I could really use a drink or like fifty. Or some really wicked lovemaking till the sun comes up.

Now, I can drink any man under the table. Or male, if you aren't a human. But only one can slip between my sheets. And I can promise it isn't you. Unless you share two initials with my son.

There's a big difference in getting upset when someone bothers you than being outright rude. Even I've done the former quite a few times.

I get downright mean though. I wish I could feel bad for it, sometimes. But I usually don't. It's like once I reach this threshold... I don't care anymore. I don't take it out on other people.

Sorry, I'm not meaning to treat you like a head shrinker. I would have never thought you'd be so easy to talk to. And now I feel a little bad for not having your poster hanging over my bed at Xavier's.

Well, anyone who treats anyone badly enough to get them mad probably deserves it anyway.

It's alright, I don't mind talking to people. I..get that a lot actually. I think being dead for so long made me more of a symbol than a person and it's easy to fall in to that. I uh...I kind of prefer that you didn't, seeing how many things they've put my face on is a little overwhelming.

I've recently found out that being called cruel, and heartless is a serious hot button for me.

I like talking to you.

Oh yeah, I know about that, but the Avengers, when I come from, were marketed almost as much as the 'Captain America' image. I had a poster of Tony, Thor and Bruce above my bed. But buying one of you seemed wrong in some way. Like I was buying a poster of the headmaster and putting it up to ogle. And I would get some black mark on something important.

You don't sem to be either of those.

That was just starting in the time I come from. The official things at least, the improvised t-shirts and things started almost as soon as the battle ended. Don't let Tony know that, he'd never let you live it down. That idea still always...amuses me I guess. I feel like most would be amazed at the way I was on those USO tours or while I was alone with the Commandos, history seems to have picked apart the highlights reel a bit.

I try not to be. Either of them.

When I was seventeen, eighteen, you could walk into a 'dime store' and get the posters.

To late, I kinda had a fangirl moment when he first got here.

Lord, the rumors in the mutant community alone would probably boggle your mind. There's one that says you and Wolverine were made before the Civil War. And you fought together in it. And you're why the Yankees won. Adamantium wasn't even a pipe dream before World War I or was it II?

When are you from? I didn't think they had dime stores anymore.

Fangirl? Is that a special thing or is it just a fan that happens to be a girl? 'Cause I think he's used to those.

Well, I only know rumors of Wolverine. I've heard his name but I don't know a whole lot and can definitely tell you we never met and I was born in 1918, not before the Civil War. And well, all I really know about Adamantium is that as of 1944, Howard said all that was left in the world went in to my shield.

I'm from 2017, and I was seventeen in 2009. And they don't it just sounds a little classier than the 99 cent store.

It's kind of when a fan is a girl, but there's a lot of squealing that may or may not get heard by the person being fangirled over. It's kind of a verb at times rather than a noun.

Really? They have you two fighting every war together in American history. Which doesn't make sense, with the Korean war and Vietnam, when both wars were counted as losses on the US' part. But the rumor isn't in any books. It's just hearsay among us muties.

And Howard was wrong. I don't know when Wolverine got his whole skeletal system laced with it, but the bad guys got themselves some and did him, and then turned around and made him a clone when he escaped, and planned on doing the same thing to her. When she was seven years old. Luckily for her they only dipped her claws.

So there's people from the future here too. I didn't expect that. I've seen a few of those, the 99 cent stores, they don't uh, feel the same, as the dime stores used to be.

Oh yeah, I've seen some of those, they're...loud.

Well, the only war I've ever actually fought in was WWII and the battle in New York if you count that as a war. Sorry if that's disappointing or anything.

That's, wow. It still amazes me the things people are capable of. Sometimes I wish I knew more about the Adamantium, it's saved my life more times than I could count.

No they don't. There was a Woolworths still open when I was really little, down close to where I'm from.

I be you have, all studly in tight leather, or spandex.

