Kristina put on one of the skimpiest outfits she could find, the one she was normally seen in. Checking her makeup in the mirror she took a deep breath as she left the apartment headed to town. Not managing to find a job yet she regretted not buying a car but headed down to the bar knowing vaguely where it was. After some questioning and turning around she faced the door that read Serpent's Den, reading her PDA she was sure this was the place. Opening the door she looked around, not many people were around but then again it was one of numerous bars. Sitting down she waved at the bartender her voice soft and smooth. "Jack on the rocks please." It was turning quickly into a signature drink almost like her outfit. Timidly she downed the drink then waited wondering if the guy would be able to pick her out of a crowd.

She almost choked when heard his name and looked down at her phone comparing the picture to the real thing. "Hi, I'm Kristina!" Her cheeks flushed slightly and she handed him the glass smiling. "May I have another?" Looking him over she had to admit he was very attractive. Bree was there beneath the surface in case Kristina needed her added confidence but so far she seemed to have it covered.

Kristina? Stefan's eyes widened a little, but he hid the reaction quickly. Hadn't she said her name was Bree, or was he not paying attention? He held out a hand from across the bar. "It's nice to meet you," he grinned. His face colored a little. Stefan was over 165, but first conversations were often awkward, and they tended to make him feel like a much younger man.

He nodded at the drink. "I just made your first. Are you ready for another already, or stocking up." He laughed and picked up a glass just in case.

A small laugh came over her as she bit her lip "My name is Kristina, but a lot of people call me Bree." She wasn't sure if he knew they were the same person, but she didn't want him to think her a no show. Looking down she was nervous because a part of Krisitna had never been with a guy. Bree was her confidence though and she boosted her when needed. I was ready for another but I guess I could take my time and get to know you. The voice was more seductive and softer, more practiced almost.

"That was it. I was thinking it was Bree. Which do you like better?" he asked gently. He could be soft spoken, at least when he was in a good mood. As luck would have it, his mood had improved lately, even in the chaos of the fear toxin, Elena's transformation, and the unknown status of their relationship which he could only assume was friendly at this point.

"What do you think of this place so far. Our host seems to like shaking things up. Where are you from?" He gave her a sweet smile, leaning muscular arms on the counter.

Kristina had flirted a time two with boys in school but ever since her first taste of the monster Bree handled most the flirting. Swallowing thickly she looked up at him from under her dark eyelashes before saying anything. "I come from Reno Texas, United States of America, on Earth." She tried to remember when telling someone something as simple as where you came from turned into brain surgery. "I think this place is alright, not boring that's for sure." She wanted to tell him that she had been in jail before being brought there, she also wanted to add that she knew no one there. For some reason she kept her mouth closed and figured those were better saved for another time.

Reaching over Bree ran her hand down his arm thinking of the many ways she could use him. "I will have that other drink now, please. It really depends on my mood as to what to call me. Sometimes Kristina when I'm innocent, and Bree when I am daring." That was the most non invasive way she knew to explain having split personality disorder. With a proud smile she tilted her head adding gently "So when do you get off work?" It was true Bree hadn't even talked to a man since her last.. Lover?.. She couldn't call him a lover could she? Since her last affair had been sent home. Er, well killed..

"There's a Reno in Texas?" He hadn't heard of it. It sounded all wrong. He had been to Nevada more than once. He loved the nightlife at times. He loved casinos. He had left messes there over the years, but that was something he didn't want to think about. "I'm from Mystic Falls, Virginia. I've traveled a lot." He wasn't sure if he should tell her more than that yet. He liked having a normal conversation for a change and he felt like he could control his own demon for the moment.

"So there are two sides of your personality? Are you feeling bold or daring?" He backed up a little, putting ice in the glass. He picked up the bottle, twirling it again, then poured. "That's about all I can do. I don't have as many fancy bottle tricks as others." He had to admit, he liked this flirting. He had to be so careful with Elena. It was like walking on egg shells, and he had done so much damage. She wouldn't ever forgive all that he had done, and he couldn't guarantee that he could keep his control. It was a stalemate.

