Time for some exciting reminder messages about all kinds of exciting things.

School
We've had some of our teachers go home, and we've had other people show up who could help teach the kids or any adults who want to learn. So, I'm asking if there are any people who want to volunteer to teach classes, and what classes they would like to teach.

We currently have the following classes/people:

Tiny people (for people aged 5 and under)
Mary Ellen - learning basics like colors, speech, shapes, alphabet through play

Basics (5-8 years old)
We need teachers here.
regular classes as well as hands-on learning for: reading, writing, basic math, science, and technology (how to use phones, computers, etc.) along with things like phys ed, art classes and some handi-crafts (classes were taught in English and ASL)

Actual School (8-16 years old)
English - Jack Torrance, Belle
Math - Tommy Sully
Biology - Me
Chemistry - This is currently being taught by Tommy and myself, but if anyone else wants to take over, let us know.
Physics - Tommy
Music - Maryanne Walker
Home Ec. - Bucky Barton-Stark
Art - Steve Rogers
French - Adam and Enjolras
Spanish - Me
Technology - We had computer classes and hacking coding, and there's a class on keeping the station up and running which is handy and useful. But we're missing a lot here. Tommy's just going to wind up teaching people how to make telescopes and Harri and I could possibly run a class on building her robot, but if other people would like to take classes here, let me know.
Telepathy - Dan Torrance, Abra Stone, guest teachers

New Classes/Teachers
Earth History - James Kushim
Spanish - Bruno Madrigal will be joining me.

Continuing Education (anyone)

Bucky - Cookery class
Belle - Literacy for Adults
Me - Biology at whatever level's required
Tommy - Physics at whatever level's required
Cuddy - First Aid/CPR, AED training
Hemingway, Abigail - Scouts

New Classes/Teachers
Robert Langdon - Symbology/Religious Iconography/Art History
Hemingway - Creative Writing, Journalism
Sookie Sully - Driver's Ed, but with spaceships.

If anyone wants to run a class or help with a class or stop running a class or join a class or they would like a certain type of class to exist which currently doesn't or anything class-related, let me know. Or preferably Tommy. He likes spreadsheets.

Genetic Database
For new people: I've been here for a while, and I'm a geneticist. I've been building and maintaining a genetic database for most of the time I've been here because there are a lot of plants in this station and most of them are completely unknown to us. However, a subsection of the database involves us, the people who live here, and any pets or animals we bring with us. This is completely voluntary, so please don't feel like I'm making you do something if you don't want to do it. My original post on the network about the database is here and shock me, it's almost four years old. So read the post, have a think about it, and if you're going to reply, reply here please.

Obstacle Course
Where is it?

[OoC: If I got stuff wrong in the list of teachers, let me know! thaaanks]

Rather well, thank you.

Do you recollect what I told you about the behaviour of terrible muggle scientists?

Cool.

Not yet. I got a lot of new memories shoved into my head when I switched back to this age and they haven't all made themselves be known yet. I remembered your broomstick this morning. But I can tell you that I'm a very good scientist.

It must be awfully peculiar to lose your memory, after a fashion. I'll say it plainly then - you oughtn't to take anyone's blood, even if they don't know any better and say they don't mind.

I'm teaching Siri to fly the broomstick on his own now. I was rather sorry that you weren't able to try, but it does take a spark of magic.

Oh, wait, this is when I told you about iron in blood, isn't it? Give me a moment.

How's his Spanish?

There are all sorts of things in it, but that's besides the point. You're right about Miss Katarin, though. It's very wrong for anyone to hit girls.

Sirius? I'm teaching him Latin, not Spanish.

Yes, I know, but I vaguely remember teaching him the lyrics to La Bamba.

[Black]

I'm not going to drain people of their blood or steal their magic, don't worry.

Is that the song that he keeps singing? Now it makes sense.

[O'Hara]

That's exactly what you would say if you were going to do those things, isn't it?

I don't want to believe it of you, but my father told me that is what muggle scientists do, and by your own admission you are taking people's blood. Can you say on your honour that you aren't looking for the magic within it?

I've never met your father, so I don't know how he knows what all scientists do, given that there's so many different types of science and not all of them involve biology.

I am asking people if they will let me take a drop of their blood, although it's not necessary, and then it gets analysed so that I can see if people are related to each other, or if they have an illness that I can help to treat, or if they want to find out more about their history and background, or any number of things. If there is a specific gene that highlights that a person has magic, and I'm actually aware of the relevant markers for that gene, then I would note it down as a point of interest, but I don't know all the markers and I'm not specifically looking to steal magic or blood, I promise.

My father is a very knowledgeable man and the most influential wizard in Britain. He meets with the Queen, you know.

Yes, you can tell from blood whether people are related, and the strength of their magic, because that is how it is passed on. But why would you want to look at it? What is the purpose?

I have no doubt about the fact that your father knows a lot, but he can't know everything. Nobody can, not even my wife, and she's got more degrees and doctorates than anyone else I know. And that's nice that he knows the Queen. I have no idea who the Queen is, by the way.

