Kanaye Satou ([info]zealousemperor) wrote in [info]disappear_rpg,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:kanaye, kozue, masami, misaki

Who: Kanaye and whoever
What: Hopefully not MAEKO MAEKO MAEKO
Where: School
When: After School
Why: Kicks.

Kanaye was puzzled. He didn't have soccer practice, the day for the drama club was still a decent way off, Maeko was busy, he couldn't get on the student council, and he couldn't think of a reason to argue with his parents. Needless to say, he was quite bored. This seemed to be a theme. With nothing to do, he used his time stupidly by wandering around the school, hoping that someone would talk to him.

As soon as she'd gotten out of view of a teacher, Kozue had shrugged off her blazer, unable to deal with wearing it around in the heat. And hopefully none of the staff would bust her, but… god, she hated the end of the first term, when it started getting on towards summer and they were still wrapped up in these heavy blazers.

Her phone was in her hand—she was texting with one hand, carrying her jacket slung over her shoulder in the other. That basketball player had mentioned to her that he was headed to a party at another third year's house, and now Kozue was engaged in negotiating herself an invitation from him.

Oh hello! Someone that he knows! Kanaye smiled as he walked over to Kozue, noticing that she seemed busy. Kanaye, in true Kanaye fashion, proceeded to not care. It wasn't like she was talking to anybody, just texting. "Hello, Kozue-san! How are you today?" he asked, smiling.

With the kendo regionals coming up soon, the team was practicing almost every day of the week. However, lucky for Masami this was one day that they were taking a break, so she didn't have too much to do after school. She figured maybe she's stop by the tea club room, make some tea, and then be on her way.

She ended up not going along with that plan, though, because she spotted Kanaye and Kozue in the hall, and probably against some of her better judgement she approached them.

"Satou-senpai, Kondo-san. What are you two up to?" she asked.

Hearing her name, Kozue looked up, finding Kanaye in her path.

She smiled, mostly out of vindication that Kanaye was still referring to her with an honorific; no more Ko-chan, thank god. She kept right on typing for a few more moments, adding the last few letters to her message to the upperclassman. Was he in Kanaye's class, she wondered, trying to remember. Maybe they knew each other—maybe she could get some kind of inside scoop. What class was Kanaye in, anyway?

"Okay, although a bit warm," she shrugged, finally dropping her arm and closing her phone. She looked over her shoulder, hearing another voice; "Oh, Sakuraba-sempai. Good afternoon to both of you."

Kanaye nodded to Kozue. "Yeah, so am I. Seriously, what are they thinking, making us wear these clothes in this weather? If I thought it would do anything, I would complain about it." he said, sighing. His eyes flicked behind Kozue (not hard. She's freaking tiny!) to notice another one of the people on his "talk to if bored" list. "Nothing much, Masami-san. I just have nothing better to do then to talk to random people. You?" he asked, smiling.

She shrugged at Kanaye's comment, as if to say, yeah, me too. But complaining? From students? Have any effect at Nanakamado? What were they, crazy? Of course it wouldn't do a thing.

"How are your preparations for the tournament going, Sakuraba-sempai?"

"The team's not practicing today so I don't really have anything to do right now. I was thinking of making myself some tea in the tea club room before I saw you two," Masami replied to Kanaye.

Turning to Kozue, she said, "I guess it's going OK. The combination of Shirou-kun and Ito-sensei is... well... you know. I've been skipping more practices than usual lately because if Ito-sensei's there than all I hear is him and Shirou-kun shouting at each other."

She took a deep breath, then attempted to imitate Shirou and Ito-sensei(which was, truth be told, not a good imitation by any stretch of the imagination), "'SHIROU!' 'ITO-SENSEI!' 'SHIROU!' 'ITO-SENSEI!'" Another breath. "...You know, something like that. It's really... tiring to be around."

Kanaye quirked an eyebrow at her plans (MORE tea? Seriously?) before deciding that was somewhat mean and instead smiling. "Yeah, the soccer team isn't practicing either. Thank goodness...Yeah, Ito-sensei is WEIRD. Have to admit, Shirou-san is rather cool." he pointed out. He actually believed that. Shirou seemed nice enough. "Have to admit, the two together though would be...deafening, to say the least."

