It was only the fifth day since he and Addison had fought, but, already, Harris was getting sick of it. He was sick of the looks Addison had been giving him all week; the 'we need to talk' looks, and the 'if you don't tell me, I'm going to find out by myself' looks. Harris couldn't
afford to have Addison - or anyone else - digging through the skeletons in his closet, but if he didn't set the kid straight, he risked other people noticing the tension between the pair of them - and that would be even worse. Addison, he could deal with. The sophomore was still livid with him for breaking his trust, but Harris knew that he would keep his mouth shut nonetheless.
Telling Addison everything was still highly unappealing, but Harris had begun to realize that he had no way around it that would remain beneficial to himself. And maybe it didn't help that everything was happening while he was detoxing, but there was nothing he could do about that. His test was in just over 24 hours - he couldn't slip, no matter how badly he needed to. Tearing his gaze away from the ceiling, Harris reached for his phone and fired a text off to the younger boy:
parking lot, twenty minutes. Without waiting for an answer, he got out of his bed and crossed the room to his closet. He dressed quickly, doing little more than running his fingers through his hair a few times to flatten it before moving to the bathroom to finish getting ready. Just before leaving, he pulled a file folder from the bottom drawer of his desk and slipped it into his messenger bag.
He made it to the lot a little sooner than Addison, and crossed to his own car, tossing his bag into the backseat before closing the door. Crossing his arms over his chest, he leaned back against the car and glared up at the sky as he waited. This was not going to be a fun day, that was for sure.
