Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:kanaye, shiori, tom

It's a mistake to do this so publicly....
Who: Thomas and Shiori, Kanaye, any others
What: Thomas patches himself up after a small scuffle
Where: A stairway on the school grounds
When: A random day
Why: Cause he doesn't want to track blood all the way back to his room. And interaction is fun.

Tom cursed inwardly to himself as he wrapped his knuckles. It was stupid to jump into a fight, even a minor one when his earlier wounds were no where near healed, but when three second years gang up on a first year just to give themselves an inflated sense of self it's hardly something Thomas could agree to walk away from.

Unfortunately, now he was stuck patching up his wounds as best he could to keep from bleeding all the way back to his room. Once back there he could take care of himself in a bit more of a permenant manner.
He sat on the ground, his black bag lay open on the ground next to him. Despite the freshly opened injuries, he still had his school uniform on, his blazer still buttoned closed, despite droplets of blood falling on the clothes.

Dissolving into a fit of giggles at Satou once again, Shiori smiled happily at the new nickname. It was cute, she decided, and only made her like Satou all the more. No one had ever given her a nickname like that, even jokingly. It seemed strangely intimate, and yet not at all that serious when Satou-senpai said it. Deciding to address it later, she instead focused on commenting on the location of his house.

"Hee, that's good to know!" Shiori trilled. "Oh, but wouldn't it be weird if we were really neighbors all this time? Or only lived a couple of minutes apart?"

Laughing at the thought, Shiori waited until Satou was in-step with her before continuing on. If he knew the direction, then there was no need for Shiori to lead the way. Especially if they were apparently heading for the same general place.

Kanaye smiled again at Shiori's giggle. If he couldn't be romantic, being amusing is a good substitute, for good reasons, hopefully. It makes them like you, which can lead the way to future romance. Or friendships. Close enough for him really. It's something, at the very least.

"Weird? Oh, no no no, Shichan. It would be fate. Obviously, destiny itself has brought down this sign, and it dictates that we must be together!" Kanaye finished with a dramatic flourish before pulling Shiori in close. He looked into her eyes for a moment...and then started cracking up and continued on his way. "Or it could be a coincidence. One of the two. I can NEVER tell."

It was a shame that Satou was going to work for his father, Shiori thought as he pulled her towards him, because if not a worker at a host club he would make an awesome comedian. Or maybe an actor for comedies? Something where he could make people laugh and feel good, anyway. It seemed almost a crime that Satou's future had already been decided for him.

"It's coincidentally fate?" Shiori suggested, continuing alongside Satou. "It's pretty cool either way, isn't it?"

To think, they might actually be neighbors. It wasn't the fact that they could be that weirded Shiori out, but rather the fact that they would have been neighbors for so long and neither of them realized it. She probably had nothing to worry about; if they did live close, it'd probably be a couple of minutes away at the very least.

Kanaye chuckled softly. This girl was too sweet. "Yes it is, Shichan, yes it is." Noticing Noodle Alley in the distance, Kanaye smiled and turned to Shiori. "Allright, Shichan. Lead the way to your front door. Unless you don't want me to know exactly where you live for some reason. I'm all right with that." Kanaye said while slowing down a bit. "Course, if you want me to start helping you with homework today, I'm all right with that, as well."

Mouth opening in an 'oh', Shiori thought of what they should do. She didn't really care if Satou knew where she lived, but if they went right to her house that would mean they'd be done hanging out for today. But if they studied, they'd be able to spend more time together. She just didn't want it to be at her house - the teasing and embarrassment her siblings would put her through definitely wasn't worth it. If they went to a restaurant, it'd probably be too loud and Shiori would have way too many distractions. What to do, what to do...

"I wouldn't mind doing homework, but where could we?" Shiori asked. "My little brother and sister would bug us and it'd be too noisy to do it at one of the places in Noodle Alley."

Suddenly, an idea.

"Could we do it at your house, senpai?" she asked, looking at Satou with wide eyes. "Um, I mean, we could probably find some place else to do it too if your place wouldn't work.."

Actually, come to think of it, it seemed so rude. Satou was offering to help Shiori, and here she was practically inviting herself over to his house. She wished she could take back her words.

What just happened? Kanaye didn't actually think Shiori would agree. It was just a harmless joke, a horrible pick-up line. And she had actually agreed to it, and not only that, but she was listing locations on where to do homework. It wasn't actually flirting or anything but damn it was close.

