Time for some exciting reminder messages about all kinds of exciting things.

School
We've had some of our teachers go home, and we've had other people show up who could help teach the kids or any adults who want to learn. So, I'm asking if there are any people who want to volunteer to teach classes, and what classes they would like to teach.

We currently have the following classes/people:

Tiny people (for people aged 5 and under)
Mary Ellen - learning basics like colors, speech, shapes, alphabet through play

Basics (5-8 years old)
We need teachers here.
regular classes as well as hands-on learning for: reading, writing, basic math, science, and technology (how to use phones, computers, etc.) along with things like phys ed, art classes and some handi-crafts (classes were taught in English and ASL)

Actual School (8-16 years old)
English - Jack Torrance, Belle
Math - Tommy Sully
Biology - Me
Chemistry - This is currently being taught by Tommy and myself, but if anyone else wants to take over, let us know.
Physics - Tommy
Music - Maryanne Walker
Home Ec. - Bucky Barton-Stark
Art - Steve Rogers
French - Adam and Enjolras
Spanish - Me
Technology - We had computer classes and hacking coding, and there's a class on keeping the station up and running which is handy and useful. But we're missing a lot here. Tommy's just going to wind up teaching people how to make telescopes and Harri and I could possibly run a class on building her robot, but if other people would like to take classes here, let me know.
Telepathy - Dan Torrance, Abra Stone, guest teachers

New Classes/Teachers
Earth History - James Kushim
Spanish - Bruno Madrigal will be joining me.

Continuing Education (anyone)

Bucky - Cookery class
Belle - Literacy for Adults
Me - Biology at whatever level's required
Tommy - Physics at whatever level's required
Cuddy - First Aid/CPR, AED training
Hemingway, Abigail - Scouts

New Classes/Teachers
Robert Langdon - Symbology/Religious Iconography/Art History
Hemingway - Creative Writing, Journalism
Sookie Sully - Driver's Ed, but with spaceships.

If anyone wants to run a class or help with a class or stop running a class or join a class or they would like a certain type of class to exist which currently doesn't or anything class-related, let me know. Or preferably Tommy. He likes spreadsheets.

Genetic Database
For new people: I've been here for a while, and I'm a geneticist. I've been building and maintaining a genetic database for most of the time I've been here because there are a lot of plants in this station and most of them are completely unknown to us. However, a subsection of the database involves us, the people who live here, and any pets or animals we bring with us. This is completely voluntary, so please don't feel like I'm making you do something if you don't want to do it. My original post on the network about the database is here and shock me, it's almost four years old. So read the post, have a think about it, and if you're going to reply, reply here please.

Obstacle Course
Where is it?

[OoC: If I got stuff wrong in the list of teachers, let me know! thaaanks]

I could help with the younger children some of the time. I think I could handle all of it except the technology, because that's new to me too.

I'd also like to put my children in school here. Mary Ruth is eleven and Alice is nine, and they can go in four days a week. I need their help with household work on Mondays. The younger children can be full-time - Susannah is eight, Sidney seven, and Emmeline and Teddy are six. My youngest, Lazuli, is only three, so maybe she can join Mary Ellen's class part-time if I'm teaching some?

I'd like to ask that you don't take any samples from the children. No offense, but I don't have this place figured out yet.

We used to have a class for people like yourself who aren't from a time when technology like this was available. If we can get a teacher for that, would you be interested in attending?

What sort of household work would they need to do? Because, again, there's technology that can help with a lot of it, and it will help free up some of your time as well.

No offence taken, the whole samples thing is entirely voluntary.

Do you need a history teacher? Earth History, I guess. Older kids only.

Yes we do. One of the kids asked about a history class a while back, actually.

Hello! I have a question. I'm sixteen, but my education really stopped when I was thirteen, because there was a war. I don't think it would be right for me to attend classes with children. I'm literate, and I can cook and do other domestic things, but could I attend the first aid class? And what need is there for scouts here? Are there unexplored areas of the station?

(Reply to this) (Thread)

Shocking hell, do not let Eddie and Richie read this
Would your education have continued if there hadn't been a war?
Why do you think it wouldn't be right?

You can attend the first aid class, of course.

Scouts is where Hemingway and Abigail take the kids out to the park and teach them how to go camping and how to cook on a bonfire without burning their hair off, possibly use a bow and arrow without shooting each other in the ass, things like that. It's not like scouting out enemy territory.

You can have my samples if I can see your database. Fair trade?

[info]miguel_ohara

You can see the structure of my database, and you can see the plants data. That is not a problem at all.

But unless you get permission from every single person that's provided samples, you don't get to see anyone else's data. That's strictly confidential until I have proof that you have the permissions to view it and a valid reason for viewing it.

I don't want it spoil the obstacle course by letting you get a sneak peak. It will have to wait until us kids are returned to our proper ages. Our younger selves would be disappointed if they missed out on seeing the course in action when they worked so hard on it.
