Who: Open.
What: Scandal.
When: Pre-dungeon, lunchtime.
Where: The house.
Why: Reizo.

Kouchisei was sitting back in the kitchen and out of the way, but his head kept turning towards noise and movement and laughter. With his rigid posture slumped in the chair and his fingernails rattling the tabletop near a paper, his eyes closed and his vision was swiftly replaced by darkness. Laughter moved behind it and agitated the darkness and his ire every time he began feeling more comfortable. Betrayal had always been painful; people got underneath his skin, and then they left him and destroyed everything behind it.

His frustration was growing every time he heard laughter from nearby, and boiling over for all the other times he was reminding himself he had painfully been made aware he didn't know everything. Fingernails rattled angrier, breathing deepened and exhaled furiously at the newspaper, and Kouchisei was trying to blow it open so hard that it felt painful. It was comedic that somebody had asked him if it was all right. Funnier still that someone cared. Because Kozue had needed money and he had had it.

He wanted to kill her for that. Betrayal was the most hateful, vengeful, spiteful and evil behavior he'd ever seen. He knew the best way to escape this anger he couldn't understand - and any embarrassment - was by phoning (no, begging) home for a plane ticket. However, his impression of this immoral, adulterous, vengeful woman was that she lacked the emotional capacity to understand trust and feelings. He was looked down upon by that behaviour, so he would make it clear he was looking down on her.

He went into the lounge, and saw Kozue sitting with the others who were holding an audience. Well, that was lucky. He could break positive opinions towards her, apply moral pressure, humiliate, and even threaten suicide if it would make her guilty. He tore up several of the photos and scattered them on the table. He threw the rest afterwards.

"I didn't know you were a whore," he said loudly.

He then turned around and stormed out.

It took Kozue a moment to notice (she was still scanning the photographs and reacting with a mix of horror and recognition), but when Reizo slunk in, and she caught sight of him out of the corner of her eye, she felt her stomach plummet. She managed not to simply stare at him, slack-jawed and confused, but he was… far too not alarmed not to have some idea what was going on. The gestalt idea of which was slowly assembling in Kozue's mind, and it was not pleasant.

She turned back to look at Kou, and found herself staring at the backs of Tom and Maeko's heads, instead, and Oubai somewhere through the space between them. Seiko was beside her. She had seen Kiriko looking at the pictures (but where was she now? Kozue couldn't find her and that was... where had she gone?) It gave her a strong sense of safety or reassurance or something sort of like that, a capacity for momentary strength, and she managed to find a direct view of the older boy who'd just insulted her. Her... Kozue was fairly sure that boyfriend was an antiquated term at this point.

She took a breath. "Do you want to ask me about this, instead of just calling me dirty names?"

This was nonsense. Kouchisei hadn't gotten wound up by many people before this mess of them had entered his life. It had been a struggle getting to know this many. It had been near-impossible to know them all at the same time. He'd thought he'd found somebody faithful in Kozue. The problem wasn't the act itself, he knew. The issue was that she had broken his trust, and now he was being humiliated publically like he didn't mean anything.

He'd thought ages ago that intimacy made him vomit. Now the thought of it was bone-chilling; he rubbed his arms and went to open the door. The noise it made as it slid open was the most relieving he'd heard - he could get out of what was fast becoming a stifling environment.

The worst part was she'd done him a favour. This had made him realise this relationship had long been a waste of his time.

"No."

He wanted to go to his room and hide, but why? She was guilty. He hadn't gone and committed adultery, fraud, and everything else that came with lying. His gaze moved left to right, but in the middle of the crowd he saw Reizo - and it settled there. His mind was fast-thinking.

"How can you even like him? He has peasant written all over him! And the other day - I can kiss you for no reason whatsoever. What's wrong with that?"

Tom, was... unsure of what to do now. He'd always been so certain when entering a conflict, so now when he'd jumped to Kozue's defense, he... didn't quite know what to do. It wasn't likely that he would have to physically attack Kou. Once Reizo slipped in, Tom began to think about what might have gone down, and immediately switched to detective mode. Though some part of him worried physical violence may still be needed.

Max on the other hand, seemed rather certain. He had taken up position behind Tom and Maeko, but right next to Kozue. He wasn't growling, but his ears were back, and tail was straight out from his body.

Misaki had been sitting near the group reading over the notes she had made, and paused when she heard Kou's voice shout out and looked up. Her eyes glanced over the pictures but she frowned, "Why in the world would you be saying such thinks Oubai-san?! That was really rude and uncalled for!"

