Bo, what have you gotten me into this time?

That's definitely one way of putting it.

Nice to meet you too.

So. All I've got so far is that there are others here and apparently at least some of you don't get along so well with at least one certain vampire. Care to fill me in a little, let me know what's what? I hate going in blind.

Erm. Okay, if you want an essay. I think there are five of us in total, including you.

There's me, and I've more or less got control of the whole thing now. Sometimes I change when I get pissed off and stuff, and the full moon takes a bit of effort. But whatever.

And then there's Remus. Do you have the Harry Potter books where you're from? He's the guy from them, only he's just 21 at the moment. He used to only transform with the moon but... I dunno, a load of crap happened. Someone died and powers got switched. Anyway, now he transforms in pretty much the same way I do.

There's two more - Tyler, who's just a kid really, and a woman I think's called Jules. They change with the moon, as far as I can tell, and they're the ones who don't get on with the vampires. I can't tell you much of the details about that - people killed other people, peoples friends got angry... The drama's all a bit lost on me, to be honest. I just fix computers, mostly.

And I feel this is probably the point when I should ask for your werewolf résumé?

Well. At least your essay doesn't beat the one made by that Caroline girl. And thanks, for the info.

As for me, I have control and have since I was a child. My temper can set me off, just like yours can, but it tends to take quite a bit to get me to fully transform and go for the kill.

Where I'm from, each Fae is born into a clan and marked accordingly. You remain with your clan, learning of the ins and outs of what you can do and how to maintain control. When you come of age, you choose a side: Light or Dark. That side becomes your means of survival, your protection against the other side.

As adults, we're given jobs in the human world that can assist our kind. For example, I'm a cop. I work to both solve Fae-related crimes as well as hide them from the human law enforcement. The rest of the world remains blissfully unaware of our existence, I get a steady paycheck, and the few of the Fae who break the rules and step out of line get round up much faster than they would with just humans involved.

And that's about the long and short of it. I can get into more specifics if you have any questions.

There are clans back home, but I'm just... not in one. I was found running around as a kid and got taken in by Doc Dr Magnus. She specialises in studying abnormals, so I work for her now. We keep tabs on them, I guess - sometimes people fight the fighty ones. It kind of sounds similar to what you guys do back home?

But like I said; i'm just the in-house computer geek.

'Light or dark'? That sounds a bit Star Wars ominous.

You were separated from your clan as a child? That's virtually unheard of, in my world.

And yes, I guess it does sound a bit ominous. Bo would definitely agree with you and works tirelessly to point out how very neutral she is every chance she's given. That, also, is virtually unheard of in my world.

I don't really remember what happened, to be honest. But there you go. I'm almost completely sane, so clearly it didn't do too much harm.

Don't you ever have a teeny bit of a problem when it comes to picking a side? What if someone picks one side but then decides they'd rather be on the other? Sounds like a minefield to me.

No offence.

You're very fortunate. That is hardly ever the case, where I'm from.

No offense taken and you're right. It is a minefield the majority of the time. But until Bo came along, no one had ever openly dared not to pick a side. As a child, that's what you're raised to do. It's what's expected and refusal means certain death. As far as having a problem picking sides, more often than not families tend to stick together. Light with Light, Dark with Dark. There are neutral areas as well but typically, once a Fae has chosen their side, they remain loyal to it. There are always exceptions, of course, but they're few and far between.

I suppose that makes sense. Mental sense, but sense. Makes the Sanctuary seem almost normal But you're right - I was lucky. Sounds like I had it quite easy. Apart from the 'Oh, hey! You're a werewolf!' thing.
