WHO: Kenjiro, all students!
WHAT: GYM WRESTLING CLASS!
WHERE: The Gymnasium
WHEN: Tuesday
WHY: Because God hates you all.

It was with a look of great pride that Ito Kenjiro, new gym teacher at Nanakamado Esclator School, looked at the gymnasium. It had been...renovated wasn't the right word. "Transformed" did much better.

Sitting smack dab in the center of the gym floor was a professional wrestling ring, set up by Kenjiro and some of his buddies over the course of a few days. Surrounding it were a bunch of blue protective mats.

Entrances from the male and female locker rooms had been covered by black curtains. There were some free weights and other gym staples still, sure, but for the most part, things looked a whole Hell of a lot like a wrestling arena.

"Wahaha!" the teacher exclaimed, standing center-ring, rubbing his hands together. "The new recruits will be here any minute!"

This would be the first gym class since the death of the school's former gym teacher. There were no promises that it wouldn't cause the death of one of the school's current students.

But Hell, Kenjiro's got an honest face. What could go wrong?

As soon as Misaki slipped behind her, Kiriko stepped back to Misaki's side instead, slinging an arm around the other girl's shoulders.

"Of course you can, Misa-chan! But where's Akuba, why isn't she taking care of you? Oh, nevermind. Never seen wrestling before?" Kiriko 'hmm'ed softly and then continued more to herself than to Misaki. "I think you'd make a better ring girl than a wrestler, I'm sure most of the class would agree... But then we'd have to charge extra for tickets."

Kanaye walked up to the two, smiling. He vastly preferred this version of Kiriko over her normal self, but he didn't want her to die over that. Oh well. Maybe she'll be so grateful they saved or life that she would start acting nicer to them? Or maybe she'll just get over whatever made her act like an ice queen. Either way, he doesn't have a problem with it.

"Misachan, Kirichan!" he said excitedly as he approached, years of having bland conversation allowing him to ignore Kiriko's shadowness. He did not want to find out what happened if you called a shadow that to their face. Tom could deal with that if he wanted to. "How are you today? I must say, lovely~ costume, Kirichan!"

"Why thank you, Satou! I should have figured you'd be able to appreciate an outfit that screams 'look at me!'"

She smiled and her grip on Misaki's shoulder tightened somewhat, though nowhere near enough to be painful.

"So, who will you be putting your money down for?"

Kanaye noticed Kiriko's grip tightening, but kept a straight face anyway. Bringing it to her attention wouldn't do anything.

"Why, Reizo, of course! It's the safe bet." he said, playing along.

"Excellent!" she chirped, handing Kanaye a slip of paper and a pen. "Just fill this out and return it to me ASAP - minimum amount is 1000 yen!" Kiriko grinned. "And don't think I won't chase you for it either."

Kanaye chuckled. "Well then, what's the max bet?" he asked cautiously. "Or...is there one?"

"I capped it at 50,000 for now," she answered rather melodically, apparently pleased someone had bothered to ask at all, "But you know, for you, I might just let you put down more!"

"No, no, no, I'm fine." he said. "Now, I don't have that much money on but, but perhaps a down payment of sort is in order?" he said, stalling.

And now, for the stupid stuff. "Ya know, I like you more know. Sure, this is a rather surprising change, but I vastly prefer this side of you to the old ice queen look. But then again, this is the true self, right?" he asked, seeing what would happen.

Tom waiting until Kanaye had moved away before he walked up to Kirko. Not only would he get to find a chance to analyze the mind of a persons shadow self, but he'd probably find out what she actually thought about him.

He stopped for a moment to consider how to approach, he went over what she had done for the class.

"Hello Ikeda, I notice that the school is split between people afraid of the new wrestling gym class, and the people excited for it. You seem to have managed to work a benefit regardless of what category you're in. Congratulations."

"Oh, don't sound so impressed," she chuckled, waving a dismissive hand. "Just because you never would have thought of it... Anyway, care to place a bet? It'll be on yourself, no doubt?"

Tom crossed his arms.

"Only if I actually intended to win. though I have a different thought, something along those lines... Maybe you'd like to discuss it later today? Call it a business lunch. My treat of course."

"Wouldn't you know it, I'm booked for lunch! I guess you'll have to have to find someone else to impose on today, eh Sagaki?" She laughed. "What did you even want to discuss, anyway? Here, we can get it out of the way now, I doubt it's anything that would take very long to dismiss."

Apparently the Shadow-self was not that different from the actual person.

"I don't think a savvy businessperson doesn't just give out their ideas for free. Though I will say this, seeing as my ends are achieved, all the profit from it would be entirely yours."

Kiriko burst into laughter. "What, you? Oh, you've got to be kidding." The laughter died down and she dabbed a knuckle at the corner of her eye, then looked back to Tom, calmer now but with her eyes cut a little narrower with suspicion. "What are you trying to pull?"

