Ikeda's Wedding Dungeon Crawl
Who: Shadow Kiriko and Exploration Team.
What: Dungeon crawling.
Where: Ikeda's Wedding Dungeon Crawl.
When: June 14/15
Why: Dungeon crawling chat supplementals!

The entrance to the dungeon takes the form of a small, Western-style chapel, with sleek, towering glass buildings visible in the distance. The closest seems to be a hotel, but an inaccessible skyline lined with modern office buildings and interesting architecture belonging to no particular cityscape is visible as well.

ETA: Dungeon Summary for those who have missed all or parts of it and don't want to pick through the chat.

Also note that Yuuto and Masami are chained together, and Emi isn't chained to anyone at all.

The entrance to the dungeon is through the chapel. The lobby is bright, but empty, and the two symmetrical doors on either side are roped off with red velvet. Standing between them is a bookstand, with a handsome guestbook lying open on it. It reads "Welcome to the wedding of Ikeda Kiriko and Abe Toshiro," or it would if someone had not struck a line through the sentence and heavily blacked out the word "wedding" and the name of the groom. Beneath the words are two portrait photos, one of Kiriko, and the other of a young man whose unfortunate unibrow and curly moustache were probably later additions. Kiriko's photo has a few ammendments, as well - a black suit jacket drawn over the dress and a crown drawn on her head at a jaunty angle.

The whole page has a large, red, official-looking stamp over it that reads "CANCELLED," but there is still a pen and a place for people to sign their names into the guestbook on the adjacent page.

Kouchisei wasn’t sure about what he was seeing; he’d came quickly as possible after receiving a phone call from Maeko and snuck a quiet path to the area they'd sensed and found it to be unnaturally quiet, psychologically frightening in the shock change from what little he knew of Kiriko herself, and stupid in the fact something was quiet or it was not. Abe Toshiro he didn't know and it didn't worry him because althought he could work out the 'wedding' - it was in the book - it wasn't like she was actually married yet.

He rested a hand on the lobby doors and thought better of opening them to look at the hall beyond. He honestly didn't get English architecture - well, more like he couldn't understand why lovesick teenagers and young couples pretended to be well-educated about a country they'd never visited. But even he could understand the pressure she must be under. Something had gotten his dad off his back recently, but to be married so young.

“I wonder about the wedding night," he mumbled to himself.

Tom had been... well the only person there when Kiriko's Shadow slipped into Paradise who was actually armed. He had wanted to go in, and check out Kiriko's dungeon, but checking his notes, gathering his supplies, and making sure Max would be alright for the time Tom was in Paradise, ended up taking him enough time that he was there when everyone else was.

He too examined the chapel in front of them, and put a hand to his chin.

"I had almost expected some kind of business, the way her shadow was acting. I suppose I can see how ending the wedding would be a hidden desire, but that suggests Paradise conforms to the most pressing desire, as opposed to a general one.

It could also just be that Paradise is different for everyone."

When Kou's hand moved from the lobby doors without opening them, Tom nodded.

"Hmmm... I'm betting the doors won't open."

Every time he entered Paradise, Toru found himself newly enamored with whatever beautiful world had been constructed by the latest victim's mind. He knew it was probably wrong to feel that way, but he couldn't help himself if he thought something was beautiful, after all. Such it was in this case. The chapel, Western-style and completely foreign to him, almost literally took his breath away.

"W-wow, this is just like the Lost Condemned Sacred Land area in http:/slash!" he said excitedly. Walking up to the portraits on the bookstand, he examined the "groom"'s.

"Er... I-I guess that Ikeda-san doesn't like him much. D-doesn't this seem a little... immature for her to do, though?" As he looked at it, Tom's words meandered through his mind. "Hm, Tom-san... I think you're right. B-because Kou wanted to be a doctor, not run the Soyokaze Touka, so it was a hospital, and m-my version of Paradise was a game, right? So if the pattern holds, this is all because she doesn't want to be married." But urgency soon enough rushed the current of his thoughts. "M-more importantly, we need to save her from here! Ikeda-san... Kiriko is our leader, a-and our duty is to save people, right? W-we should get moving."

"But in the two previous cases, Paradise became what the victim was trying to escape to. This time it has become what Ikeda is trying to escape from."

Tom reached up and ran his fingers through his hair. He spoke in his usual deadpan. Seemingly unconcerned about the information he was processing.

"And it makes sense, the killer would target the groups leader to cause confusion and chaos in the way it operates. Which means the killer has access to the papers we filed. That lends some support to the theory that the killer is a member of the schools faculty. But it doesn't rule out a student."

Floor 4: Dancefloor
[info]apathyisboring

This floor is considerably less mangled than the one previous, though jagged handwriting still decorates the walls and the lights flicker and pop in places. The shiny, flat dancefloor, however, is pristine; the shadows that dance on it are docile and seem to pay no attention to the group whatsoever. The doors on the other side are barred tight.