Kozue giggled at the impression, even though it wasn't spot on. "You forgot that Shirou-san needs to tell us that he's pumped. For Kendou or… I don't know, shouting. But yeah… he doesn't even have a sidekick when he comes to our club, and it's still exhausting." Then again, that might be because of the racket-on-racket duels and the lessons on how to entangle opponents in the court nets. Those definitely were tiring.

She backed up a little when Kanaye went to speak with Misaki, and then turned back to Masami: "What kind of stuff do they do in the tea club? I was talking to my grandmother just a day or two ago, and…" And her grandmother had shouted a variety of rage-filled invectives culminating in why didn't you tell me there was a tea club at your school and why aren't you in it?! Of course, that wasn't what she told Masami: "And she was excited to find out that it existed."

"Ha, yeah that's Shirou-kun. I can't tell him a single thing without him shouting 'ALL RIGHT! I'M PUMPED NOW!'..." Masami said with a little laugh.

Masami noticed the kimono Misaki had apparently made for Kanaye, and made a mental note to talk to Misaki about kimono later. "The tea club... well, we don't really have many members. The president's usually there, but she's kinda weird. I heard from one of the senior members that two years ago she took the tea club on a camping trip during summer break, and her whole reasoning was 'because it's the tea club', even though there wasn't any tea the whole trip... She hasn't done anything like that since I joined though. Mostly we just... sit around the club room and drink different kinds of tea. There's also some tea ceremony practice but by now most of the regulars know it all so we don't do it much..."

She raised an eyebrow slightly, at the president's shenanigans and then, again, at the last statement. They know it all? Maybe they should talk to her grandmother—Fumiko held that nobody could master the tea ceremony, even given an entire lifetime, and was always babbling about what Kozue hadn't learned yet.

"Does the school have its own tea room? Or do you all go out somewhere else?" She asked, curious. The idea of sitting around drinking teas was a bit boring to her, but attending a chaji or even a quicker, lighter ceremony actually appealed to her. She'd have time to organize her thoughts… and if that wasn't something she needed after this Paradise business, well, then there was something wrong with her.

Misaki was standing off to the side, watching the trio as they chatted. in her arms was a package wrapped up tightly in simple white paper. On it it has Kanaye's name and she watched him softly, thying to think of how to approach him. A part of her didn't want to, a part of her was jealous that now he was with her best friend, he was the one laughing and giggling with her, he was the one that was there when she needed a shoulder to cry on, and could hug her and just be there for her.

Another part of her figured that she would have to just let it go. She new that it was too good to last. Eventually Maeko grew tired of her, she was a burden to most people. How Maeko had lasted so long...she didn't know.

Taking a deep breath she walked over and cleared her throat. "Um...Sempai...I'm sorry to bother you, but here. This is for you."

Kanaye was somewhat surprised. He didn't expect Misaki to act so cordial after what happened in Maeko's dungeon. Maybe she was just repressing it? Either way, he smiled at her. "Well, thank you, Misaki-san. May I ask what's the occasion?" he asked as he opened it without looking.

Misaki was slightly annoyed. He didn't remember? Really now! She'd spent quiet a bit of time sewing that thing for him. "Well you can use it for Tanabata."

Inside was an elegant kimono cut for Kanaye's shape. On it was golden birds in flight and silver strands of a river. Misaki waited for a reaction, she'd hand embrodiered the whole thing.

"You don't remember Sempai, not too long ago we were talking when we went to the fabric store and I said I would make you and Shiori-chan a kimono each. That's yours, finished. I hope you like it..."

Kanaye twitched. He looked up slowly, then started to glare. "Never. Speak. Of Shiori. Ever again." he hissed.

He quickly smiled again, then nodded. "Thanks, Misaki-san. I'm sorry about forgetting, there's been a lot on my mind. I love it! It's definitely something I'd wear. I'll show it to you on Tanabata, alright?" he asked excitedly.

Misaki blinked some. She had thought he had gotten over that factor, but okay...

"Alright then. Please tell Akuba-san that I have her's almost finished," Misaki turned then and shrugged some, "I"m not even sure if I'm going to go. I might if I'm invited, but I don't know if that's going to be the case."

