Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:kanaye, shiori, tom

It's a mistake to do this so publicly....
Who: Thomas and Shiori, Kanaye, any others
What: Thomas patches himself up after a small scuffle
Where: A stairway on the school grounds
When: A random day
Why: Cause he doesn't want to track blood all the way back to his room. And interaction is fun.

Tom cursed inwardly to himself as he wrapped his knuckles. It was stupid to jump into a fight, even a minor one when his earlier wounds were no where near healed, but when three second years gang up on a first year just to give themselves an inflated sense of self it's hardly something Thomas could agree to walk away from.

Unfortunately, now he was stuck patching up his wounds as best he could to keep from bleeding all the way back to his room. Once back there he could take care of himself in a bit more of a permenant manner.
He sat on the ground, his black bag lay open on the ground next to him. Despite the freshly opened injuries, he still had his school uniform on, his blazer still buttoned closed, despite droplets of blood falling on the clothes.

As much as Shiori hated classes, Shiori absolutely loved extra credit. If a teacher offered some, she would always jump at the chance even if it meant having to stay after. Already used to staying after for detentions, Shiori didn't mind hanging around after school to do some extra clean-up or help a teacher out for some credit. It beat detention and a failing grade, after all.

Though she had tried to milk as many points as she possibly could that afternoon, eventually it was time for Shiori to leave. Having shuffled down the hall to the exit, Shiori opened the door and paused. Someone was sitting on the stairs in front of her, and being the polite person she was Shiori had moved around the person before pausing again and glancing down. And then she stopped completely, turning to face him.

"You should use glasses cleaner," she said, moving to sit down next to the third year. "It works really well."

Nevermind he might have no idea what she was talking about. At all.

Tom finished wrapping his knuckles, and flexed his fingers. Pain shot through the hands, but that was nothing new and he shook th finger out. He glanced toward Shiori. When he looked up at her sh could see that he had a band-aid under his eye, where blood had been hastily wiped away.

"Glass cleaner for what?"

Kanaye grumbled himself as he started to walk towards the exit of the school. He had been on his way home when a pretty young 2nd year had came up to him. She had told him of her plight: She had a test to study for, but one of her teachers had asked her to help clean up the school. Now, Kanaye wasn't a fool, so he doubted she was actually studying, but she was still cute, so of course he had smiled dutifully and informed her that he would be honored to deal with her share of the work, sure that it wouldn't take very long, an hour at most.

She was to clean up the bathrooms, scrub them of any graffiti that may show up, and clean up the science lab. This took him around three hours, at his watch's count, and he didn't even get anything for his efforts. Heck, the girl's phone was turned off when he called her after he was done! Women these days...

Naturally, he stumbled along Tom and Shiori and blinked. "Hello, what's this?" He winced at Tom's injuries. "Ouch...Dude, what happened to you?" He blinked as he leaned in to look at Tom's face. "Oh, Sagaki-kun! Are you alright?"

Tilting her head, Shiori gestured towards the bloodstain on his shirt. The blood didn't really bother her all that much - she had drawn worse things like Reizo in a nurse's outfit - but she knew from experience how upset parents got if their children got a stain on their clothing. It was the end of the world, or so it seemed. And who was she to not help a stranger out?

"Glasses cleaner. It gets rid of stains," Shiori explained. "Though you could always wash it. But if you have to go somewhere and don't have the time, then you should-"

She paused, reclining her head back to see who it was that had spoken. Brightening, she turned to greet him with a grin.

"Satou-senpai!" she chirped. "Why are you here so late?" Obviously, that was the most important question on her mind. After a second's hesitation, she turned to look at 'Sagaki-kun'. "Oh, right! What happened to you anyway, senpai?"

Her priorities were so, so messed up.

""I got into a fight."

Tom's answer was short and to the point. He spoke in that same deadpan tone he used for just about every statement. His lack of answer may be what contributed to his reputation as a violent young man who got into fights for the hell of it.

Thankfully for him, the bullies he drove off were smart enough to keep their bullying away from public view, and so no one was there to see his entry into the fight.

The fight was the least thing on his mind now, as he turned to study the two students who'd stumbled upon him. The boy he knew, same grade as him, and the like Thomas half Japanese. The name Satou jogged his memory enough for him to remember a first name as well; Kanaye. He noted a connection between the two people who found him. He took the moment to examine the girl. She was new.

Kanaye cocked an eyebrow. From what he knew in class, the boy wasn't violent. Far from it, in fact, generally non-confrontational as a whole. Heck, he barely talked to anyone. "Over...what?"
Now that the boring business was over, time for some fun. Kanaye turned to Shiori and smiled. "Well, Shiori-san, one of your classmates asked me to do their work. I accepted, because I'm nice like that. Now, the better question is why are YOU here so late?"