Once everyone is in, the door again closes behind them. The music that was playing over the loudspeaker scratches to silence, and is replaced by the voice of S!Kiriko.

"I know you're not all the sharpest tools in the shed, but I'm pretty sure even you people can figure out what you've got to do to get the door open?" A girlish giggle into the microphone. "Hop to it, then!" The mic goes dead, and the music picks up again - this time, a sappy love ballad.

Kanaye whistled appreciatively. Rather interesting place. Looks slightly less then a mental patient's room, which is always a good thing. Kanaye jumped a bit at Shadow Kirko's plan. On one hand, Kanaye actually gets to dance with a pretty girl. On the other hand, it's Maeko. Oh well. You win some, you lose some. And he's going to make sure he wins as much as possible.

Posing, he announced, in his loudest and deepest voice possible, "Well alright then! We shall dance like we have never danced before! We can dance if we want to, and we can leave your friends behind. Your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance..." he paused before making another pose. "They're not friends of mine. Come along, Maechan! I AM THE LORD OF THE DANCE!" he announced with a twirl.

"...can Shirai-san not just bash it in like he did before in the other Nanakamado?" Maeko suggested, trying her best to ignore Kanaye's posing until she found herself dragged around by the twirl. This place had her a lot more afraid than she would admit. Kou's world had just been dolls mostly and at least in Toru's world it was only the shadows that were actively trying to do them in and neither of them had stopped her from using they power she'd gained. Much as she didn't want to believe that the witch was any part of herself she felt vulnerable without her.

"Please?"

"You wouldn't want to dance with me?" Kanaye gasped. "Why, I'm hurt, Maechan! Besides," he said, dropping the dramatic act, "what would be faster: waiting for Reizo to try to kick open a magic door, or just dancing a bit?" he asked, smiling. "We could just dance, and like magic (dance) the door would open. It never said what KIND of dancing."

Keizue Dancing

2009-09-21 04:55 am UTC (link)
Keiichi really, really wanted to strangle Kiriko's shadow, mainly because it was being an arrogant twat about this entire thing.

Still, there was a silver lining to every cloud, and this one came in the form of the vision of loveliness that he was chained to.

"Shall we, m'lady," he whispered to Kozue, offering his arm to her. He couldn't pretend to be a great dancer, not by a long shot, but it was *ballroom* dancing. Not club dancing, which lord knew he couldn't do at all. This was slow, and sweet, and cute.

Keiichi liked cute.

Kozue nodded, still quiet and sort of mentally elsewhere; she did, however, take up a rather official stance, putting one hand in his, and the other one prepared to rest on his arm. Which required a little shifting around, to navigate around the chain that was holding them together--and after which she ended up quite a lot closer to her partner than was normal, regulated, or, really, all that polite.

Far be it for Kondo to care, though. And it certainly didn't seem like she minded dancing close, although she was waiting for Keiichi to start, and lead.

She *was* a bit closer to him than he'd expected. Not that he was complaining at all, really. The two of them were the only functional couple on the dance floor...which sort of made him wonder why the Shadow had paired them.

Keiichi took her hand gratefully, leading them in a slow circle around the dance floor, his hand initially on her arm, before drifting to rest around her back, holding her close.

Closeness wasn't something he was quite used to yet, but it was nice. More than nice.

It was, in fact, just about enough to make him forget that they were in Paradise, chasing after yet another Shadow.

Misaki looked around at the pairs and sighed. This was the last thing she wanted, dancing was something her mother had insisted she learn as a means of dealing with the parties that the family went to at the University. Taking a breath she massaged her temples muttering.

"There's no place like home, there's no place like home..."

Knowing Oubai-sempai was probably as 'happy' as she was about this, she gracefully curtsied to him, "May I ask that you accompany me Oubai-sempai in a quick waltz? The quicker we get this over with the faster the door will open and the sooner we won't have to be chained together."

The party enters the room and the lights dim, accompanied by the same spotlight and sillouettes that appeared on the third floor. One silhouette is Kiriko here, as well, but the other is an unfamiliar short-haired woman. After a moment, the figures speak.

"Kiriko, I don't know what you're so upset about. It's not even that bad a grade, you're just above the middle of the class."
"That's average. And it isn't good enough."
"Nonsense, it's perfectly acceptable."
"Don't you and dad want me to do well?"
"Well, of course, and we’re proud of your good marks. But honestly, I think it would be better for you if your marks were more around this point normally. Boys don't like it if you seem smarter than them."
"Well who cares about them, then?"
"You do. It's better investment in your future than exam grades!"

Again the shadows freeze into tableau, with Kiriko's growing into the "Mr. Hyde" shadow version. Her voice quakes with rage.