Kanaye winced. Misaki really went to calling her former-best-friend with her last name and -san? It's worse then he thought...

"Alright, Misaki-san. Thanks. I'm sure Maeko-chan will appreciate it." he said with a smile, though he doubted it would be the case. "Come on, Misaki-san. It'll be fun."

"Yeah I'm sure it will be, but it depends on what there's to do. I'm probably going to be helping with my brother's flower booth, so if I have time to wander around I will. But it's just a festival right? There will be others, just make sure that Akuba-san has a good time. She likes the gold fish catching." Miski said calmly and pushed her hair back.

"Keiichi-sempai, if he asks me, I might go with him after work, but I know I'm going to be busy. But thank you for that Sempai."

Kanaye shook his head. "It's a festival, and there will be others, true. But come on, Misaki-san. Now is the perfect time to have some fun!" he shouted happily. "But thanks for the tip, Misaki-san. I'm sure she'll love it."

Kanaye laughed a bit before attempting to disguise it as a cough. Keiichi? Really? "Keiichi-san? Well, I'm happy for you then!" he said, jumping to conclusions. He was good at that, so why not do it a lot?

"Ah, er...thank you. Fun depends on what you mean. I suppose I can have some fun. I just...It's going to be hard seeing Akuba-san there. I'm not going to avoid her, and if she thinks I am she's dead wrong." Misaki said with a huff.

"Mmmm, I don't know...I guess we kind of are going out. I'm not really sure. I don't know anything really about that sort of thing so..." Misaki shrugged some lightly embaressed slightly.

Kanaye facepalmed. "Seriously Misaki-san, I knew you two got into an argument but that doesn't mean you have to be mean to each other suddenly now. It's kind of sad, really." he said with a sigh.

Kanaye chuckled. "You and me both, Misaki-san. I've had all of ONE relationship, and...that didn't turn out well. This seems to be a theme." he said sadly before brightening. "Oh well, Keiichi doesn't seem the type to know what's going on, but you ARE going to get compared to Kozue, so get used to that."

new-subthread for oh god so tiny the textbox

Kozue's jaw dropped slightly: "Wait, you've never seen that movie—and—you think I look like Buttercup-chan?" That, right there, brightened her afternoon almost immediately. A grin broke out, although that didn't stop a few tears from welling at the corners of her eyes. In fact, it kind of helped them along. Bodies were weird like that.

"Okay, we need to go watch it. Let's get snacks and go!" She pulled up a hand to wipe at the corners of her eyes: "Really, I don't need to cry, I'm way more upset than I actually should be. It's so childish. But thanks, anyway."

"It's not childish to cry when you're hurt Kozue-chan? I...I never really thought it was silly at all to cry. It means something affected you a lot, and I always thought its a good thing to get it out." Misaki smiled some nodded.

"So we get snacks and go watch the movie! Yay! And yes you really do look like her. You'd make a wonderful Butter-cup-chan."

"To burden other people with your emotions? Yeah. I mean, in public, it's rude," she said, chorusing back the things her grandmother had told her nearly every time she'd cried as a child. Go to your room and do that. Don't disgrace us by being unable to control yourself like that.

Maybe it was stupid. That still didn't mean she wanted to be seen crying on campus; god, if that wouldn't set some tongues wagging. "And besides, if I cry, my face will get so red and puffy, I'll look like an idiot."

Misaki thought about that, was that something she had been doing with Maeko? It worried her but she shook it off, right now she had to find a way to help Kozue-chan. "It's not rude though, and you're not burdening anyone with your emotions. I mean, if you just let it keep building inside it'll just make you sick, and that will worry more people then just being honest about what you feel right? And isn't it better to cry about something with a friend then to hide in a room? And...And my sister-in-law alway says that when you do that with a friend, you both get to pig out on stuff you like because it makes it better...some how."

She smiled at Kozue, "If you ever want to do that, you know, I'll come over okay?"

"Then I'll say it got on you from me." Misaki smiled, "You're a bit smaller then me so , I could have been crying and you tried to help me and I got you covered in tears or something."
