[info]compassionsaw:

Pippi heard that Jo was going to be joining the super crowd, and she has a little time free. So of course she wants to help!

Jo would receive an urgent message through channels, giving her a time and meeting place.

Shopping! (Open) @ 12:11 pm

[info]elongatedgirl:

Annie loved shopping almost as much as she loved detective work. Almost. She'd been taught from a young age by one of the best (ie.Mom) and had no problems scoping out and finding the best sales, where to look for just the right clothes, and how to get what you wanted before someone else. And now that the holidays were open, Annie could shop and not worry about some crazy lady trying to snatch her awesome find right out of her hands.

Annie was browsing through the racks at Nordstrom, her eyes currently fixated on a new dress that would be absolutely perfect for some functions that were coming up.

The dress was, of course, purple.

[info]_green_lantern_:

"So why are there Interstates in Hawaii if they don't go into other states?" Dex asked as he stared into his glass of beer.

Halloween In Vegas! (Open!) @ 09:01 pm

[info]ms_miracle:

By birth, Avia may have been an immortal New God, but in many of the ways that counted, she very much considered the Earth to be her home.  It was, simply put, the groovy-est place in the universe.  And one of the things that made it that way was the awesome holidays, which included Halloween.

In between hero-ing, Avia had mostly been performing in Vegas, along with handling some of the more charitable ends of Miracle Inc.  She actually rather liked the casino, a super-hero themed one that had gone up a few years ago.  She was packing the house every night, selling plenty of merchandise to fund charitable donations, and generally getting a kick out of performing.

So with a little help from her set-up crew (and overtime pay), she'd converted the warehouse where she was storing all the extra gear and other devices for her act into the perfect Halloween Party Pad.  Called in a couple of favors to get Scare Tactics to play (she used to open for them, before her own act took off), gotten catering (including an Ace of Cakes made Halloween cake), and gone all out.  Beer for those who wanted it, punch, everything.

And, of course, she'd invited all her friends, and encouraged them to bring and invite their friends.  Which, given the number of people she knew, was quite the large group.

For her own part, Avia was dressed as, of all things "Sexy Escape Artist."  The costume was clearly based on her own, albeit with a very short skirt, low cut top, and only a partial mask that allowed her hair to be free.  She'd seen it and just had to buy it.

Of course, she'd then sent pictures to lawyers to get that ball rolling.

Do Orange and Indigo Clash? (Meme: Questioning, for Pippi) @ 10:53 pm

[info]littleladylord:

She liked the town. The layout, the architecture, the Macchiavellian atmosphere. It spoke to the weasel in her soul. And possibly a little to the snake.

Suit and sunglasses. That's what Cindy preferred to wear in D.C. unless there was something special that required other things.

Little did she know.

One Word Meme: Cats (Pippi and K'hym) @ 06:55 pm

[info]compassionsaw:

Pippi was doing some reading, which tends to result in terrible, terrible things. Mostly, she's been trying to make sure Dex's little family has all of the possible advantages that some poor animals don't. One of the things she found was ensuring proper socialization.

She figures they've all gotten to know the JLI, so the next step, naturally, is introducing them to more people. And so she has a couple of the young cats dressed up for visiting - up to and including a little green bow tie on one, and a green bow on the head of another, when she arrives to introduce them to more of the heroing community, just seeing who is about.

She's sure Dex would be pleased to know she's being so dilligent in making sure his cats have the very best educational opportunities.

Inbound to Pokolistan @ 01:50 am

[info]august_heir:

Xian was quiet the entire trip. He barely registered the sounds of the jet or the sounds of his teammates speaking. His hands clenched an unclenched, but he remained perfectly silent.

Uncivil War @ 09:57 pm

[info]dcng_thunder:

Nikolai didn't expect a warm welcome after what happened the last time THUNDER had sought help from the JLI, but they were the best to handle the growing situation. Plus he suspected if THUNDER didn't involve them, they'd get involved without their permission and make the situation worse. He appeared outside the Hall of Justice.

"Agent Rozhenko of THUNDER, Head of Metahuman Relations. I need to see the JLI."

Merry Christmas (in July)! @ 08:12 pm

[info]_green_lantern_:

Dex had been busy the past few days shopping for gifts for his teammates, Rose, and Rose's family. This holiday called Christmas was apparently a big deal on Earth, big enough that they had it twice a year. Once in December and once in July.

Loaded with presents Dex went around leaving them for his teammates.

The issue of the double chainsaw vespa @ 01:35 am

[info]in_reserve:

Harry had been working with Pippi for a bit now, and was starting to understand how things worked. Still, people kept telling him he underestimated the insanity she could come up with unsupervised. That seemed a bit mean to him to be honest, Pippi was smart, and really wanted to help people, and she did have logic, her logic was just not exactly the same as most people's. But stuff she did still had sense to it once you figured out how Pippi thought of things. So Harry maintained that Pippi really didn't need 'supervision', at least not to the extent everyone seemed to think. She just needed help with helping others and making sure it was the sort of help they'd want and appreciate. Besides, people had their strengths, everyday detail stuff wasn't hers was all, and that's why she needed a handler (though he still thought the title wasn't quite right).

