Fishing

It was the next day after arriving at the private beach, and Kouchisei had already decided Kanaye Satou had no dignity. This was too ostentatious. Large. Show-offish.

More difficult was the ability to accept the freedom to distract himself with things when previous things had been tightly controlled and safe. The route to preserving his sanity had begun with begrudging acceptance instead of being rude about the matter - he avoided making a fool of himself. It was a trial but it was also something he had grown used to, and what got him through life's problems.

He'd half-forget his problems fishing for crabs. Surf-fishing was what his dad had called it. Shallow bays, creeks - the whole business with fresh and frozen bait made him queasy for a second, and then he would let his father hook it on the line and do the work. However, he was older now. He sat cross-legged, line in hand, watching the tide push forward and then retreat. It was good to leave his thoughts and conscience on the run.

He was a little unsure at first since this was the first time he'd done it alone, but his father had seemed happy when he'd asked and now he saw why he liked it so much.

Wandering along the beach in the daytime, Misaki had been mulling over the chance to talk to Keiichi. It was strange to her, she didn't like the idea of being dumped, but at the same time she was okay with it in a way. It was part of life, she guessed, and while it did hurt and anger her some, she still cared about Keiichi, so it was weird feelings that were bubbling up and down inside her. Walking did wonders for this, it made her calm, able to breath. She wondered if maybe she could ever buy a house down here and just sit by herself...thinking.

Half way through her walk she noticed Kouchisei sitting in the sand with a line in his lap near the tide. She crossed over quietly, walking a bit in the water, then back over to where he was. Putting her feet in was the first step to overcoming her fear of what was in the water. So long as she didn't get any weird fungus on her feet she'd put her legs in next time.

Smiling some she leaned over some to look where his line was cast, "What are you doing Oubai-senpai?"

Kouchisei was holding the line firmly, waiting for any movement. His reaction to Misaki's voice was a delayed one; he shifted his legs, freeing the left that had frozen, and then tucked them back under.

"Fishing," he said, not giving her more to go on. There weren't a lot of people here who he felt would make good company, personally. They were all too different.