He set it next to the first, leaning against the counter again. "It's slow tonight. I can leave in about a half hour."

Kristina tilted her head and laughed softly "Yes there is a Reno in Texas, er well, there was the last I checked." Talking to him came easy and she enjoyed that. Raising her eyesbrows she tried to think of where he was from but couldn't place it especially since she burried her past.

Allowing her cheeks to flush slightly she nodded to his question. No one had ever pinpointed her issues so quickly before. "Yes, something like that. Right now I feel nervous and flirting." Okay it was a bad joke and a little corny but it lightened the mood. Reaching out she slowly took the glass from his hand and easily downed the liquid. "Well I happen to think it is a very neat trick." Her tone was all hers but held a tad bit of darkness to it. Surprising herself she smiled proudly at him relieved to just have a friend. "It's a good thing that I didn't come here to meet the others. Well I will just have to sit here and wait to make sure you don't foreget me for some other cute blonde." She couldn't help herself, she was having too much fun but perhaps was letting loose too quickly.

"No need to be nervous. I like having you here," he replied easily. He wasn't the best at flirting either, truth be told. He did have issues of his own, and was still toying with the idea of telling her. He couldn't keep the secret in the way he had with Elena. Too many people knew, but he couldn't predict her reaction either, and he didn't want her to run for the door.

He poured himself a shot, and took it. It wouldn't get him drunk in any way, but he didn't want to start thinking about cravings either. He wanted to keep those away. "This place is full of heroes and other things, and here you are with me. Who have you met so far?" It was kind of a ridiculous question, but he was testing the waters.

"I like being here, and well here with you." Her voice was sweet and almost innocent as she gazed at him wondering what he was thinking. Bree was in the back of her mind but was pretty content from her recent fix so Kristina didn't need her for confidence any time soon.

Thinking over his question she tried to recall all the people she had met from the past couple months. "I'm not sure, I have been here for a couple months. A couple girls.. Jonathan Crane, er well the old one. I think that is about it actually." Wrinking her nose she felt the warmth from the shots shoot up her spine. "Why, am I supposed to have met someone paticular?"

Biting her lip she knew it was true Colligo was full of heroes but she didn't care. Most of the time she kept to herself in the dark alley way between the library and her apartment. Shifting her weight on the chair she tried to decide for another shot yet or not. "I really only talk to those that approach me and I guess I am the type of girl who doesn't go for good guys." Instantly she regretted her comment praying he wasn't a good guy and she didn't just kill her chances.

"Wasn't Crane the fear toxin guy?" he asked. There was a light smile on his lips. He didn't blame her. He had spent time with Katherine, the original honey badger.

"What do you think I am? Am I some normal guy, or something worse?" In his opinion, worse, even though he had done some good. When he wasn't a ripper, he was good. Most called him a boy scout. He didn't think he deserved it. He actually hated it. He was a monster at a masquerade, but he was also harder on himself than he should be most of the time.

A nervous look crossed her face for a fraction of a second and then disappeared. "Yes, indeed he was the fear toxin guy." She decided it was probably best if she didn't bring up how she was his whore. "May I have another shot?" A giggle escaped her as she tried to steady herself on the bar stool. So only three shots made her a little tipsy but she as a lightweight anyway just by her stature alone.

Pausing she tried to make up an answer but there wasn't one on the tip of her tongue. Bree wasn't paying enough attention to the conversation to offer any help either. "I am not sure what you are. I have a thing with monsters though.." covering her mouth as her eyes got wide she tried to make up why she said that. "I mean it's just.. Well.. I think you are someone amazing!" It was a cover up and even someone who hadn't been in the conversation could have known that much.

"From what I've read on the net, he fooled a few people. He would have done really well with my ex. Katherine is a piece of work." He was trying to make her feel better. He couldn't really judge anyone for being taken in by someone who had a nasty streak. He had done it.