"My house?" Kanaye couldn't believe his ears. He was actually getting asked by someone to see if they could go over to his house? For Kanaye it was usually the opposite. Either they'd ask him to go over to their house or he'd ask them to go over to his house. Kanaye's brain briefly shut down at this new bit of information. When he came to, it was a second later and Shiori was still looking at him. "O-of course! Won't you need to ask your parents, though? I mean, going over a guy's house without telling your parents isn't exactly model student behavior. You need to keep up your image, after all." Kanaye nodded furiously.

Bumping into him lightly, Shiori shook her head. Her, a model student? As if! Even if he was joking, it seemed like such a weird thing to call her. A rock made more sense. Model student, ha.

"I'll just say I'm doing homework at a friend's house," she said sweetly. "I don't think they'd care if I said it was a guy, but if I said I was doing homework they'd definitely let me. They're always ragging on me to do better in school.."

She sighed, head dropping slightly before she perked up again.

"Would it really be okay?" Shiori asked. "Your dad wouldn't care, would he?"

"Hmm. Fair enough then. I don't have a problem with it, and I doubt my dad would either. Why would he?" Kanaye asked as he grabbed Shiori's hand again and started walking. "He doesn't really care much, and honestly, he would be happy that I'm turtoring someone. Helps prepare me and such." Kanaye said flippantly.

Frowning slightly at his words, Shiori remained quiet as she followed after Satou. Even though she didn't get along that well with her own family, she always found it so sad when the realization hit her that others didn't get along with theirs either. Especially when it was people like Satou-senpai, who was so nice and smart and undeserving of any family problems. Of any problems at all, period. But she knew Keiichi wasn't too fond of him; she really hoped it wouldn't become an issue later on. She didn't want to have to pick between her friends.

Picking up the speed suddenly, Shiori turned to look over her shoulder at Satou. Whining, she said, "Hurry up, senpai! I want to see if we're neighbors!"

"All right, all right~" Kanaye asked sing-songily as he started skipping ahead of Shiori, already smiling as he anticipated Shiori's reaction to his house. They weren't neighbors, but they were close enough. Mainly cause his house could qualify as a neighborhood by itself if more people lived in it.

Stopping suddenly, he turned as he drew Shiori back. "Here we are, Shichan~!" Kanaye smiled as he looked at his house...or, more accurately, mansion. A giant, western-style mansion. The garden alone was probably bigger then Shiori's entire house. There was a giant gate leading to the driveway, with a buzzer on one of the pillars the gate was attached to. Smirking a bit, Kanaye walked over to the buzzer and whispered a few words to the person on the other side. As the gate slowly creaked open, Kanaye held his hand out to Shiori. "Come on in, Shichan~."

Picking up the pace as Satou began skipping ahead, Shiori looked around as she followed after him. Half-expecting to stop at any moment, Shiori spotted the large house up ahead that she used to draw when she wanted to practice drawing buildings. It really was a beautiful house, she thought as they approached it. Eyes glued on it, she let out a quiet cry as she bumped into Satou in surprise. Why had he stopped? And why... why was he saying "here" to the mansion? He didn't actually live here did he?

Her eyes widened as he moved to whisper into the buzzer and the gate opened. He really did! She felt like such a creep now for drawing it! Ugh, how embarrassing! She'd never show Satou any of the pictures!

Taking Satou's hand slowly, she looked at him and then back to the huge house. It was definitely the nicest house she had ever been to.

"I feel under-dressed," she said, still in awe. It did seem like something she should dress up for; it wasn't like going to a house, but rather to a fancy restaurant. And Satou, who was still in uniform, still managed to make it look more elegant and formal than Shiori could ever hope to manage.

"Most people do. I still have no idea why we have a garden this big, or why we staff so many people, but whatever." Kanaye responded while noticing a maid nearby and nodding to her. She nodded politely and started walking down another corridor. "We'll be going to my study. No one has the keys but me and Haibara-san, my maid, who you've already seen. She's getting some snacks."

Kanaye continued weaving through the corridors, occasionally nodding or talking to a servant. Eventually, the group reached a door on the second floor that Kanaye opened. The study wasn't anything fancy. It was just polished wood floors and muted green walls. There was a dark green leather couch looming over a glass table, a solid wood. ceiling-height bookshelf with reference books on every shelf, and a solid wood desk with an office chair in front of it and a laptop on it. "All right then, let's get comfortable while Haibara gets the snacks~." Kanaye said as he threw himself on the couch.

