Sweet and Sour Dungeon...Act 1
Who: Exploration Team.
What: Dungeon crawling.
Where: Gingerbread Dungeon crawl
When: June 22nd
Why: Dungeon crawling, have fun you lucky ducks

The group finds itself placed in a very sweet setting, the world around them is covered in well white icing on the ground, and various gumdrops that lead the way around a gingerbread bricked path, with chocolate icing on the edges to make a nice touch. The path leads down a long front yard dotted with trees made from fondant (cake decorating stuff that's like candy) and hanging off them are chocolate kisses, pepermint drops, lemon drops, and other assorted fruit candy.

Toru suppressed the urge to comfort Kanaye; it probably wasn't the time. At all. Instead, he addressed Michael again.

"P-please, don't listen to him! He's having... a-a bad week. B-but, we... what have we done to 'meddle?' We've just been saving peoples' lives!"

The fact that he was even able to talk back to such a heavenly being was quite the indicator that Toru played way too much of the Ultimate Sci-Fi series.

Tom quirked an eyebrow. And studied the Angels. He put a finger to his chin.

"The most likely answer is that they're shadows, a manifestation of Akuba's psyche. They could also be personas from other users nearby. We may have a chance to fight our way out.

It's also possible that they are in fact divine beings. The naming conventions suggest a Christian mythology. Though the attitudes imply a more Old Testament origin. But I have my doubts."

Kanaye would have glared at Toru if he was functioning correctly. Instead, he kind of glanced. "Bad week? I'm having a bad EXISTENCE. You wouldn't like LIFE would be so stressful, would you? Also, I thought God was love and such. Why not just tell us to not use our personae or something? It would be preferable to us dying." Kanaye said the longest thing he said all day, but then relapsed into an emotionless mess.

Uriel's gaze turned from Kanaye for a moment. "Thomas. Kanaye. Your thoughts are wrapped in delusion and ignorance."

He addressed the group afterward:

"I can see by the emotions in your souls that you have chosen to disregard our warnings. We cannot turn a blind eye to your plan to tread in a realm humanity has no business exploring. Begone, or we shall purge you from the earth ourselves, along with the rest of the darkness!"

Toru moved so that he could face the angel, since it seemed to be staring off into space.

"You... you're punishing her for helping you!? Th-that's beyond wrong! And... d-don't even think of doing anything to us until you tell us why you want to kill us! Bosses and villains have to share their motivations, it's only fair!"

Hands grasped tight on his weapon, he readied himself to defend the dejected Kanaye.

Kou's gaze hurried from one angel to another, then to his classmates, past the bird cage into t,he sky, and then to the beginning. His eyes were wide. Breathing frequently he felt a rising illness in his stomach. It turned swiftly into bone-numbing coldness as he realised, if these were angels as claimed, that God existed.

His thoughts turned to saving himself, because at the end of it he was a human being.

He hurried in front of the group and raised his arms.

"... What do you think you're doing?" A pause for breath. "As we are, we don't know anything."

Wasn't that kind of the Western God thing? Guidance? Rules? Helping people? Or. Coming from a strictly Shinto-Buddhist family, at the moment? Kozue was distinctly out of her depth. Couldn't they have gotten Kannon or Kokuzo, or at least someone she vaguely knew?

"Didn't you hear him?!" Kiriko's voice was strangely high-pitched and nearly squeaked when she spoked. She'd pulled herself into a sitting position and was scrambling to her feet now, stumbling to the bars of the cage and gripping them, looking up to the angels.

"What if we stopped using our Personas?" She looked desperately from one to the next. "Will you let us go?"

Tom shook his head at the discussion. Making deals was not going to save them, they needed to do it themsevles. He looked around the cage to try and come up with a way for them to escape.

Getting through the bars would be difficult, maybe if they hit them with the full strength of their attacks, but the Angels would be on them. Then Tom had a thought

He slipped over toward Team Cake, he needed to warn someone about his plan, and he trusted Sonozaku at least to handle herself. He also needed to talk to Kozue, she was the only other one here who knew. He moved to the two gorls, and looked between them.

"I have a plan to get out of here. When the time comes I need all of you to get out of Paradise. Just run, as fast as you can, and don't stop for anything."

Finally Tom looked to Kozue.

"And... if my plan doesn't work, take care of Max."

What could she say? What was there to say?

Renju was slumped against the back of the cage, her back against the bars. So this was how it was all going to end. Funny--she hadn't thought they were in so far over their heads till just now...

She craned her neck up to look at Tom, who seemed so much taller when she was sitting like this. What did he think he was doing?

Tom almost reached out toward Renju, his hand hovered for a moment, and then he dropped it. He turned from her and Kozue and walked through the group toward the bars.

"Save your breath Ikeda. There's no argument we can make that would sway them, because everything they've said so far is a lie."

He looked up at the Angels with a recriminating glare.

"If you were really beings devoted to justice, then you wouldn't have let Sato Kei die in here. Or Aomori. And you sure as hell wouldn't be trying to kill the only people who were actually trying to do the right thing!

I mean... if what you say is true, then Shirai has a better developed sense of right and wrong then you do.

The earliest codes of law in western cultures, codes supposed to have been passed down by you were the ones that declared an eye for an eye. But that wasn't a call for violence, that was a call for moderation. Only an eye for an eye, only a punishment as bad as the crime.

No one here has earned a death sentence. But that doesn't matter to you does it? Because our sins are irrelevant. What really matters is we're a monkey wrench in your plans, and that's why you need to take us out, because we'r a threat to your goals."

With no one interupting, Tom continued. He placed his hands behind his back, affecting his most pompus, explaining things posture. Though anyone standing behind him would notice that with his hands behind his back , the fingers of his right hand had slipped up his left sleeve and were deftly slipping his knife free.

"You denied being Perishae, but not shadows. Powerful shadows maybe, but still shadows. And from a shadoiws perspective, persona do "upset the natural order of things." because it lets us fight the shadows. Without them we'd be T your mercy. It also explains why you'd want to get rid of us, all of the persona users.

I don't know if you always looked like angels, or if you took on the appearance just to get to us, but it's obvious you're using it to make us hesitate to confuse us. You're using this bullshit about punishing our sins to make us think we're in the wrong, so we won't fight back. Because you know that if we did we might have a shot at taking you down.

Well I'm calling your bluff. Because no matter what you say about sin, each and every one of these people are far greater then you could ever dream of being."

Toms muses tensed and he readied for theatrack he hoped he'd goaded the Angels into.

	Micheal didn't seem to react immediately to the words, only holding out a single arm once Tom was done speaking. "As you wish, then." The ground below the cage began to glow softly and the same light from overhead before shone above. A megidoloan shot down from the heavens and everything turned white.
