Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:kanaye, shiori, tom

It's a mistake to do this so publicly....
Who: Thomas and Shiori, Kanaye, any others
What: Thomas patches himself up after a small scuffle
Where: A stairway on the school grounds
When: A random day
Why: Cause he doesn't want to track blood all the way back to his room. And interaction is fun.

Tom cursed inwardly to himself as he wrapped his knuckles. It was stupid to jump into a fight, even a minor one when his earlier wounds were no where near healed, but when three second years gang up on a first year just to give themselves an inflated sense of self it's hardly something Thomas could agree to walk away from.

Unfortunately, now he was stuck patching up his wounds as best he could to keep from bleeding all the way back to his room. Once back there he could take care of himself in a bit more of a permenant manner.
He sat on the ground, his black bag lay open on the ground next to him. Despite the freshly opened injuries, he still had his school uniform on, his blazer still buttoned closed, despite droplets of blood falling on the clothes.

As much as Shiori hated classes, Shiori absolutely loved extra credit. If a teacher offered some, she would always jump at the chance even if it meant having to stay after. Already used to staying after for detentions, Shiori didn't mind hanging around after school to do some extra clean-up or help a teacher out for some credit. It beat detention and a failing grade, after all.

Though she had tried to milk as many points as she possibly could that afternoon, eventually it was time for Shiori to leave. Having shuffled down the hall to the exit, Shiori opened the door and paused. Someone was sitting on the stairs in front of her, and being the polite person she was Shiori had moved around the person before pausing again and glancing down. And then she stopped completely, turning to face him.

"You should use glasses cleaner," she said, moving to sit down next to the third year. "It works really well."

Nevermind he might have no idea what she was talking about. At all.

Tom finished wrapping his knuckles, and flexed his fingers. Pain shot through the hands, but that was nothing new and he shook th finger out. He glanced toward Shiori. When he looked up at her sh could see that he had a band-aid under his eye, where blood had been hastily wiped away.

"Glass cleaner for what?"

Kanaye grumbled himself as he started to walk towards the exit of the school. He had been on his way home when a pretty young 2nd year had came up to him. She had told him of her plight: She had a test to study for, but one of her teachers had asked her to help clean up the school. Now, Kanaye wasn't a fool, so he doubted she was actually studying, but she was still cute, so of course he had smiled dutifully and informed her that he would be honored to deal with her share of the work, sure that it wouldn't take very long, an hour at most.

She was to clean up the bathrooms, scrub them of any graffiti that may show up, and clean up the science lab. This took him around three hours, at his watch's count, and he didn't even get anything for his efforts. Heck, the girl's phone was turned off when he called her after he was done! Women these days...

Naturally, he stumbled along Tom and Shiori and blinked. "Hello, what's this?" He winced at Tom's injuries. "Ouch...Dude, what happened to you?" He blinked as he leaned in to look at Tom's face. "Oh, Sagaki-kun! Are you alright?"

Tilting her head, Shiori gestured towards the bloodstain on his shirt. The blood didn't really bother her all that much - she had drawn worse things like Reizo in a nurse's outfit - but she knew from experience how upset parents got if their children got a stain on their clothing. It was the end of the world, or so it seemed. And who was she to not help a stranger out?

"Glasses cleaner. It gets rid of stains," Shiori explained. "Though you could always wash it. But if you have to go somewhere and don't have the time, then you should-"

She paused, reclining her head back to see who it was that had spoken. Brightening, she turned to greet him with a grin.

"Satou-senpai!" she chirped. "Why are you here so late?" Obviously, that was the most important question on her mind. After a second's hesitation, she turned to look at 'Sagaki-kun'. "Oh, right! What happened to you anyway, senpai?"

Her priorities were so, so messed up.

""I got into a fight."

Tom's answer was short and to the point. He spoke in that same deadpan tone he used for just about every statement. His lack of answer may be what contributed to his reputation as a violent young man who got into fights for the hell of it.

Thankfully for him, the bullies he drove off were smart enough to keep their bullying away from public view, and so no one was there to see his entry into the fight.

The fight was the least thing on his mind now, as he turned to study the two students who'd stumbled upon him. The boy he knew, same grade as him, and the like Thomas half Japanese. The name Satou jogged his memory enough for him to remember a first name as well; Kanaye. He noted a connection between the two people who found him. He took the moment to examine the girl. She was new.

Kanaye cocked an eyebrow. From what he knew in class, the boy wasn't violent. Far from it, in fact, generally non-confrontational as a whole. Heck, he barely talked to anyone. "Over...what?"
Now that the boring business was over, time for some fun. Kanaye turned to Shiori and smiled. "Well, Shiori-san, one of your classmates asked me to do their work. I accepted, because I'm nice like that. Now, the better question is why are YOU here so late?"

Still sitting down, Shiori wondered briefly if she should perhaps stand up. After all, she didn't know this other guy - it would make sense for her to stand next to Satou-senpai. And if this guy was getting into fights, he was a big boy and didn't need Shiori mothering him. And yet she remained seated, instead looking back up at Satou.