Still in awe, Shiori continued to be amazed at how fancy everything was. She felt like such a commoner in this kind of setting. And yet she had the feeling that ever if she did dash home and change, she'd still feel unworthy of stepping foot in such a place. Ugh, this was so annoying! She was just going to hang out with Satou in his house! His.. really baroque house.

Gaping when she saw the maid (a maid!), Shiori simply nodded dumbly as Satou led the way to his (his!) study. Thankfully, the actual study wasn't as fancy as the rest of the house and for the first time Shiori felt like she could relax. As Satou sprawled out on the couch, Shiori took a moment to look around the room. It'd be easy enough to draw, she thought to herself, but having a person be in the picture could make it more challen-

No! She wouldn't ask Satou to pose for her! She'd just make something up when she got home, yeah. Determined to ignore her awkwardness, Shiori walked over to the couch and nudged at Satou.

"You're taking up the whole couch, senpai!" she whined, grining as she did so.

"Oh well, guess you'd just have to sit on me then!" Before Kanaye could judge the wiseness of that statement, Haibara had come in with a variety of snacks. Ranging from little sandwiches to pastries to candy, it was stocked with almost anything Kanaye can remember the name of, and many things he can't. Haibara bowed to Shiori and Kanaye before leaving and closing the door.
"Dig in! And if you want me to open the door, I'm fine with that. She's in the habit of leaving me alone with people I bring over, no matter who they are. Quite annoying, but she won't stop." Kanaye complained before turning to Shiori. "We'll start homework after you've had anything you want~"

Shiori stared down at Satou for a long moment, and before she could stare some more the maid returned with what looked to be enough food to feed Shiori's entire family. Mouth watering, Shiori was caught between doing exactly what Satou suggested and feeding herself. Giving him one last look, Shiori went to get the tray of food before coming back to Satou.

And then she sat on him, his legs trapped between her own as she settled down and placed the tray of food on him. Keeping one hand to steady the tray lest anything fall, Shiori took one of the sandwiches and smiled.

"You're comfy, senpai," she informed him before taking a large bite of the tiny sandwich. Chewing enough so she could shove the rest in, she continued chewing until the whole thing was swallowed before reaching for another one. "This is really good! How can you still be so skinny when you have food like this?"

Really, if Shiori had constant access to this level of cuisine she definitely wouldn't be the slim girl that she was now.

Kanaye barely felt it when Shiori sat on his legs. He didn't actually think she'd take him up on his offer, but he really should have known better. Oh well. It was contact. "...Thanks, I guess? Is it really something I should be proud of? I mean, is there a "world's comfiest man" competiton? Cause if there was, I wouldn't know if it was more awesome or creepy. Possibly both. Now get off before I make you spill that food." Kanaye said before lifting her off of his legs and sitting back on the couch.
"I guess you get used to it when you've been eating it for all of your life. Nothing's really exciting anymore when you do it daily." Kanaye responded flippantly before smiling again. "Of course, soccer practice might have something to do with it, too~"

Complying with a light smirk, Shiori settled onto her little section of the couch, tray still in hand. Picking up a pastry this time, Shiori spoke before biting into it.

"You'd definitely win if there was," Shiori said firmly, holding a hand under the pastry to catch any flakes. Closing her eyes as she had her taste buds assaulted by something that was too heavenly to possibly be real, she opened them when Satou continued talking.

"That's not true! If you're passionate about it, it's really fun to do something daily. But I guess eating isn't really something you could be too passionate about. Even Keiichi is more passionate about cooking than the actual food.." she said, trailing off slightly before picking up again. "But you're in soccer, senpai? I didn't know that! Are you as good as I think you are?"

"Well, that brightens my day, Shichan! Not everyday you get called comfy by a girl~." That much was true. Said what you will about Kanaye, not many girls sit on him. It was definitely a new experience. "Well, there are probably some people who are passionate about eating, but I haven't met any. And yes, I am in soccer." Kanaye said, learning forward. "Though, despite my best efforts, I can not read people's minds yet, so I don't know how good you think I am. How good do you think I am?" Kanaye asked faux-innocently.