"An opportunity, you get what you want, and I get what I want, and you don't end up having to share any of the money not with the school, or any of the local gangs.

And all it'll cost you is a few minutes, half an hour at most. Free lunch... hell maybe even some cash results right off the bat."

Tom shrugged.

"But if you aren't interested... I suppose I could look elsewhere. I know Kondo's got a pretty good in with the business world doesn't she?"

"Oh, she does - but honestly, you want to talk to Kondo-san about business? In a school like this? Well, whatever. If you want to talk to her, then you're definitely looking for someone gullible." A muscle jumped at the corner of her mouth, her smile sinking. That he would consider her so gullible was an offense she'd have to repay if he continued to push his luck, and the dark look that flashed across her face momentarily certainly communicated that he was not to push his luck. She smiled again.

"Run along, Sagaki!"

Tom almost grinned. But he calmed himself, if he couldn't get her to talk to him he'd be out of luck.

"Oh, I wanted to talk to you, but you wanted to dismiss me out of hand.

Kondo isn't a great choice for the idea, that'd be you... I like working with smart people, capable ones. I know it's terrible negotiation, but why don't we skip past the haggling, and you can tell me what it would take to have a chance to talk with you in some place less public?"

The smile disappeared from her face quite abruptly.

"I know you're not the sharpest crayon in the box, Sagaki, but I'm telling you no. Any hair-brained scheme you're coming up with is not worth my time, precious little of it there is remaining."

Her eyes narrowed even further.

"Smart and capable, huh? Funny, your pitch has done nothing but insult my intelligence, and undestimating me is a mistake you will very dearly regret."

Like flicking a switch, the crocodile grin spread over her face once more.

"Now, move. I have customers."

Tom crossed his arms, and looked at Kiriko. She wasn't going to cooperate, and he could be just as stubborn.

"That precious little amount of time you have left? It wouldn't happen to be roughly... twelve days would it?"

Tom reached out and too a betting slip, he quickly scribbled the person he was betting on and double the minimum payment.

"I know, president of a school club, working this whole wrestling angle. I imagine you have plenty more ideas coming down the line."

Tom looked at her for a moment. He knew he obviously wasn't going to maneuver her into a private conversation, and so he fell back on what something he seemed to be really good at. Pissing her off.

"You know, I think you're right, perhaps I have misjudged you. I mean you're certainly not gullible right?

...Actually come to think of it... I don't know why I came to you. After all... you couldn't tell how much our little circle of friends respected you, even when I pointed it out. You were too afraid to do anything about it even then. You didn't do anything until I did all the actual leg work.

So really... it kinda seems like I'm the brains behind your success... well aside from the mob ties success.

And speaking of which... you're previous attempts to make me regret crossing you? What the trying to trick me into picking a fight with Shirai? Yeah that was real crafty.

All in all Ikeda... you seem rather toothless."

Tom went ot put his hands in his pockets, realizing that he didn't have any he turned it into a gesture of brushing his hands off on his pants.

"Really, I'm sorry to have wasted my... I mean your time."

"Sagaki," Kiriko said dryly, "I don't know what it is about you, maybe your mother never paid you enough attention as a child, but you have really got to get over this perpetual need to be at the centre of everything. You're not some behind-the-scenes mastermind. You could never be the brains behind my 'success' because apparently you haven't even got the brains to understand the situation except as you've built it up in your little head. Whether you've got anything but air up there, I don't really know, but for how hamhanded you are it doesn't make much difference."

Kiriko turned to face him full on, voice growing suddenly louder and more firm. She wasn't shouting, but certainly projecting enough that the whole gym could hear.

"Look, I know I'm the only girl who ever bothers to talk to you, but like I told you when you were following me around and begging at my party? I'm not interested. Can you just back off? You already look pathetic, but this is like, sexual harassment or something."

She stepped decisively away from him after this, eyeing him up and down with a rather disgusted look, then turning to the next person approaching her and smiling broadly.

Before Tom realized it, or could stop himself he sucked in a breath, and his fist clenched when the shadow of Kiriko commented that his mother never paid enough attention to him. It was a split second and he was back in control of himself.

He shook his head and smiled at her.

"Sexual Harassment? Is that the best you've got? I mean... Satou is better at getting under my skin, and he's an idiot.

Huh I guess that just goes to show that not only is Kondo more clever then you are, but Satou is... that must be a sad realization for you."

He laughed out loud as he turned away from the table.

In truth it actually hadn't been a bad attack, certainly it did him no harm, but he couldn't keep talking to her without drawing unwanted attention. Which was really probably the goal. But wanting him to leave wouldn't be very vindictive. He wondered if she would engage in a follow up attack in a less public manner.

He was slightly bothered that he couldn't talk to her about her existence as a Shadow. She would probably deny it of course, but Tom was really curious to know if someones Shadow self was aware of what they were or, being an aspect of the mind, honestly believed themselves the genuine article.

Either way he went back to participate in gym, get past this, and move onto the meeting of the persona users.