Still sitting down, Shiori wondered briefly if she should perhaps stand up. After all, she didn't know this other guy - it would make sense for her to stand next to Satou-senpai. And if this guy was getting into fights, he was a big boy and didn't need Shiori mothering him. And yet she remained seated, instead looking back up at Satou.

"For extra credit!" she said as though it were the most obvious thing in the world. And, for Shiori, it was. She either stayed after for detention or extra credit. Turning back to the other third year, she asked, "You're okay, right? Er, aside from the obvious-" She gestured slightly, waving her hand.

With Shiori sitting close, Tom stood, edging away, not just from the girl but from both of them. He let out a breath as the two discussed after school activities, and when the girl asked if he'd be okay his reply remained terse.

"I'll be fine."

He looked away from her toward Kanaye. Compassion was a bad idea, nurturing compassion lead to... things Tom would rather not think about. He instead opted to answer the other third years question.

"They were insulting America, and everyone who comes from America. I told them it could be worse, I could be British, and one of them hit me for it."

He shrugged and turned away from the group.

"Oh no, someone has insulted my home country. This is completely new to me." Kanaye deadpanned, as he turned to Tom. "You're either lying or are an asshole. Or a lying asshole. Possibly all of them." Kanaye sat down and turned to Shiori, deciding to ignore the other male in the room, like he usually does. "Extra credit? I would never have thought you'd need extra credit, you're so talented? Extra credit in what? I could help you out, yaknow!" He responded happily.

Dissolving into a fit of giggles at Satou once again, Shiori smiled happily at the new nickname. It was cute, she decided, and only made her like Satou all the more. No one had ever given her a nickname like that, even jokingly. It seemed strangely intimate, and yet not at all that serious when Satou-senpai said it. Deciding to address it later, she instead focused on commenting on the location of his house.

"Hee, that's good to know!" Shiori trilled. "Oh, but wouldn't it be weird if we were really neighbors all this time? Or only lived a couple of minutes apart?"

Laughing at the thought, Shiori waited until Satou was in-step with her before continuing on. If he knew the direction, then there was no need for Shiori to lead the way. Especially if they were apparently heading for the same general place.

Kanaye smiled again at Shiori's giggle. If he couldn't be romantic, being amusing is a good substitute, for good reasons, hopefully. It makes them like you, which can lead the way to future romance. Or friendships. Close enough for him really. It's something, at the very least.

"Weird? Oh, no no no, Shichan. It would be fate. Obviously, destiny itself has brought down this sign, and it dictates that we must be together!" Kanaye finished with a dramatic flourish before pulling Shiori in close. He looked into her eyes for a moment...and then started cracking up and continued on his way. "Or it could be a coincidence. One of the two. I can NEVER tell."

It was a shame that Satou was going to work for his father, Shiori thought as he pulled her towards him, because if not a worker at a host club he would make an awesome comedian. Or maybe an actor for comedies? Something where he could make people laugh and feel good, anyway. It seemed almost a crime that Satou's future had already been decided for him.

"It's coincidentally fate?" Shiori suggested, continuing alongside Satou. "It's pretty cool either way, isn't it?"

To think, they might actually be neighbors. It wasn't the fact that they could be that weirded Shiori out, but rather the fact that they would have been neighbors for so long and neither of them realized it. She probably had nothing to worry about; if they did live close, it'd probably be a couple of minutes away at the very least.

Kanaye chuckled softly. This girl was too sweet. "Yes it is, Shichan, yes it is." Noticing Noodle Alley in the distance, Kanaye smiled and turned to Shiori. "Allright, Shichan. Lead the way to your front door. Unless you don't want me to know exactly where you live for some reason. I'm all right with that." Kanaye said while slowing down a bit. "Course, if you want me to start helping you with homework today, I'm all right with that, as well."

Mouth opening in an 'oh', Shiori thought of what they should do. She didn't really care if Satou knew where she lived, but if they went right to her house that would mean they'd be done hanging out for today. But if they studied, they'd be able to spend more time together. She just didn't want it to be at her house - the teasing and embarrassment her siblings would put her through definitely wasn't worth it. If they went to a restaurant, it'd probably be too loud and Shiori would have way too many distractions. What to do, what to do...

"I wouldn't mind doing homework, but where could we?" Shiori asked. "My little brother and sister would bug us and it'd be too noisy to do it at one of the places in Noodle Alley."

Suddenly, an idea.

"Could we do it at your house, senpai?" she asked, looking at Satou with wide eyes. "Um, I mean, we could probably find some place else to do it too if your place wouldn't work.."

Actually, come to think of it, it seemed so rude. Satou was offering to help Shiori, and here she was practically inviting herself over to his house. She wished she could take back her words.

What just happened? Kanaye didn't actually think Shiori would agree. It was just a harmless joke, a horrible pick-up line. And she had actually agreed to it, and not only that, but she was listing locations on where to do homework. It wasn't actually flirting or anything but damn it was close.

