It is my turn to announce baby news! Guys, you have no idea how excited I am.

[Ooc: The nest is smaller and carries six eggs instead.]

Aren't they pretty? Also, does anyone know when the little ones are likely to escape their shells?

Congratulations! You've entered in the grandmother crowd.

And that at 26. Admittedly, I don't know what to di with them yet.

Careful, you're going to start sounding like people from my part of the world. I'd say you have a couple of months before you have to worry about it. If they're anything like alligators they wont hatch for two months, and then Momma will probably want them around for at least eight weeks if not longer, after that.

I won't give them away right now but if I already know what to do, I can prepare for it. I don't even know how raptors behave in the wild.

They're crazy smart, even in the wild. The only thing to do right now is wait and see how many hatch. All of them may not be fertilized, if they're anything like chickens and Alligators.

You mean there might not be any that will hatch?

I'm pretty sure with her laying that many that some will hatch. But some birds and some reptiles lay "decoy" eggs with the fertilized ones. Which are basically eggs in the clutch that didn't get sperm.

Gah, the weird shit I remember from animal planet.

Oh good. You scared me for a moment. I am already starting to fall in love with these fellows.

Sorry. They could all be fertilized, but that'd be unusual. You'll be able to tell in a week or so if you shine a light against the shell.

Look for a pulsing or veins, if it's just the yolk it's not fertilized.

Thanks, I will. I hope for a lot of pulsing in that case.

I will too, as many as you can handle.

I hope I don't need to handle anything unless Ama decides to abandon them which I really hope she won't.

As long as they don't get lost from her for longer than a few hours, you should be good.

I shall hope not! They are in a very sheltered environment.

That's true. I wonder how much of that area is monitored by cameras...

You'd be able to use it to check on them whenever you wanted.
