Having a yoga buddy was actually rather pleasant. The fact that Theo wasn't a chatty Cathy was a bonus. Indigo could share, and discuss, and she wasn't entirely closed off, not at all. But she didn't feel like all silence had to be filled with needless chatter. Quiet, companionable silence could be just as fulfilling as deep, meaningful conversations. And Indigo appreciated someone else who felt the same. She'd taken up yoga years previous, advanced quickly and mastered most of it. But it wasn't about being skilled, she didn't practice yoga to be the best at it. There was a balance to it, a peace and calmness that the routine brought her. She went through a thirty minute routine every day, when she could, just to help her keep that balance. On those few days she couldn't work in her usual work out routine and practice, she'd double up on yoga. It meant that Theo joining her presented it's own challenge. Indie learned things perfectly upon watching them, her skill was as good as whoever taught her. Teaching, showing someone else, was new to her. A challenge. And while she had thought she'd grown out of her competitive nature, she clearly hadn't. Even when those she was competing against were merely figments of her past, she seemed to challenge herself to be a better instructor to Theo than perhaps hers were to her. She didn't start off with anything too hard, working through the basics and mostly just showing Theo how to get started, methods to help where they might be needed; good posture would lead to fewer pains, flexibility and core strength would add to his own strength, and Indie hadn't been misrepresenting when she said it would help sleep and lower stress and anxiety. She found it a very well rounded method to maintain a stable body and mind. After an afternoon session, quiet in the far corner of the gym as it was a little too chilly to do yoga outside yet, Indie took a stab at attempting socialising outside of assigned times. "Would you like to get something to eat?" It was still important to maintain a good, balanced diet, and Indie knew better than to push through workouts, burn off calories and not replace them. And she would welcome more of Theo's company anyway. |