"Monsters, huh." Maybe that was the opening he was looking for. "I don't know how amazing I am as a monster. I - ", he paused, taking a deep breath. "I usually don't tell people this, but it's pretty easy to find out here. I don't really have to remain unknown like I do at home. I'm a vampire." He wasn't sure if she would believe him or not. He looked so normal, even if a little pale. He was also a daywalker thanks to the ring on his hand. He was a monster in a very nice package.

Everything he said to her made her unsure if she was too intoxicated of it it was really true. Kristina had already met a witch recently so this would be one more thing to add to her list. "Well I never would have known but here I guess it's expected. I am human!" She was trying to joke away the very awkward moment for her. With a deep sigh she leaned across the table with a serious look. "I have seen many weird things here but I never would have thought vampires lived." Please do not get us eaten Bree had come to just from the pure adrenaline that was running into her veins.

Offering a nervous smile she nudged him gently and almost gently. "I don't care what you are, you are a very nice guy who I would love to pour me another shot." Brilliant white teeth beamed up at him as she made a hopeful attempt at redeeming their flirting. "I just am not good at dealing with situations. I have no flight response and well like I said I do have a problem with monsters." It was a light tone but she was thankful about him being honest with her.

"Don't worry," he grinned lightly, pouring the next shot. "I won't hurt you. I promise." He knew that he could keep it together when he wanted to, and he did. If he didn't feel like he could, he wouldn't have agreed to meet anyone. "Vampires exist, but we don't exactly live. I died when I was 17, but I'm over 160 now. There are several of us here."

He set the shot on the table in front of her. "You are doing fine. Most people run from the room, or at least give me that freaked look. I do drink blood but the blood bank is keeping us with a good supply. They don't exactly know that, but we do what we have to."

Bree held a brilliant look in her eyes as Kristina freaked a little on the inside. The pure adrenaline was better than the fix had been the other night and both together was amazing. "I didn't think you were going to hurt me." I mean unless you are luring us into a terrible trap Just because Bree was confidence didn't mean Bree wanted to die. "So everything I have heard about vampires are correct except that they are just monsters in our imaginations." There really were things that went bump in the night and that bothered her.

"Eww.. So not kissing you" Sticking her tongue out she made a grossed out look then took the shot again easily. Rocking on the bar stool slightly she looked around for a watch. "Well I guess I really do have a thing with monsters." Her biggest monster was herself but no one needed to know that.

Stefan looked down and laughed, taking another shot himself. "Did you know that alcohol makes the craving for blood much less?" He was teasing her a little about it. She was handling it pretty well, but he could tell she was nervous. "Really, I won't hurt you. I bet there is a lot about vampires you don't know. Now is your chance. Ask me anything." Now that he was talking about it, and she wasn't running away, he felt good. It actually felt good just to talk to someone.

The second bartender came by. Stefan stopped him for a minute to say he was leaving soon. It was a slow night anyway. "After all this, we could go for a walk, if you still want to."

Raising her eyebrows she grimaced slightly "No I did not know that, but I will definitely have to keep alcohol in my room now." She paused mouth open as she realized what she had said and implied. With a deep sigh she reached across the counter and ran her fingers softly down his arm watching his reaction. She did believe that he wouldn't hurt her but she wasn't going to let him know the only reason she wasn't fleeing was because she couldn't.

"I don't know a thing about vampires, other than stories and what you have told me about blood." Kristina racked her brain for questions but not many were coming up at the moment. "So what about being able to walk in light, I mean are all the old stories true?" That seemed like a general question but it made her seem interested, it wasn't that she wasn't interested she just wasn't sure how to go about things. Smiling she winked at the other bartender just out of habit but it was harmless. "I can try to walk, not very sure about my ability at this point. Why wouldn't I still want to?" She knew the reason he asked the question but she wasn't afraid of him.

"Most of the stories, depending on what you hear, are kind of true. I can walk in the daylight, and I don't sparkle." He had heard of Twilight, and was a little horrified by the whole sparkling issue. "Most of us cannot walk in the daylight."

He leaned towards her, "I can always carry you home. We do have that strength." He grabbed a towel, wiping the bar down, getting ready to go. It wouldn't take long.

