Kanaye was puzzled. He didn't have soccer practice, the day for the drama club was still a decent way off, Maeko was busy, he couldn't get on the student council, and he couldn't think of a reason to argue with his parents. Needless to say, he was quite bored. This seemed to be a theme. With nothing to do, he used his time stupidly by wandering around the school, hoping that someone would talk to him.

Kanaye shook his head. "It's a festival, and there will be others, true. But come on, Misaki-san. Now is the perfect time to have some fun!" he shouted happily. "But thanks for the tip, Misaki-san. I'm sure she'll love it."

Kanaye laughed a bit before attempting to disguise it as a cough. Keiichi? Really? "Keiichi-san? Well, I'm happy for you then!" he said, jumping to conclusions. He was good at that, so why not do it a lot?

"Ah, er...thank you. Fun depends on what you mean. I suppose I can have some fun. I just...It's going to be hard seeing Akuba-san there. I'm not going to avoid her, and if she thinks I am she's dead wrong." Misaki said with a huff.

"Mmmm, I don't know...I guess we kind of are going out. I'm not really sure. I don't know anything really about that sort of thing so..." Misaki shrugged some lightly embaressed slightly.

Kanaye facepalmed. "Seriously Misaki-san, I knew you two got into an argument but that doesn't mean you have to be mean to each other suddenly now. It's kind of sad, really." he said with a sigh.

Kanaye chuckled. "You and me both, Misaki-san. I've had all of ONE relationship, and...that didn't turn out well. This seems to be a theme." he said sadly before brightening. "Oh well, Keiichi doesn't seem the type to know what's going on, but you ARE going to get compared to Kozue, so get used to that."

"I'm not trying to be mean. She's the one that doesn't want anything to do with me. 'I said I'd protect you, not be your friend.' that's not how it works! It's like saying 'I said I'd go out with you, not be your girlfriend.'" She shook her head. "She would rather I basically make other friends and avoid her. So that's what I've been doing. She said that I was an imaginary Misaki to her. I just...all I ever really wanted was for her to be happy Sempai. Was that really too much to ask for?"

She paused and looked at him oddly, "Compared to what Kozue-chan...what do you mean like..what was it my sister said to me, 'It's like you're his rebound.' But really I don't get what that means."

Kanaye sighed. This was going to take a while... "She simply wants to stop depending on you. You were pretty much her only friend and her only reason for existence for a while. She's simply trying to change and become a better person, and she wants you to do the same. You two have been relying on each other since you met. She's just trying to get her life back on track and she's doing the same for you. She's just taking it too far. I know you want her to be happy. Just help her out by humoring her for a bit. Calm down, Misaki-san. I'll try to get Maeko-chan to do the same, alright? It's the least I could do." Kanaye finished his speech with a smile. It sounds nice and it makes him look like he was going to do something. He had absolutely no intention of trying to repair Misaki and Maeko's friendship, of course, but she didn't need to know that, right?

Kanaye nodded and stretched, bored. "It's the way a person's mind works. They subconsciously judge everything by their past experiences. I wouldn't worry, though. In most categories, you are much better then Kozue. I would warn you, however, do not be surprised if he seems sullen, maybe even disappointed, after your first time. Kozue has had more experience in that matter, after all." he said with a grin.

"But being around her was helping me be a better person Sempai. If not for being friends with Mae..with Akuba-san, then I wouldn't have had the courage to talk to anyone. Knowing that she was there, gave me a strenght because I knew that if I really needed a hand to hold or someone to talk to, I knew she was going to be there for me." Misaki explained and then nodded, "Alright, you promise you'll talk to her about it?"

"First time? What do you mean by first time? I mean...he wouldn't excpect me to...I...I don't think I'm ready for something like that, Sempai. Better in most catagories?" Misaki looked at him confused.

Kanaye twitched. "Misaki-san, that's exactly the point that Maeko-chan is getting about. You were relying on her too much, and thus both of you were becoming weaker. I don't support her dropping you THAT fast, but I can see where she's coming from. I'll talk to her about it, don't worry." he continued with a lying smile.

Kanaye nodded. "He wouldn't expect you to put out any time soon, most likely. He's too much of a romantic for that. But it's going to happen eventually and chances are you'll compare unfavorably with Kozue. On the other hand, you are much nicer," he continued, still nodding. "which is always good."

"I'm not relying on her, I...I just like having her around. I like making her happy Sempai," Misaki tried to explain. "She was the first person to really make me happy, and I don't want to lose that."

She twiched some hearing this, "Why would he expect me to do...I mean..." Misaki paled at the thought and bit her lip. "You don't expect Akuba-sempai to do such a thing? Do you sempai?"

"True," Kanaye continued constantly, "but Maeko thought that is the only thing you were wanting to do: make her happy. And her entire existence dedicated to making YOU happy. That thing that Keiichi said she did? I wouldn't be surprised if she actually DID do that. She simply wants to change herself and she can't do that if you're there."