"For extra credit!" she said as though it were the most obvious thing in the world. And, for Shiori, it was. She either stayed after for detention or extra credit. Turning back to the other third year, she asked, "You're okay, right? Er, aside from the obvious-" She gestured slightly, waving her hand.

With Shiori sitting close, Tom stood, edging away, not just from the girl but from both of them. He let out a breath as the two discussed after school activities, and when the girl asked if he'd be okay his reply remained terse.

"I'll be fine."

He looked away from her toward Kanaye. Compassion was a bad idea, nurturing compassion lead to... things Tom would rather not think about. He instead opted to answer the other third years question.

"They were insulting America, and everyone who comes from America. I told them it could be worse, I could be British, and one of them hit me for it."

He shrugged and turned away from the group.

"Oh no, someone has insulted my home country. This is completely new to me." Kanaye deadpanned, as he turned to Tom. "You're either lying or are an asshole. Or a lying asshole. Possibly all of them." Kanaye sat down and turned to Shiori, deciding to ignore the other male in the room, like he usually does. "Extra credit? I would never have thought you'd need extra credit, you're so talented? Extra credit in what? I could help you out, yaknow!" He responded happily.

Shiori blinked, looking at the third year oddly. Was he really serious..?

"You kind of deserved it then," Shiori said slowly, finally standing up. "How can you claim to be the victim if you did the same thing they did? It doesn't work that way, you know?"

She offered him a quick smile nonetheless and added, "Still, I hope your injuries don't last too long" before turning to Shiori with a wider, more permanent smile.

"No way, senpai! I'm terrible in class!" Shiori exclaimed. "I just stayed after to help a teacher, and she'll give me some extra credit for it. But that'd be great if you would help! I really need all the help I can get."

Even though Oubai-san was great, he was only a second year. Satou-senpai would know more than him, she assumed, and would probably know more shortcuts for problems.

He turned slightly, not enough to face them but enough to be heard.

"Your sentiment is a tautology. Either I'm a liar, or an asshole, *or* a lying asshole, but if I am a lying asshole, then I couldn't possibly be all of them."

He paused for a moment, and then looked back toward Shiori.

"And I never claimed to be a victim. I just said it was a fight."

He let out a breath and looked for a moment like he was about to walk away. Then paused.

"Thanks for the tip about the glass cleaner."

"...Ok, you're definitely an asshole. Probably insane as well." Kanaye glared at him and grabbed Shiori by the arm. "Let's go, Shiori-chan. Sagaki is scaring me, and I don't want him to hurt you. He couldn't if he tried, but it's still the thought that counts." He remarked as he started walking away, still grabbing Shiori's arm. He promptly stopped and let go of her arm. Sheesh, he was turning into Maeko! It was his worst nightmare. "Look, Sagaki, just stop fighting, alright? Or at least fight for a worthy cause, at the very least." Kanaye rolled his eyes and whispered to Shiori, far more loudly then he thought he was, "Sheesh, I'd hate to see HIS shadow..."

Shiori frowned at Sagaki, wondering what was up with him. Was it a really bad case of jet lag that lasted since... whenever he came to Japan, and he was just in a state of perpetual crankiness? Or was he this much of an antagonist (or antihero, anyway) by nature? At Satou's touch, Shiori looked down at the hand and then at the blond. Smiling slightly, she allowed herself to be dragged off and stopped when he did.

"Maybe he's still adjusting?" Shiori suggested as she began to wonder just how long Sagaki had been in Japan for. At Satou's exaggerated whisper, Shiori giggled, the image of a darker Captain America appearing in her mind. She wasn't sure if it would be an epically awesome shadow, or an insult to America. Maybe a mixture of both?

Thomas paused. Even more students bringing up that other place. Thomas wondered if there was a connection between these two and Ikeda, Aoi, and Oubai.

He contemplated whether it was safer to head back to his room, and finish cleaning up, or follow these two. He could look into them later... but there was no telling what they were up to, and what they could lead him to.

He shook his head for a moment, and ran up the stairs taking care to make as much noise as possible. As soon as he saw they were away from them he turned, and moved back down the stairs with careful, practiced, silent steps following the two students as they went.

"Still adjusting? Yes, as we all know, jetlag causes violence and dickishness." Kanaye responded in mock-seriousness before chuckling when he was sure Tom was gone. "Honestly though, that guy scares me. If he ever tries to get you alone, go to me or Ito-kun. Possibly both." Kanaye said in actual seriousness, grabbing Shiori by the shoulders and looking into her eyes. "...Good god I'm acting like Maeko!" He started panicking at the thought, then straightened up. "Ok, I'm fine. That guy is creepy though."

"He might just be cranky! My little brother gets so pissy if he doesn't get enough sleep. Maybe Sagaki-senpai is the same way!" Shiori defended, though she was a little unsure why she was bothering. Satou wasn't about to change his mind any time soon, if the way he was talking was any clue. At his words, though, she frowned.