"Just because all you ever aimed to be was a vapid trophy wife coasting on someone else’s success doesn’t mean that’s what I want to be! Pathetic, spineless woman, you'll regret trying to push me!"

Again, Kiriko's silhouette lunges and consumes the other, the swirling mass sliding off the wall and coalescing into a tangible shadow - this time, the fat cupid from the beginning of the dungeon. The lights come up as it flutters across the hall to Shadow Kiriko, who waits with her back to them and her hands folded behind it, apparently oblivious to what has just transpired.

Kanaye just raised an eyebrow. No wonder Shadow Kiriko was so pissed. He sure as heck couldn't blame her. Maybe he could convince her to go out with him after all of this was over? Chances are low, but he could try.
"Oy, crazy chick. What are the chances you'll come with us? I doubt it, but it doesn't hurt to..." he paused and furrowed his brow. "Actually, knowing you, it DOES hurt to ask, so I'll just shut up now."

Kiriko continued to stare at the wall opposite rather than responding right away. As the lights came up, what she was looking at came into sharper focus - four complicated looking and overlabelled line graphs with dates as headers. Pushpins and post-it notes covered the graph in some places. The last of the quarterly graphs looked slightly out of place - the line that had been dancing around a midpoint in the other three crashed suddenly downward, extended off the chart paper and down to the floor.

"Obviously I'm not coming with you," she drawled, glancing over her shoulder. "But if you're all ready to leave, I can send you back now."

Toru was the next of the group to speak up. With less of his characteristic shyness, he took a up a somewhat bold stance next to Kanaye and spoke to Kiriko, attempting a reasonable tone. "B-but we're not leaving without you, either, Ikeda-san. We've come through way too much to just let you send us away." He paused dramatically, for effect, it seemed. Either that or he wasn't certain about his words. "So you have to come back. You're our leader, whether or not your parents are making you marry this Toshiro Abe."

Immediately afterward he started shaking out of nervousness and hid himself behind Kanaye. It wasn't very effective, but it made him feel a little better. After all, he'd just been very, very stupid, as he was now realizing.

S!Kiriko takes the final hit and falls back, slumped over and clearly struggling to stand. Her clawed fingers clutch at the bloodier spots of her now-less-than-white dress (those with a keen eye may notice that the bloody spots don't completely coordinate with where she's actually been hit and are probably for dramatic effect) and the wounds seem to start to recede - she's healing. S!Kiriko lifts her head with a dark chuckle and another fanged grin, starting to straighten.

"Stop."

Kiriko's voice is hoarse when she does finally speak, and so she clears her throat and tries again, getting a bit shakily to her feet. "Stop."

She looks around the room with a frown, eyes finally settling on her shadow. "This isn't going to help, either. And taking it out on them is a waste of time."

The Shadow turns to face her, inclining her head curiously as if waiting for Kiriko to go on. She does, and though her voice is firmer now, she keeps her eyes glued to the desk while she speaks.
"We can't keep running."

S!Kiriko sighs, shoulders sinking under the weight of Kiriko's revelation. She shakes her head minutely, but turns to the group and flashes one last toothy grin, blows a kiss, and transforms in a flash of light back into the deceptively innocent looking little fox. Kitsune yips, then bounds across the desk to Kiriko, who runs her hand absently over its back before it disappears. She sinks slowly back into her chair, folds her hands in her lap and stares hard at the floor, blinking rapidly.

One last Dia. Keiichi wasn't going to die, at least.

Maeko's focus hadn't been on the fight, terrifying as the other Kiriko was. It was only when she heard a second Kiriko speaking that she looked up for longer than a second or two to double check that whoever was fighting was still alive.

She wanted to make a big deal of the exploding and the falling and the other falling and everything else. Turning it all into anger at Kiriko would have been much easier. But that wasn't fair. If it was anything like Toru and Kou then that other her was something that she didn't want to be. She had no right to be angry over something Kiriko had been deliberately locking away.

"...It's good to have you back with us, Ikeda-san." She said quietly, settling on saying something generic and non-confrontational. "Are you okay?"

Kozue was busy catching her breath; but when the Bridezilla didn't get right back up to keep fighting, she loosened the death-grip she'd had on her tennis racket. (Not on her phone, though. Just yet.) She took a tentative few steps forward towards the desk where Kiriko sat. "Yeah. Are you...?" Okay? Ready to go home? Going to murder us with some more explosions? "... what Akuba-sempai said."

Kiriko teetered forward on the end of her chair, eventually pulling herself up and out of it. The tears, apparently, had been successfully blinked back.

"No," she answered flatly. She stepped around the desk, casting a sympathetic look to Keiichi and a few others as necessary but evading eye contact as best she could. Apologies were certainly owed, but this wasn't the time.

"Let's go home."
