accidental voice post
[Miguel is in the room in Henry's apartment that he's staying in, making his way through a six-pack of beer and reading through a load of science papers he found in Sarah's book collection earlier in the day. His phone is playing a load of twencen music, a playlist that he'd found that bounces between songs from the 1950s right up to the year 1999. Miguel doesn't know all of them, but Xina has taught him enough of them, and he's drank enough beer that he's singing along softly with some of them. His voice is okay but it's quiet and completely untrained so he's not able for really low notes or any super-high ones - he just doesn't sing those bits.]

[Songs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

[OoC: I had a threadstart up for Miguel where he went back to his normal age, but he wanted to do more stuff as a teenager, so I checked with Amy and then took the threadstart down earlier today. I'll put it back up soon :)

Enjoy Xina's music taste!]

Why would you call a big dog MOUSE?? You should call him Dragon or something else big! Is Spanish good for casting spells like Latin is? I have to learn Latin because of that.

That's the joke. Mouse is massive but he's got the same name as a tiny rodent. And... I have no idea. If you translated a spell from Latin into Spanish, would it still work? The words would mean the same thing, right?

I had to learn some Latin because it's how different animal and plant species are named. Humans are Homo sapiens, so that's Latin for "wise man". But it's not like learning a language.

Oh a joke name! Does he mind having a joke name? I don't know if you can translate a spell like that...if you just say the words in English not Latin it doesn't do any magic.

I think he likes it. And why does the language matter? I'm not casting spells every time I talk about different plants or animals, am I? No. No, I'm not.

[he giggles] No because saying homo sapiens isn't a spell! You have to say exactly the right words.

But what if you're a, a Mexican doing magic, or from Russia or Kenya or wherever, does it all have to be in Latin?

Um...I don't think so. It's not Latin in every country. Maybe...maybe just in the countries where Ancient Romans used to live?

Soooo... you couldn't say a spell in Spanish, but maybe I could? Would your uncle know?

Maybe. Are you from Spain or Mexico? My uncle would know about it or maybe you could look in a magical theory book?

Did she not teach you some magic? You can ask my uncle if you want.

She didn't, no. But I might do that. Ask your uncle, I mean.