"He isn't a pervert or anything, is he?" she asked, before dissolving into giggles at Satou's complaint. "And how is acting like Akuba-san bad? She seems really nice. Unless you mean how she acts around Aoi-san? But that isn't really a bad thing either, is it?"

Beaming, Shiori wrapped her arms around the third year in a quick hug. "It's nice to know someone cares enough about me, like Akuba-san does for Aoi-san."

"I wouldn't put it past him, honestly. He's really violent in any case though. And yes, it's a bad thing! It stifles Misaki's opinions and actions, makes people afraid to talk to Misaki and Maeko, and just locks them in their own little world. Being protective is a good thing, but going over-" Kanaye was stopped in mid-rant by Shiori's hug. His mental processes stopped working for a second. This was the first time he got hugged by someone who seemed like they actually meant it. Sure, he had girlfriends before, but none of them were really in it for the relationship. This...this... "Um...thank you? Yeah, thank you, Shiori-chan! I'm glad I could help!" Kanaye finally responded, trying to not show weakness while trying to figure out what happened.

Shiori stayed quiet, processing Satou's words. Even if it was an exaggeration on Satou's part, the words did have some validity: Sagaki had gotten into a fight because he had mouthed back to his classmates. And if he was that injured, either he had to be a terrible fighter or the other guys were in worse shape.

Looking at Satou oddly at his reaction, Shiori smiled up at him. Satou had had girlfriends before, didn't he? So why the flustered response? It was as though he didn't really hug them.

...

Shiori refused to think of what else her senpai had done with those girls, other than hugging. Clean thoughts, she told herself.

"Hee, you're welcome," she chirped, rocking on the heels of her feet. "And thank you too. You're a really good guy, senpai."

"No problem~!" Kanaye said, scratching the back of his neck in embarrassment. "And thanks!" Kanaye smiled at the girl, mentally processing everything he knows about her. She was definitely spacey, and horrible at schoolwork. She was nice and a good drawer. She was energetic. This all pointed to one conclusion. "I'm serious about tutoring you, ya know. If you need help, any help at all, let me know! I'd love to help you."

Tom rolled his eyes at the cheery act. It was at times like this that Thomas always wondered if these people knew he was behind them. After all, people only pulled out this sugar coated friendliness as an act. They displayed compassion, only to lure you in, use you and drop you.

He decided that the girl was trying to manipulate Satou. And from the looks of things it was working. Thomas would definitely need to look into these two at a later time.

"That'd be awesome, senpai!" Shiori exclaimed. "I'd have to pay you back though. It wouldn't be fair if you did all of that for me and I didn't do anything in return. So... just name it, and I'll do it! As long as it isn't too illegal lol!"

Clasping her hands behind her back, Shiori stared thoughtfully into space.

"I wonder what he was so upset about," Shiori mused. "I mean, compared to Japan, Americans suck when it comes to comics. Especially that one.. um.. Ratman? Or something. Mangas way better, I think."

Kanaye resisted the urge to say the obvious answers and instead just chuckled. "Too illegal? What, mildly illegal is ok?" He chuckled again and put his hands behind his head. "I don't need anything in return right now, but maybe I'll think of something later. I'm just happy I could help someone as cute as you."

At Shiori's opinion of the superiority of manga over western comics, Kanaye put a hand to his chin and stroked it thoughtfully. "It's...Catman, right? Catman, I think. Manga is better, though. Much better. At least it makes sense. I mean, seriously, the American comics have space plants that grow really fast and shoot needles and stuff. What the hell is that supposed to be about?" he said, jokingly before laughing.

"Mmhmm! I don't want to get in too much trouble if I get caught," she said cheerfully, grinning cheekily as she added, "Not that I ever would. But if you're sure, senpai!"

Rocking on the heels of her feet once again, Shiori blushed lightly at the compliment. She knew that Satou-senpai was a flirt, but if it meant complimenting someone it couldn't be that bad of a thing. Even if he didn't really mean it, it still meant something to her.

Nodding in agreement, Shiori giggled. "American comics are all about superheros too, aren't they? There's nothing about regular people. It seems kind of boring to read about someone you can't really relate to..."

Thomas rolled his eyes. the random manipulations were one thing, but now the two were engaged in just random vapid conversation, he didn't see much point in following them.

Thomas had far more important things to do, and decided to check these two out at a later date.

"Why, are you experienced in breaking the law?" Kanaye asked, half serious. "And yes, I'm sure. It's something I'd like to do. Helping cute young second-years is always a good use of my time in my book!" Kanaye smiled at Shiori, using the word again. Her reaction was cute! So moe~, he's gonna die! That would be a problem, though, so instead he simply kept smiling. "Shiori, do you want me to walk you home? A girl such as yourself walking alone would be dangerous, you know. You can take care of yourself, but I don't want to take any chances. It'd be hell on Earth if something happened to you and I could stop it."
