It's not really a curse, these things just happen here sometimes. You could get older or younger, or swap bodies (or abilities) with someone else, or wake up in your own body but it's a different gender.

Yeah, all those things sound like curses to me. I mean maybe some people would enjoy them, but that's not really the point. One of those things happens and you weren't actively trying to make it happen? Curse.

Wouldn't a curse need to have some sort of malicious intent behind them, though?

Not necessarily. Some people create cursed items just for the fun of it, or to see if they can. Or there was a malicious intent towards the original target but the creator of the curse is long dead so anyone getting caught up in it now is an innocent victim.
