Hello everyone. I'm John Mitchell as most of you probably know. I work at the pub. I've been told that I had accident which seems to be a lie. I don't think being shot counts as an accident. Anyway, I don't have any memories of the time before being shot. I can only go by what people tell me which doesn't always seem to be very accurate.

So, um, those of you who know me. Can you tell me a bit about myself? And can you tell me if I know you and who you are? I hate not knowing people I am supposed to know.

Thank you for your help,

Mitchell

You are into watching hyperactive preschoolers then?

I can't say that no, just the idea of watching you running around like a hyperactive preschooler amuses me.

Get me in a bakery, the tool section of a hardware store, or a shoe shop and I'll probably be the same way.

Oh well, I'm glad to be an amusement then.

Yeah, remind me to do that at some point.

Me too.

All's fair I guess. I think Sookie is going to take over the bakery Briseis had so you might get a chance.

There's going to be more of that pie?

That and other types too, assuming she can find the ingredients.

I still have a pecan pie owed to me as well, once I finish helping her rewire her house.

Or just take your time and not try and have it all at once? Moderation and all that.

A lot. How this place works, why we are here. Things like that, yeah.

I put the second of my magic detectors out earlier, on Stark Tower. The more I get spread out the better I can see how it fluctuates around here.

Oh, good. How do they work? What exactly do they meassure? Magic, yeah, but how does it work?

It measures the fluctuations in magical energy, kind of like a radiation detector measures background radiation or a seisometer measures vibrations in the earth's crust. The basic principle was discovered about a hundred and fifty years ago and we call the units of measure 'Dees' after a famous wizard and engineer who's credited with founding technomagery.

You set up the box and it will constantly measure the magical energy in a given area over time.

So how does magic work? How does it relate to basic physical principles?

Um, have you ever seen 'Star Wars'? And I'm talking the original movie that started it all, not the sequels, prequels or anything else.

Magic is...I don't really know how to describe it. In my world it lets you bend or break the laws of physics, up to a point. Like anything else it depends on the education and talent of the person using it, what they're trying to accomplish and how much energy they put into it.

No. I heard about it. There are twins in there, yeah?

But how can you bend the law of physics? That's what our whole world is built on.

Uh yeah, brother and sister but they don't know about that yet in that movie.

That's magic. It has its own constraints.

I guess I still need to get my head around it. It's like suddenly living with a fifth dimension.

Separated at birth. Now we're going to have to have a Star Wars marathon.

I wonder if we could convince the Jedi to watch?

Nope.

Don't worry, I'll only make you watch the original trilogy. The computer technology will look primitive to you but the story is classic.

I wouldn't inflict Jar Jar Binks on my worst enemy.