"I was 17 when I became a vampire. I was seeing a girl, and so was my brother. She was a vampire. I wanted to leave when I found out but she compelled me to drink her blood. My dad found out that she was a vampire, and they went to round them all up and trap them in a tomb. My brother and I were killed trying to help her." He shrugged, as he cleaned. "The bad thing was that she had a plan the whole time. She didn't even need us in on it." Katherine had been a real piece of work, and he was glad she wasn't still here.

Picking up her shot glass she tried to decide if she needed another shot or not. The warmth of the alcohol kept Bree away but the adrenaline of him being a monster made Bree aware. Her insides felt like a tornado but more her mind than anything. "Alcohol makes my inner monster stay quiet.." She barely whispered the words talking more to herself than anything else. "Carrying me, now that would be a funny site. You know I would have fallen for you without knowing what you are, but knowing what you are kind of intrigues me." She wasn't sure if she could deal with having Bree aware all the time but she would try for him.

Biting her lip Kristina wondered if he had a girlfriend here or how the story ended... "Do you have family, or a girl here?"
Okay she wasn't calling him a cheater or a player she just wanted to see if there was anything to worry about. Standing up she wobbled a little but stayed on her own feet. She wasn't running she was just trying to make sure she could walk out of the place. "I don't see you as a monster, I have worse monsters than you." Didn't really make much sense to her and she figured it wouldn't to him but she was a bit drunk. Bree was a bad monster who made her burn every bridge and hurt every person she ever crossed. These were things that she wasn't going to tell him on the first date though. She was flirting and having a good time it wasn't polite to make the mood all depressed. With one blink she felt her stomach flop and bent over praying the contents stayed in.

Stefan looked down and tapped his ring against the table. "This ring. It was given to me a long time ago, and so I've never been without it." He didn't take it off, but held out his hand so she could get a better look. "In this movie or book there are vampires that sparkle in sunlight. It's really weird."

Stefan would love to say that he was civilized, and he was most of the time. He could really fake it well, but then there were those times, when his addiction was speaking much louder, that he didn't have the same control. Instead, he chose to avoid it. Explaining his addiction wasn't something he wanted to do right now.

"My ex-girlfriend is here, along with my brother and his new wife. I kind of ruined our relationship beyond repair, and that's pretty much it. How about you? Anyone special, or a guy back home?" Discussing Elena wasn't a good idea either. He didn't think they would end up back together at any point, or it would have happened already.

He finished up his work, and picked up his jacket. "Do you want to try and walk? I wasn't joking about carrying you. It's one of those vampire benefits."

Leaning slightly over the counter she reached her hand out tentatively and took his ring hand in hers. Running her fingers over the ring she smiled glad that if she wanted to hang out with him it could be in light. "That is really kind of pretty. Sparking vampires that kind of defeats the purpose of them being evil scary creatures." As soon as the words came out of her mouth she regretted them. "I am so sorry, I mean you aren't scary or evil."

Blushing Kristina felt a ping of worry as he mentioned his ex was there. He had family there at least, but she didn't have anyone. With a deep sigh she tried to ignore the comment and replied softly "No one from back home is here, no boyfriend here either. I am just alone here by myself." Her tone was kind of making her feel like a loser all alone. For a moment she thought of back home but figured now wasn't a time for that. "No one back home either." Okay he wasn't going to believe a girl looking like she did and flirting the way she did was innocent but it was worth a shot.

Biting her lip some she wondered where the date was going from that point. "I think I can try to walk first." Laughing she turned and took a few steps wobbling. While she was waiting for him to join her she turned and called over her shoulder. "Are we going back to my place, yours, or somewhere else?" Bree flicked awake wondering why Kristina was trusting someone she just met, and a vampire on top of that.

There were times in his life when he was alone, years at a time actually. There were times when just the smell of a human drove him crazy. He was a lot better now. He knew that when she touched him. He enjoyed it, and he had missed it. He could still hold Elena's hand but there was something missing. "The ring is a Lapus Lazuli. It was enchanted by a witch years ago. That is how I walk in sunlight." His hand move over hers lightly. He liked the touch, and being with someone he didn't feel the need to apologize to over and over for the things he had done.