She got up and moved closer to Kozue. Just who did he think he was.

Seiko stayed close to Kozue, she raised an eyebrow as Reizo came in, he didn't seem surprised, but she hardly knew him, she couldn't make any judgment on what had happened. Maybe he was a victim in this too. But...she looked over at Kozue who had been so surprised by this so horrified, surely that was the normal response to this situation...

She murmured reassuringly to Kozue moving a little closer, her eyes flicking between Oubai and Kozue with a highly worried expression. Oubai was clearly very upset, and whilst she didn't want him to feel hurt, his insulting the younger girl kept her from offering some comfort or a kind word in his direction. Maybe later after being certain Kozue was fine, she'd try to talk to him, try to help.

"The other--"

Kozue's fists clenched at her sides, and she stared only harder at Kou, now standing in front of the open door. "What's wrong with that?" He actually had the nerve to bring it up in the same breath as accusing her of running around behind his back, and with Reizo, of all people? "What's wrong with that?" Her voice shook just slightly with the emphasis, and with what was slowly settling into anger.

At least enough anger to let her talk at greater length, less shocked now—which she did, her voice moving from venom to uncertainty and back, as she went. "Every single thing you've said since you walked in here has been complete… complete and utter bullshit. Nothing happened with Shirai, and I'm not a whore, and—and not that you actually give a shit? But you can't kiss me, for any reason, at all."

Kou's gaze shifted from the opposite wall to a cupboard and then a window, and he strode out of the front room and almost stepped into the kitchen before stopping two steps outside the lounge. The terror of being wrong kept his back turned, and with that he was becoming comfortable with them being out of sight.

But turned he did, because he was better and didn't see why he had to change to please them when he was in the right. Had he cheated? No. He wasn't a lying backstabber. He pointed at Tom and Misaki.

"You and you! This is none of your business!" He pointed at Seiko. "And you!" Maeko wasn't ignored. "You too!"

Then he looked at Kozue. His hands raised to his chest, and then flung out in denial. "If you want sex like an animal, go with him! I don't care!"

Reizo watched it all with the same shameless and unabashed interest that'd kept rubberneckers ut and about through the ages. Really, he was just waiting for Oubai to run off at the mouth and get slapped. Then one of them would probably run off crying. He had money on Kou for that bit.

He shifted on his seat, frowning just a bit at the way the sill bit into his bottom, and tossed the used candy wrapper onto the floor before he hunched forward and adapted a posture that suggested that he’d be watching this to the end.

His eyes jumped from player to player, lingering on the primary two. He was almost impressed with Kondo. She wasn’t wibbling, or breaking down. Maybe it was all an act and after she got some time alone it’d all boil over and there’d be snot and tears, but right now all there seemed to be was righteous, indignant anger.

Oubai had lost it. He kept trying to scrabble back to dignity, but the haughty bastard had fallen so far it was almost impossible to get back onto his high horse. Not that he wouldn’t try. The huge boy frowned, and grumbled dejectedly. The best part of Kou’s breakdown would be later on, he was sure, when he was trying to justify it all to himself and pretend he hadn’t let his emotions get the better of him.

… Maybe he kept a diary?

“Well, I have been called a beast before,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck and grinning almost bashfully.

Misak's jaw dropped when she heard the last line, she had shut up for a moment, utterly dumbfounded at the insepid accusations coming out of Oubai's mouth. This wa Reizo, for goodness sake! Why the hell would he really like to sleep with Kozue. He never once in all the time there indicated he was into a girl like Kozue. And that line, that horrible idiotic line.

"Don't say such worthless vile accusations Oubai-senpai. At least she's human enough to express some sort of emotions," Misaki spat out then covered her mouth.

Maeko's rage was not even close to calmed and she was still no closer to getting the full story. Something to do with Shirai, something that Kou and Kozue disagreed about. She was inclined to believe Kozue, who had never called her a prostitute or whatever it was that 'house of ill repute' implied.

But the fact that Kozue wasn't hiding behind her, was fighting her own bettles rather than allowing them to be fought, almost came close to leting her understand something. She wasn't quite sure what she understood but her position changed, backing away from Kou and going from trying to fight Kozue's battles to trying to support her fighting.

"If you didn't want it to be our business you wouldn't have challenged her with all of us here." She said, sounding calm in a very clearly forced way. "You could just as easily have called her away and had this conversation in private. You're the one who made it everyone's business."
