it's my party and i'll cry if i want to...
Who: Kozue and the adoring public You
What: Festivities
Where: Bar Kidnap
When: July 21
Why: Because of presents and alcohol.

True to her word, Kozue had established herself in the VIP area of Bar Kidnap—still pretending to be blissfully unaware of the frightening or ominous implications of the name. She hadn't gone to much (or any) trouble to prove that this was a birthday party, however; she was dressed up, in an outfit a bit scantier than her normal going-out attire. She was sporting a green, sequin-covered minidress and a pair of heels of a ridiculous height. And her hair was even more carefully arranged than normal.

The VIP area was situated on a balcony, overlooking the rest of the club; from there, Kozue was engaged in chatting amicably with one of the older girls from the tennis club, but her attention kept drifting to the entrance downstairs. More people should show up. There weren't nearly enough for the party to be genuinely successful. So, every few moments, she cast a nervous glance downstairs.

The club itself wasn't all that packed; it was a weeknight, after all, and if any of the actual grown-up patrons noticed the steady stream of highschoolers, they weren't making a fuss. And the bouncers had either been bribed very efficiently, or were under instructions not to care, either.

Kozue glanced down at Kiriko's feet and grinned—"Those shoes are great! Where did you get them? They're so shiny!" She flipped her hair over her shoulder, and then smoothed down her own dress, feeling pleased that someone had noticed it. "Thanks," she continued, either to the compliment, the well-wish about her birthday, or both.

"Do you want a drink? Satou-senpai brought this really crazy Western beer." She'd have claimed it as American, but what the hell did she know? It was non-Japanese and tasty and non-Japanese and had she already thought about that? "Might be some left if I can find him." She raised her own glass, still about half full.

"Thanks! I got them from this great little boutique downtown, and I picked up a couple other things too." Kiriko glanced at the giftbag with a sly smile. It was hardly subtle, but teasing the birthday girl was always fun, and anticipation would only make her present all the better - not that there was any chance Kozue wouldn't like the cute heels Kiriko had picked out for her or the accompanying gift certificate.

"Don't trouble yourself if you can't find any. I'll just start with a cooler or something."

"Eh, maybe I'll stumble across him. Either way, they have good stuff here," Kozue said, nodding toward the VIP section bar, at which more and more of their classmates were gradually gathering, taking advantage of the lack-of-ID-checking. "And, ooh," she grinned again, trying to figure out what Kiriko had meant, precisely. Things like—like present things? "Well, they're really styling."