"I'm sorry there's no one here with you. I suppose you can consider it a fresh start. You can make some friends here, like me." He smiled gently, knowing she was still a bit nervous about his monster status. There wouldn't have been a way to keep it quiet. "I can't believe that back home you don't have a few men chasing you."

When she moved, he caught up quickly, putting an arm around her for support. He took her own arm and wrapped it around his waist. "It's up to you where we go. I don't live far away, or your place works too." He didn't have a roommate, so there was plenty of room and no one to answer to.

Kristina saw a flicker of something she thought but figured it was just because she was drunk. Feeling another man made her smile, it was someone she didn't have to be afraid of. Realizing that she accidently blurted "It's nice to have a guy here that I don't have to be afraid of. Jonathan.." Her voice died off suddenly as she spoke forcing her to bite her lip. She didn't mean to open up so fast but he had used her as his whore and tore down her spirit some. Shaking her head she tried again. "This place is far better than jail, and I would like to make new friends here, and maybe even more." It was a subtle hint but Kristina knew that was all it would take. "Bree had a few but no relationships so to speak." Grimicing a tiny bit she hoped he wouldn't consider her to be a whore either.

His arm around her felt nice and steadied the spinning world. In a moment she leaned into him a feeling of warmness shot through her. Looking up at him from beneath dark lashes Kristina blushed slightly. "I think your place will probably be best since I'm not sure I can make it far." After a couple steps she stumbled around and almost fell once. With a deep sigh she whispered "I'm really sorry, sometimes I think I can handle more than I should." Raising an eyebrow she wondered if her body was doing anything to him. He said alcohol helped the crave but she knew alcohol mixed with adrenaline, and the monster, would have her blood racing. Inside her mind Bree buzzed but she pretended like nothing was going through her mind.

Stefan had a firm grip, even if to him, she was light as a feather. "I won't do that to you. I will tell you more about Katherine sometime. She was a bitch with a bonus dose." He wasn't even sure what Jonathan had done, but that didn't really matter. From what Stefan had heard, that was a bad guy. He was on the same level as Klaus in Stefan's book. He was quite sure that he treated her better by even saying hello politely.

He was still a bit confused about Bree. He didn't realize the severity of the split. He thought it was just another name, like an alias, who seemed to take on a life of her own. He had a few of those over the years to keep from being tracked, especially when the ripper had taken control. "Bree is another person?" he asked, wishing there was a better way to ask.

He pushed the door open, calling good night over his shoulder, waving with a free hand. "You can always ride on my back, or I can carry you. It's easy. Alcohol doesn't have as much of an effect on me unless I finish the whole bottle, but it's easy to get carried away with it."

Kristina wanted so badly to believe his words and a part of her did. The small part that she was in charge of. A small laugh escaped her as he reassured her, she wasn't being rude just too drunk to manage it. "Ah, well..." The words didn't make much sense but it was some kind of response at least.

Feeling the cool air made her smile as she could smell fall around her. She thought about his question and the best way to answer it. Pausing for a moment she looked him over and decided that he deserved to know. "I used to be a straight A student. Never got into trouble, never even been with a guy. Then I went to see my father for the summer. I took my first taste of the Monster and created Bree for confidence. After that things were never the same... She ruined everything that was good to me and burnt every bridge I made. When she is in control I'm helpless like watching my life through a dream. When I am in control she can still influence my thoughts and take advantage of the situation." With a thick swallow she looked down at the ground wondering if it made sense. "Here, is a fresh start and I am trying to learn to control her. Trying to fight the urge of the monster. Alcohol helps in that area.."

For a moment she wondered what he was talking about by being carried away, and she prayed it meant alcohol. Snuggling against him she shut her eyes enjoying his presence and strength. "I've never had someone take care of me." Her words were soft and at a nod she tried to decide if she could trust him to carry her without dropping her, and without hurting her. "I guess I could let you carry me, if you don't think I am up for the walk." A teasing smile brushed her lips as she opened her eyes and looked daringly at him.