It's not. It explains the smirks Logan wore at times. I kinda knew they were just rumor, probably put in place to keep us inline or as inline as they could get us. Not sure if SHIELD started them or someone on our side.

I'm not even sure Tony knows more about the Adamantium. It's kept a big hush hush secret among the people who know how to use it. I'm not sure if Laura could tell you more or not. She was it's latest victim as far as I know. But the bastards that did it to her were some horrible people.

I used to love going to Woolworths with my mom when I was a kid. I could never get as much as I wanted but she'd usually find a way to give me a nickel or two. It was always fun to try and find something that I could take home and would be mine. I even remember drawing the building a few times when I was in school. I was pretty bummed to know it was gone when I woke up.

I uh, well, I don't think the leather is tight or anything and the spandex is...different. Still getting used to that.

He may have done more than I have but I was 'asleep' through everything between the war and 2012. And well, some of them could just be...rumors. I know there were thousands about me even back when I was still fighting.

I know it's not all that's in my shield, Howard made some kind of alloy with it to make work the way it does but he said it's mostly Adamantium and that it's basically indestructible, absorbs shock, doesn't vibrate...it seems like an incredible material. And well, anyone who does something like that to someone unwilling would have to be a pretty horrible person.

My grandmother took me and my brother once, when she was in town. Let me and him pick out a couple toys each. I managed to hide my doll fro It was awesome.

Leather has a habit of looking tighter than it feels. Spandex is a pain in the ass. But quite useful if it's modded to reshape and fit.

Oh yeah, he was awake the whole time, but I'm not sure he remembers all of it. Someone screwed around with his head somewhere along the line.

It doesn't get dull, and can cut diamonds. It's supposed to be the strongest material known to man. But it has it's own rumors too.

It used to be one of the biggest places in the city to shop, mostly because it a one of the only places people could afford.

It's probably mostly sentimentality but I just like the way a leather jacket feels, everything else I've tried since I woke up seems so...weak. It seems alright, it's a lot easier to move in than my old suit. But I'm still on the fence.

Horrible people have a tendency to do that it seems.

Well I can definitely say it doesn't seem to get dull, it can stand lots of cold and lots of heat; Tony's repulsors don't damage it and Thor's hammer couldn't hurt it so it has to be pretty close if it's not.

By the time I came around it wasn't in a very big place. It might have been about the size of a nice sized grocery store.

It depends on who you get the spandex from. I'm thinking the stuff that comes from SHIELD and the X-Men is a little more... protective than your run of the mill tight shorts.

Yes they do.

I don't know if I count myself as lucky or not, but I've never dealt with it, more than seen what's on Logan's and Laura's claws.

Up until 1929-30 I think, it was the tallest building in the city. I mean the store wasn't the whole building if course but just knowing you were in such a big building was kind of cool then. And we'll, a lot of things seemed bigger to me back then.

Oh I meant the jackets! I'm sure whatever SHIELD gave me was as strong as possible. I just remember looking for a jacket to wear and they were all cotton or thin, I liked the leather mostly because it felt like it would actually last, even if I did have to get it custom made.

I'm just glad to hear that all that's left of it seems to be on our side.

I think everything is a lot bigger to anyone at twelve. Though I was pretty close to the same height I am now, that I was then. So you're still huge!

Oh! I have to show you this great faux vintage shop. They might have something your size, without you having to have it altered.

If there isn't, then they're keeping it a big secret. But the badguys do have a horrible time keeping secrets.

Well I was just...small, up until college even. I feel huge most days.

That would be nice, though I don't know if it's because I'm used to the way things used to fit or because of my size. Usually when I find things that fit my arms and shoulders they're far too big at my waist. But I'd like to see it anyway, I still prefer the styles from when I was.

They usually aren't very good I've noticed. At least not for long.

How old were you when they made you one of us?

If the things don't fit your waist, then I can nip them in for you. I'm no seamstress, so I can't make you a whole new one, but I can do minor repairs and letting in and out of clothes.

