaye had lent to her. She hadn't really been surprised by the colour and she was looking forward to finally getting in the water. She looked around for a moment in hope of coming across someone to ask (force) into coming into the sea with her. After all it would be more fun with someone else.

Some of the others were down the beach, but she couldn't make out who they were so didn't want to call out to them.

Masami, dressed in a daring red sports bikini, had set up her beach umbrella and spread her towel out in the shade underneath it. While it certainly was tempting to just lay down on the towel, close her eyes, and relax to the sound of the waves crashing against the beach, Masami decided that she might as well take advantage of the water and go for a swim, so she left her little setup where it was and headed down.

She stopped near Seiko at the water's edge to just gaze out over the ocean to the horizon. "It's a nice view, isn't it Yukizaki-senpai?"

Seiko turned to greet Masami with a smile, the huge obnoxiously coloured inner tube swinging as she spun round.

"Masami-chan! Hey!" she nodded her head enthusiastically. "Its so beautiful here, so calm. It feels really safe, getting away from Iburi is just what I think we all needed."

She eyed Masami's bikini and sighed. "My Mother repacked my bag-" she gestured to the revealing bikini she was wearing. "-otherwise I'd be wearing the swimsuit you helped me pick out Masami-chan."

Well, it would've been a perfect time to get to know people, including people that were in his class. He never realized how good he was at blending in with the classroom walls until he discovered none of the other recognized him. Granted, class 3-B was easy to get lost in. There were plenty of noisier students in the class. Oh well. He didn't really care, but how in the world did he begin getting to know these people. From what he had seen so far they weren't that bad, just... an interesting group of people to have together.

Isao had put on his pink plaid swim trunks and headed out to the beach along with everyone else with the good intention of having a few good conversations. At least until he spotted an unused shovel and pail. This was the first time he had been to a real beach in quite some time, so he felt no shame in doing something he hadn't done in years. He was going to build a sand castle first.

He found a spot, started digging and building up a mound of sand, and attempted to form some sort of structure. He was nothing of an architect, but at least the foundation didn't appear too misshapen.

"Hey, are you making a sandcastle?"

Up from her alloted tanning time and on her way to the shore with a towel slung over one shoulder, Kiriko paused to investigate this apparently fascinating development. She canted her head, then knelt to better inspect his progress, glancing at an untended bucket and smoothing the damp sand inside of it level.

"I haven't built one since I was a kid." She grinned. Fun memories of lopsided and inevitably doomed sandcastles were drifting through her mind. She could probably make something bigger, better and a lot more water-resistant now, but for the moment she was content to watch Isao do it under pretense of getting-to-know-you conversation.

"You're a third year, right, Shimohama-san?"

"I guess so," Isao replied flatly, remaining focused on the work. It may not have been the most decisive answer in the world, but at the beginning stages it was hard to tell. He was going for a castle, but somehow he did have a sinking feeling that it was going to turn out more like a more generic building of some kind. "It's been a few years since I've even been to the beach."

He was hesitant to give much more to the conversation than another nod. However, that would've been counter productive to the intentions he had set out with. He was great at blending in with wallpaper, so he shouldn't try to blend in with the sand, too. And it was a good start seeing as she appeared to be one of the more normal people to talk with.

"Yeah, that's right," he finally looked over at her and nodded. "And you're... a first year? How is that going for you?"

Fishing
[info]daioujou
2010-02-26 12:05 am UTC (link)
It was the next day after arriving at the private beach, and Kouchisei had already decided Kanaye Satou had no dignity. This was too ostentatious. Large. Show-offish.

More difficult was the ability to accept the freedom to distract himself with things when previous things had been tightly controlled and safe. The route to preserving his sanity had begun with begrudging acceptance instead of being rude about the matter - he avoided making a fool of himself. It was a trial but it was also something he had grown used to, and what got him through life's problems.