Back home in Nueva York, I work with DNA and RNA because it's my job. Here, I maintain the database because I was asked to. For the reasons I said before - finding out how people might be related; identifying if someone might get sick so we can get things in place now to help or possibly cure them before symptoms even start to show up or reassuring them that they won't get sick; identifying if they might have powers or abilities that haven't already manifested so they can prepare for it, plus a lot more. I'm not doing it so that I can steal powers or magic or collect a large vat of blood (that's a horrible idea), I'm doing it to help people.

Most of my time is taken up with the thousands of different plants, though. There are all kinds of plants here, ones that were already here, or ones brought here by us, and they're cross-breeding, and they're
not really relevant.

Have you really never heard of Queen Victoria? I suppose it is because you are an American. Naturally there are things my father doesn't know, but children ought to trust and obey their parents.

Let me put it this way. I think you are a decent fellow and you want to help sick people. I also know, with certainty, that muggles exist who would take that information you are collecting and use it to hurt magical people, or to kill them before their magic had even manifested itself. Your work would make theirs a lot easier, wouldn't it?

No, I think it's a splendid idea to catalogue the plants. That won't harm anybody. I am going to be planting some soon, to teach Sirius about how they grow.

You didn't say it was Victoria. You've had loads of other Queens too, you know. And no, they shouldn

I will give you that. If we were in your home, and I had a database of magical people, then yes, theoretically those muggles could use it if they knew about it and if they knew how to get access to it and if they knew how to hack into it, which is a lot of very improbable ifs. But we're not there, and I know with certainty that nobody here is going to get access to my database and use it to hurt anyone.

Oh, that's Herbology, right? A guy called Neville used to be here, he used to teach that. I used to sit in on his classes sometimes.

I haven't, though. Not personally. You can't have thought I was about for Matilda or Elizabeth. I am not that old!

O'Hara, I am going to trust you on that matter, because I do not think you mean any harm. I still think it is a dangerous idea and I don't like it, but you are hardly going to stop because I tell you to. Don't betray my trust and make me seem a fool, alright?

Yes, something like that. I haven't studied it in a few years, because Papa said it wasn't a gentlemanly choice for my Certificate, but I know Siri will enjoy growing things. Is this Neville fellow the wizard who mysteriously disappeared?

I never said you were old, I just don't have a firm grasp on English Royalty and who was King or Queen at what time, that's all. Biology's my thing, not History. We had an English King here for a while. Bertie. He was pretty cool, I liked him.

Got it.

Did you like Herbology? What subjects count as gentlemanly ones? And yes, that's him. Neville Longbottom. He used to live up in one of the parks with his dragon before he got sent home.

Do you mean Prince Albert? He is Queen Victoria's husband, but for some reason he isn't called the King, but it's very disrespectful to call him 'Bertie'.

I quite liked it. I think gentlemanly subjects are the ones where you don't get your hands dirty, like Latin and history and astronomy and magical theory. Really my father just told me I wasn't allowed to choose anything more suited to a gamekeeper than a gentleman. At least he didn't mind practical magic like transfigurations and duelling. Those are my favourites.

I know the Longbottom family. It's a pity I didn't meet him. I'd have liked to see the dragon.

No, he was King George the somethingth, but he introduced himself to me as Bertie so that was what I called him. I met him when he first arrived, helped him get his bearings and then we went for a drink.

I have notes from Neville's classes, and his plants are still here, so if you want to get a copy of the notes I can send them to you. It might let you learn what you actually liked help with teaching Sirius.

There were four of them. King Georges, that is. Perhaps when you met him, he was in disguise, and that is why he introduced himself that way?

Yes please, if you would. That might be very useful. Is someone tending the plants?

No, he was more than that. Six or seven, maybe? I'll check and let you know.

Done. And yes, Blue Jake keeps an eye on them. Have you met him? He organized the bonfire the other night. Ten feet tall, looks like a big cat, blue.

[Black's phone will alert him that he's received a number of files - text files that are a mix of typed notes and Miguel's spiky handwriting, with some diagrams added in as well, and videos from Neville's classes - all organized by date and subject matter]

Ah. Don't fret about it. I know there weren't any more than four, when I'm from, and hearing about the future doesn't do a fellow much good.

Yes, I know who he is! Mr Sully. I think he is good with plants.

I say, I know you've sent...something, but if it isn't too much of a bother, could I have the notes on paper or parchment? I will copy out what I need and return them to you if you don't want to part with them.

That's him. He's Sarah's uncle. Don't ever go to see the plants where he's from without a breathing mask on (or an equivalent spell), okay? The atmosphere they need is toxic to humans, it'll kill you within about 5 minutes. But the station keeps that atmosphere contained so it doesn't spread.

I can get that sorted out, yes, although I can't really print out a vid unless you have a holo-projector. And you don't need to return them at all.

There may be a potion for that. I know there is one for breathing undwerwater. I don't know how to make either myself, though, so I'll stay clear. I appreciate the warning.

Thank you, that's decent of you! Awfully generous. The notes will do nicely, and we can try to grow some of the plants ourselves.