"He would probably just expect you to talk to him, let him help you with your problems, vice versa. At least at first. Don't worry about it, Misaki-san. It's to be expected. And...what's this about Maeko-chan? You are confusing me, Misaki-san." he finished with a puzzled look on his face.

"But she already made me happy by being my friend! That made me happier then anything. Just her being my friend!" Misaki sighed and shook her head. "Well she won't have to worry for too much longer. There's the possiblity that my mother might be sending me to Tokyo to study near my sister."

"But why would it be expected? I mean are you intending to..." she swallowed some, "have her be your lover."

"She knows that, Misaki-san!" he shouted angrily. "She's trying to change HERSELF. Changing YOU is merely an added bonus!" Kanaye was getting somewhat annoyed now. "Oh, yes, that's gonna end well. Knowing you, you'll end up in paradise." Kanaye scoffed, somewhat quieter. "And we won't be there to help. Try to convince her otherwise, alright?"

Kanaye blinked. THAT was what she was worried about? He started laughing. "Misaki-san, MOST relationships involve that sometimes. Some more then others." he stated, eyes flicking to Kozue for a second. "I, for one, wouldn't say no to Maeko-chan if asked, but I'm not going to press her for it or anything. I'm better then that."

Kanaye rolled his eyes. "I know that, Misaki-san, but sometimes people have to do the wrong thing so they know what the right thing is. It gives them life experience." he said, before his voice took a more scathing tone...somewhat. "Try. Harder. Run away. Don't let her get to you. Complain about it at every possible moment. Otherwise? You have no right to complain."

Kanaye smiled. "Anytime soon? No. Eventually? Most likely if it gets that far. See you soon, Misaki-san!" he finished with a smile before turning to Kozue and Masami and walking towards them. He nodded to the two. "I DO apologize for that little scene, but quite frankly I don't think I could get it into her head otherwise." he said, somewhat sincerely.

Kozue held up a hand to Masami, as if to say, give me a moment?, and turned to Kanaye.

"No, Satou-senpai, I understand. It's quite alright. In fact, it's good to know that, even though I went to bat for you to try and save what was left of your good name at school, you're completely willing to throw me under the bus just to convince Misaki-chan that her relationship is doomed—and just because I've slept with the guy she's dating." In retrospect, admitting that in front of Kanaye, Misaki and Masami? Not the brightest of ideas. But in even further retrospect, the entire school thought it anyway, so who cared? She kept going: "I don't know why you're so worried about her sex life, anyway. Maybe it's just that yours is totally doomed: after all, Akuba-senpai, or any other girl for that matter, isn't ever going to hate herself enough and be dumb enough to screw you."

By the end of it, she was glowering up at the third year, and clenching her tiny fists just a little bit. Back to Masami: "Pardon my outburst; I'm sorry you had to hear that, I'll see you later, senpai."

And she turns, flips her hair, and stomps (well… stomps is a strong word; stalks) off down the hall.

	Kanaye blinked once. Twice. Then he smacked himself in the head. "That's not what I was saying at all...Dammit..." he said, sighing. Couldn't he do ANYTHING right? He managed to alienate two of the few people that DIDN'T hate him. All because he simply couldn't shut up... (Reply to this) (Parent)

"Yes," she responded, a bit icily, before taking a breath. Misaki really wasn't to blame; Misaki was part of the 'Kozue you're a really good girl, not a total hobucket' camp. Oddly, along with Keiichi. (At least, he had been… Kozue wondered if he thought that way now.)

"I did. I didn't—" Another breath. Ugh, it wouldn't do to get upset in front of Misaki. "I hate being … the example, the… I don't know. He promised he'd be nicer and stop calling me a whore."

It was infuriating for Kozue to realize that she really couldn't keep a good angry going, and that now, as always, after a minute or two, it was declining into sad-and-tired-and-just-wanting-to-bawl.

Misaki looked at her gently and wrapped her arms around Kozue and gave her a gentle hug, "It's alright. You're not an example Kozue-chan. I don't know why Sempai keeps acting like that. He's one to talk he can't stand it when people touch him."

She sighed, "I wish now that I didn't help him with Akuba-sempai." Misaki smiled, "Hey you know what...we should go and get some snacks. Oh and you can help me pick out the pattern for your yukata, okay?"

She debated saying no I'm going to go watch eighties american movies in my dorm but… well, she'd been worried about Misaki and turning her down for hanging out? … you really couldn't do that to someone whom you thought was in serious friend-related turmoil. And who was hugging you.

Kozue did appreciate the hug, though; she certainly had no problem with physical contact (ba-dum tch). "Snacks sound great. Thanks, Misaki-chan."

	Misaki nodded some seeing the look in Kozue's face, "Why are you suprised Kozue-chan? Eh? Because I normally seem excited and such? Well I get excited because I'm with someone I care about and because they're probably excited or enjoying something that they like, so I'm happy then too."