"My house?" Kanaye couldn't believe his ears. He was actually getting asked by someone to see if they could go over to his house? For Kanaye it was usually the opposite. Either they'd ask him to go over to their house or he'd ask them to go over to his house. Kanaye's brain briefly shut down at this new bit of information. When he came to, it was a second later and Shiori was still looking at him. "O-of course! Won't you need to ask your parents, though? I mean, going over a guy's house without telling your parents isn't exactly model student behavior. You need to keep up your image, after all." Kanaye nodded furiously.

Bumping into him lightly, Shiori shook her head. Her, a model student? As if! Even if he was joking, it seemed like such a weird thing to call her. A rock made more sense. Model student, ha.

"I'll just say I'm doing homework at a friend's house," she said sweetly. "I don't think they'd care if I said it was a guy, but if I said I was doing homework they'd definitely let me. They're always ragging on me to do better in school.."

She sighed, head dropping slightly before she perked up again.

"Would it really be okay?" Shiori asked. "Your dad wouldn't care, would he?"

"Hmm. Fair enough then. I don't have a problem with it, and I doubt my dad would either. Why would he?" Kanaye asked as he grabbed Shiori's hand again and started walking. "He doesn't really care much, and honestly, he would be happy that I'm turtoring someone. Helps prepare me and such." Kanaye said flippantly.

Nudging his foot lightly with her own as she giggled yet again, Shiori gave a grin before leaning to the right to snag her bag from off of the floor. Taking the first book from it, she wrinkled her nose yet again: English. Ugh. She hated the language. It was so unnecessarily complicated.

"Are you any good at English?" she asked, a faint look of disgust on her face as she stared down at the book. "It's this or... I think Japanese literature."

Her math she had actually done for once, and everything else was short enough that she could get it done in homeroom. Or most of it, anyway.

"English? Meh, I'm not great at it, but I can still help you with it~" Kanaye responded with a brief grimace. He was tired of that question. He knew Shiori didn't mean it, and it was in a completely different context then it was usually asked in, but just because he has foreign ancestry does not mean he speaks the language! "So, what do you need help on first?"

Slumping back, Shiori put a hand on her forehead as she closed her eyes. Exhaling, she sat back up.

"Man, no one's good at it!" she whined slightly. Thinking for a moment, she nudged at Satou's legs again but firmer than the last time as she scooted over closer to him. Confident, she boasted, "I bet if we do it together I can get a perfect on it! If we can work together and take down those things in that other place, then English is no problem! Right?"

She smiled brightly, half-leaning against him and the couch as she flipped the book to the page that the homework was on. Reaching for her bag to grab a random notebook and a pen, she flipped that too to a new page to start doing the homework. She avoided looking at Satou; hopefully he wouldn't be as flustered as she was about this. But it only made sense if he was going to help her - he'd have to see the book somehow, and it was better (and more comfortable) than constantly hunching forward to write the answers.

"That's the spirit!" Kanaye cheered. "We can do anything if we do it together! ...Well not anything, but this is easy enough! We can do it!"

Kanaye smiled to himself. Contact! YAY! It doesn't really mean anything, but it's a start. "Ohh, that part was annoying. You see, the annoying thing about English, is that there are millions to exceptions to everything. So, even though the rules say otherwise..." Kanaye kept going on and on, pausing a bit to wait for Shiori to catch up before continuing. Finally, at least, they were almost done.

Diligently doing her homework and listening to Satou's tips, Shiori felt for once that she was actually accomplishing something. For once, English made sense and she knew it was because of Satou. It really did help having her classmates (and teammates, in this case) explain things to her; they could explain it to her in kind and simple words that were impossible for her not to grasp.

At last, they were done, and with a happy sigh Shiori stretched her legs out, leaning further against Satou in the process. Returning to her original position against him, she tore out the notebook page and slid it into the English book before shutting it and placing it back into her bag. Taking out the Japanese literature book, she looked down at it for a moment before deciding a break was in order.

"Hey, so the the trip's coming up soon, isn't it?" she asked, not-so-subtly changing the topic. "Are you going?"

"Well of course! Why wouldn't I? There isn't any place I'd rather be!" Kanaye said in faux outrage. Actually, there were a lot of places he'd rather be, but there was no way he would tell Shiori about half of them, mainly because most of their were either jokes, about sex, or sexual jokes, and he didn't want to offend her. "Why? Are you planning something special on the trip?"

Shiori shook her head, lips quirked into a smile.

"No way! I'm just wondering if we'll see each other at all. I hope the teachers don't keep the grades separate too much..." Shiori said. "Though... do you know if it's an actual trip, senpai? Or will we be working too?"

She hadn't heard much about the trip; really, the only thing she knew that there was going to be one. She didn't really pay attention to people's chatter and gossip, since she was usually drawing. She really should stop drawing so much in school, Shiori realized. She was missing out on so much information and interaction...