I think they like to monologue way to much. The guy that was hunting me, before I was kidnapped, was crunching through the woods yelling at me how he was going to skin me and put me up on his wall as a trophy. After doing some rather unsavory stuff.

I was 22. I dropped out of art school to try and get in to the army, the doctor who created the serum that changed me was the only one that didn't 4F me.

That would be great, I thought about looking for a book in one of those buildings filled with them but I imagine actually finding anything you were looking for around here takes some time.

Well that just sounds unpleasant, I'm glad you got away from that. But it does seem to happen far too often that they'll explain more than they probably should, already assuming they've won.

4F?

Oh, those books are actually just about people. There's an actual bookstore, just down from Mitchell's pub. You have to take a flashlight with you, because it's not on the grid yet, but you can pretty much find any book your heart desires in there. You might want to stay away from the 'self help' section though.

He shot me in the shoulder mid shift, so I'm not exactly sure I did. I mean, here I did, but I don't know what happened back home. I'll tell you one thing, if I do make it out of that mess and remember any of it, the Avenger's phone number is going on my speed dial, after meeting all ya'll. You're more reliable than the X-men.

When you tried to join up, 4F was what they gave you when you were "unfit for military service". Technically once you got 4F you weren't allowed to try anymore but I tried going to get in in other cities.

That's good to know, there were...a few things I wanted to look for. Why wouldn't I want to look at those?

Mid shift? Shift to what? Well, I still hope you are okay, in both worlds. I'm glad you think so, it, wasn't exactly so at first but I like to think we've gotten better about that.

It's hard to imagine that you were unfit anywhere Cap. Do you regret them using the Serum on you, at all?

Because someone thought it would be funny to change the signs around a little. And it's now over a different sort of 'self help' if you catch my drift.

My mutation allows me to change shape into a Mountain Lion. Though I'm more of a Hulk sized house cat, when I'm in a good mood anyway. I am here, just emotionally drained, the shift allows me to heal pretty much anything. Including tattoos. Everybody has a rough start, I'm sure.

I really was, just didn't want to believe it. I was just a little color-blind kid, hundred pounds soaking wet, asthma, high blood pressure, heart palpitations, and countless other issues, I would've never made it through training. I..have moments, where I wish I could've just stayed in art school, grown up, got old and died. But when I think about the things I've been able to do I know I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. To be honest, most times I'm more anxious about the future than the past.

You're sure that wasn't Stark? That seems like something he'd enjoy. Thank you for the warning though.

That's, kind of neat to be honest. My healing does the same thing, I've never actually tried to get a tattoo but I don't scar so I imagine it wouldn't work. What's got you drained? If you don't mind my asking.

It sounds like you had a very short life span ahead of you, sweetheart. Even if you stayed inside in a climate control room. And all the lives you've saved, you can count your own among them, by becoming... Mutated. The future in this place is very uncertain. But I'm sure here isn't what you're exactly worried about. So what's bugging you back home?

Hah, now that I know Tony like I do.. It probably was him.

It hurts every damn time though. All my scars that I had before went away. The only ones that are staying I got from a dragon, after I was kidnapped. They're probably here to stay.

I hate to admit it, but having someone call me cruel and heartless hurts. Especially when it's just because I remember just about every name of every person, that's ever been here. And that parts kind of draining too.

I'd have to agree with you there. And I know, and there's no way I could have said no, even if I didn't know whether I would save anyone or not. There was a chance I might be able to help someone so I had to take it. Well, mostly, I won't ever age. Which means I won't die, unless I'm killed, while everyone else around me does. Again. And I happened to get a near-perfect memory as well so I get to remember it all too.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I agree that would not be fun, I've talked to Dr. Banner a few times about his changes and he says they can be quite painful for him as well, so maybe your Hulk-cat analogy wasn't so far off. A dragon? They're here too?

I'm sure it would be painful, and you don't deserve it. I know you were just doing your best to help. And believe me, I know how difficult it is to remember things like that.