He'd half-forget his problems fishing for crabs. Surf-fishing was what his dad had called it. Shallow bays, creeks - the whole business with fresh and frozen bait made him queasy for a second, and then he would let his father hook it on the line and do the work. However, he was older now. He sat cross-legged, line in hand, watching the tide push forward and then retreat. It was good to leave his thoughts and conscience on the run.

He was a little unsure at first since this was the first time he'd done it alone, but his father had seemed happy when he'd asked and now he saw why he liked it so much.

Wandering along the beach in the daytime, Misaki had been mulling over the chance to talk to Keiichi. It was strange to her, she didn't like the idea of being dumped, but at the same time she was okay with it in a way. It was part of life, she guessed, and while it did hurt and anger her some, she still cared about Keiichi, so it was weird feelings that were bubbling up and down inside her. Walking did wonders for this, it made her calm, able to breath. She wondered if maybe she could ever buy a house down here and just sit by herself...thinking.

Half way through her walk she noticed Kouchisei sitting in the sand with a line in his lap near the tide. She crossed over quietly, walking a bit in the water, then back over to where he was. Putting her feet in was the first step to overcoming her fear of what was in the water. So long as she didn't get any weird fungus on her feet she'd put her legs in next time.

Smiling some she leaned over some to look where his line was cast, "What are you doing Oubai-senpai?"

Kouchisei was holding the line firmly, waiting for any movement. His reaction to Misaki's voice was a delayed one; he shifted his legs, freeing the left that had frozen, and then tucked them back under.

"Fishing," he said, not giving her more to go on. There weren't a lot of people here who he felt would make good company, personally. They were all too different.

[ There's a team dinner after the day's beaching. Kanaye's beach house was clearly built to entertain, as if the guest wing and its psuedo-hotel setup wasn't enough of a tip off. Kouchisei sat down and rested his hands on the table, then one reached underneath it and pulled a book off his lap so he could read it on the surface. Being here where everything was done for you was not what he was used to - his father said it made you lazy, and that it was done by familes who had no history.

He still felt unsure about how he was fitting in with these people, but knew he did not want their attention. There was a thought then asking why he made things difficult, as if he wanted it but sabotaged his efforts at the same time.

He was more comfortable with things at arm's length, he decided. He continued to read his book.

Upon coming to the conclusion that he was too hungry to ignore it, Toru tried to discreetly follow the rest of the group to the dining hall. The decorations and array of food dazzled him- he actually took a long moment to stand and absorb the scenery. Afterward, he realized how awkward his behavior must have been, and scurried off towards the food.

After making his selections (mostly pastries, one fruit he didn't recognize but thought looked pretty, and the buffet equivalents of his cheap konbini standards), he took one of the many empty seats, and began to eat.

Dinner among mixed company was always a little tricky to navigate. She was friendly enough with the group so there was no sense in playing dainty, but someone was bound to tease her if she filled the plate up too much. Eventually she'd decided on several smaller plates in slow succession. Ultimately, she figured her bikini body would speak for itself.

She was passing by Toru at the happy end of this conclusion when she glanced down and noticed the boy. Despite his height he had a curious lack of presence in her mind and she hadn't noticed him at first. She'd supervised earlier in the day while he swam - well, flailed. He looked kind of like a cat drowning in a puddle, but exercise was exercise.

She was about to say hello when she noticed his plate. Wordlessly, she swiped it out from under him, setting her plate down on the table momentarily to snatch up an empty one.

"Ishinomori-kun, you can't eat this." She glanced up from the table to the pastry plate, pausing to take a bite of one before resuming what she'd been doing. She slid the finished plate in front of Toru, snatching the last half-eaten pastry from his hand and picking up her plate again. The replacement meal looked a great deal less appetizing than pastries.

"What's the point of exercising if you eat like that? If you want anything else, you have to ask me first."

There's a games room with dart boards and a pool table, a big jacuzzi in one of the bathrooms, a movie collection (half of them American and dubbed) and accompanying big screen TV, some consoles that, judging from the taste in games, Kanaye himself appears to have brought with him, and of course, a big opulent house to explore.