Still...in the face of what he was looking at right now, Harry was starting to think that maybe she needed even more help with that whole helping others thing than he'd originally thought. No, he was not going to agree with the majority and say she needed supervision, but someone certainly needed to help her so these sorts of ideas didn't see the light of day.

"Umm...I don't think...I mean...I...it's umm...probably not legal to drive that anywhere..."

He wasn't sure how this had happened, but someone or some organization decided to gift Pippi with a vespa complete with whatever customization she wanted. His own schedule had conflicted with the meeting to discuss what custom add-ons she wanted, but he had contacted the, very obliging it seemed now, people to say if there was any trouble or help was needed, they could contact him. They hadn't though. Well...they had, but only to say when it'd be ready. But that odd joke about 'cutting through traffic' made sense now. He'd thought Pippi had just requested a lot of indigo or pink, with animal decorations or something. Harmless and matching most of her stuff. He had not expected...That.

Harry again blinked and rubbed his eyes at the vespa with chainsaws coming out on either side. What had he gotten himself into?

Assault on Hell's Gate @ 02:24 am

[info]august_heir:

Xian had lost his sense of time. It had to have been at least a couple days..he couldn't really tell. They kept him barely conscious most of the time, moving him from one lab to another. He tried to make out whatever details he could while aware, but he couldn't recall being anywhere else in the facility save the two labs..or was it three..so hard to thinks straight. He did however register the pain he was in. His body was covered with small scars where different incisions had been made, various inserted into his body, connecting him to various machines. He thought they were studying his physiology..at least that's what he got from bits and pieces of what his captors said. He had tried to transform on several occasions, but couldn't. Xian thought he heard someone say something about a machine..maybe that was what was attached to the back of his neck..? His captors were Chinese, if the frequent use of Mandarin was any indication. His teammates had been right all along...

Xian's thoughts were interrupted by voices.

"Director Tseng, we have run extensive tests on the subject and I believe the results will bare fruit soon. It is my estimate that within a month we will be able to duplicate the Colonel's abilities into our soldiers."

"Good, Doc," came the casual response. "The Chairman will be happy to hear it. I know I am. I can't wait to get back to the mainland, this has been boring as hell."

"..Quite, Director," the other voice replied, not quite sure how to respond to the other man. A slight hint of fear could be heard in the 'doctor's' response. He caught a glimpse of a man with a full beard and mustache...

"Relax, Doc," 'Tseng' replied. "I know you love your science and believe me the Director's all a quiver on what you can come up with here, but it's just not my thing." Xian gets a blurry image of a tall man with what looked like a scar over his eye and..a streak of dyed red hair? "So how is our boy? You gotta keep him naked like that?"

"He is not aware at the moment, but in no danger of death," the doctor responded. "..Yes, Director, it makes conducting multiple experiments easier."

"I'll never understand how you doctors can be okay with another guy's junk hanging out at you."

"Director!" Xian believed this was a new voice, and one that was alarmed.

"The hell you yelling about, Chen?" Tseng asked, irritated.

The third man, 'Chen's' face was heavily bandaged, though Xian thought he could catch a glimpse of small burn scars on the man's face.

"We've picked up some manner of plane heading for the island. We've identified it as belonging to those Western capes, the JLI! They're on their way to here!" The bandaged man yelled indignantly.

"What? There is no way the mainland would allow Westerners to come here," the doctor said, shocked.

"We're not dealing with bureaucrats, Doc. These are gung-ho, fuck the rules superheros," Tseng said with a chuckle. "Things have finally gotten interesting."

"Interesting!? This is Hell's Gate, Tseng! Our greatest prison! I won't have it fall to a bunch imperialist quai-lo freaks!"

"Chen..shut the hell up and listen," Tseng said with a coolness that he hadn't previously displayed. "Get the defenses ready. Surface to air missiles, turrets, the works. Tell the men to get ready for war."

"War!? This is not a war, this is..!"

The man's cut off as he suddenly rises in the air, holding his throat. Tseng stood casually to the side with his arms crossed.

"Do what I said you little shit, or I'll find this place a new warden."

The bandaged man fell with an unceremonious flop to the floor. He groaned, cursing and holding his neck before nodding once and leaving the room.

"The defenses won't mean shit," Tseng said to the doctor after Chen left. "but it will give me time to make a call. Also, have the wetworks crew on standby."

"Yes, Director."

Xian heard the whole conversation, though he pretended to still be unaware. The JLI was coming for him..it gave him hope. He just had to hold on wait for his opportunity. No way he was just going to sit still and have his comrades do all the work...