Giggling as she finished the rest of the pastry, Shiori reached for another sandwich before hesitating and bringing it back. She didn't want to get full right away! That would mean having to do homework instead of talking to Satou, the latter of which was infinitely more pleasant.

"Well, the best player on the team!" Shiori said, tone indicating that it should have been obvious. "You're so impressive in the other world that you've got to be good at soccer!"

And it was true. Much as he irritated the others (though, again, Shiori couldn't see why. Unless him not congratulating everyone but only one person irritated them? If it was pointed out, though, he always amended that..), he really was a strong fighter. Everyone was, really. And yet the scoldings and teasing people got if they messed up or missed made things tense. If only they lightened up...

Kanaye chuckled at Shiori's indecision before grabbing a pastry and biting into it. "Don't worry, there's more where that came from!" He insisted between bites.

"Well, you've got that right. Mainly because no one else actually bothers all that much. Granted, I don't spend as much time as I'd like to, but I try at least. More then I can say about most of my teammates."

Reaching for another treat, she grabbed a sandwich and took a small bite from it. Chewing it quickly, Shiori listened as Satou spoke. Frowning slightly, she lowered her hands - and the sandwich - to her lap.

"It must be frustrating for you to be so passionate about it and no one else liking it as much as you," she said. "Do you not get to play as much because of the, um..." She rose her free hand and gestured, as if that would express what she was trying to say. It always seemed forbidden to talk about the other world, even in private.

She went to take another bite, holding the small sandwich with both hands, before she stopped.

"When's your next game, senpai?" she asked, finally taking another bite.

Kanaye just stared at Shiori. Not because of his usual reason for staring, but because of the fact he honestly had no idea what she was talking about. It took him a while to actually figure out when she meant by "the, um..." "Oh, no no no! It doesn't cut into my time much, and even if it did, I would still go. I couldn't just leave someone in there knowing they'll die now, could I? Besides, we don't have that many games, honestly," Kanaye reassured her. "Speaking of games, my next one is this Sunday. 3 'o clock. Why?" Kanaye asked, smiling. "You wanna cheer us on? Or do you just wanna see me sweat? Cause I couldn't blame you if it was the latter, I'd would like to see myself too if I were you."

This time, it was Shiori who stared.

"They could die..?" she whispered, shocked. She had just assumed that the people were stuck there or didn't want to come out. But... they could actually die? Die of what? Those things, those shadows, would have killed the person right away if they didn't want people in their realm, and yet the person - like Oubai-san and Ishinomori-san - were always alive by the time the group got to them. The shadows seemed to only go after the group, and not the person who "owned" the dungeon.

Suddenly uncomfortable, for she had been treating the whole thing as a little adventure and an opportunity to find new things to draw, Shiori looked down at her mostly-eaten sandwich. She didn't really feel like eating now...

..or maybe Satou-senpai was just saying that to make himself seem more heroic? But he was impressive enough; he didn't need to start lying or anything. Frowning still, Shiori decided to get her mind off of that train of thought.

"I'll draw lots of pictures!" Shiori exclaimed, forcing a grin. "So you better not lose, senpai!"

...Whoops. Kanaye thought as he paled at Shiori's reaction. She had to have figured it out already, right? ...Nope, she didn't. Why did I have to tell her? Kanaye mentally processed the best way to save the conversation AND make himself look cool. "Don't worry about it, Shichan! We'll make sure no one will die! We'll save them together! Well, and with everyone else! With this many people, there's no way we can lose!" Kanaye backtracked quickly.

Thankful for her prompt subject change, he smiled a bit too widely. "Oh, is that all? Shame. Oh well, draw me a lot! I want to see them later! You're pictures are amazing, so I can't help but think how amazing it would be if those pictures were of me! Don't worry, Shichan, we'll win for you! And I'll tell everyone how I decided to win for you!"

Smiling lightly, Shiori nodded. He was right about it being impossible to lose with so many people; even if the monsters were really tough and seemingly impossible to beat, they could still win. If everyone attacked at once, they could defeat anything.

Shifting on the couch, Shiori giggled.

"I can multitask! Kind of, anyway. But I'll do my best for you, senpai! I'll cheer you on and draw you!" she exclaimed, pumping a fist in the air determinedly. "Hee, but you don't have to tell everyone you did it for me! Won't people tease you about it then?"
