[Private to Luke Castellan]

Mr. Luke, sir, I know you spoke to me when I first arrived here, but I was very confused and frightened, and I am afraid I didn't give you the time and attention I should have. You say you knew...a different version of me? I should like to get to know you, sir, and hear about her, if you would.

[Private to Methos]

Thank you for your hospitality in allowing me to stay with you when I knew not where I was, and was confused about arriving here. I am staying in room 2301 with Mr. Connor now. I do hope you will stop by on occasion?

[Private to Future!Peter]

I wanted to let you know that I am staying in room 2301, with Mr. Connor. I do hope that we can meet again soon. I enjoyed speaking to you over dinner the other night. It has been a long time since a man has listened to me when I spoke. I do hope that you are finding...at least some sort of peace here.

[Private to Bridget]

I wanted to thank you for looking out for me when I arrived here, but I do hope you know that I am not an innocent, wilting flower who needs at all times to be protected. We are from different times, yes, but I assure you that I most certainly have no desire to be controlled by a man ever again.

[PUBLIC]

Since I have arrived here, people have told me again and again about the 'women's rights' movement, and spoken of 'women's lib'. Could someone explain to me what that is, and how it affects me?

Enjoy it. Take your time. We have plenty of that here.

Good to meet you, I'm Malcolm.

I do hope so.

I really don't want to go back from whence I came.

No, neither do I. But don't worry, I don't think we're going back.

What is the place like that you came from?

I come from the UK in 2012. Or a version of it, at least. I would say, in the scheme of things, it's not a bad place. We have freedom of speech and religion, democracy, we have human rights, we have free healthcare, we have a basic minimum wage, we don't keep slaves anymore- I mean, it's not perfect, it's far from perfect, but we have it pretty easy in a lot of ways.

It was more my personal circumstances that I don't want to go back to. And I have someone on the island that I love care a great deal about, and I would hate to be separated again.

It does not sound like such a bad place to me.

Ah, that is a good reason to stay then. I have never been in love - or cared about another person in that way - but I hear it is a wonderful thing.

It's nota bad place, it's not. It took a long time to get it that way, and unfortunately, the people who are in a position of power now are the sort that favour the wealthy and forget the rest, but- even at that, compared to a lot of places, we are fortunate.

Yeah, I think it's a great reason. Ah well, you're still young. Plenty of time for all that. Just you worry about you for now.

Young? I am nearly twenty. That is far from young.

But perhaps I have simply seen too much of life to truly believe in love anymore.

God, yeah, I forgot that they used to marry you off pretty young. One of my daughters' is nineteen, actually. Where I'm from, that's still considered young. I think the average age for marriage is about mid-late twenties, perhaps later- if you want to at all. Because it's no longer about property, it's not so important. But anyway- I'd say it's young.

Yeah, I can understand that. The thing is, whether you believe in it or not, these things can just sort of happen before you realise it. Take care of yourself, the rest will follow.

It is old enough in my day. I have been married and widowed already, and then taken as a slave by the man who killed my husband. I loved neither of them, but I think perhaps love is but a fairy tale. I do not expect to find it, and I am not looking for it.

I shall be content with friends.

Oh, but love is so very real! I've found that it sneaks up on you when you least expect it.

I doubt I shall ever find it, but I am fine with that. As long as I can be free, and be my own person, I will be happy. One does not need a man to be happy, alas, sometimes having one can make you far less so.

I do hope you find happiness. I don't mean that one has to have a man or love to be happy, only I don't think that you should immediately count it out or think that you will never find it.

I just don't think it's real. I mean, I'm glad that people are happy together, I'm glad that you're happy with Young Mr. Peter, but I just think that love is a fairy tale.

Love isn't a fairy tale, but it doesn't happen to everyone in the same way and it isn't all sunshine and rainbows either. Sometimes love can be unintentionally cruel.

Perhaps, but I have never been in love before, nor do I see it happening to me anytime soon. It would have to be a very special man.

I don't think anyone is saying you have to and it doesn't happen that way anyway. Just be yourself and let everything else sort itself out.

That's..I'm sorry, but that's so sad that you think that way! Please don't mistake me- I'm not saying you have to think a particular way. I just can't imagine not believing that love is real.

You're welcome.

I'm Grey, and a big fan of the whole female liberation thing. If I can help at all, since it seems mostly men have replied to you, not that Malc doesn't know what he's talking about, but I figure a female contributor couldn't hurt.

Yes, it seems that most of the people who talk to me in this place are men. I don't know why that is. I should like to have some female friends as well.

Is everything they have said correct?
