So. Um. In case you all haven't noticed, Angel is Angelus. An Angelus that's leaving a trail of bodies for Darla to follow. And, well, if what's going on in the city seems to be a trend, my guess is that he's Angelus Angelus. As in, before a soul at all Angelus.

Which would be fine, since I have an Orb of Thesulah in the storeroom.

Only, it's gone now. Not stolen and not broken. Just sorta... poofed, into thin air. Which means that the whole re-ensouling him thing is out until I can track down another one.

So if anybody has any ideas on what we can do until then? That would be super.

Buffy, I'm totally looking at you. Wes, you too. Unless someone else has a plan. Because I'm open for anything at this point. Besides, you know, killing him unless it's an absolute last resort.

That was the orb in the tin, right? I had noticed that it was missing.

That would be the orb. The one I kinda sorta have to have if i want to stick his soul back in him.

Wait. Hold the freaking phone. You noticed it was missing and didn't say anything? How does that work? You walked into the storeroom, saw that the one thing we need to re-ensoul a vampire had gone poof and then, what? Went for tea?

Just how strong is he like this? Is there any way to capture him and lock him up somewhere without a lot of people getting hurt?

[info]thecallofmagic
2012-04-23 03:03 pm UTC (link)
I guess that would depend on how long he's been all vampy. Giles always said that vamps get stronger, the longer they're, you know, a vampire. With his referencing Darla, it's from before his soul but that's covering a lot of area that the two of them were all cutting a bloody swath across Europe together...

If he's less than a hundred at the moment, I can give you guys a hand in downing him. And I could ask the others for a hand as well. Together, Stefan, Lexi, and I have a good number of centuries between us.

If we cannot reensoul him, then we need to kill him. It's really quite simple.

Either he will come back, or he'll be grateful that we abided by his wishes. Angel would rather die than allow Angelus to kill even one more innocent than necessary.

I'm all for just knocking his ass out and shoving him into a cage until this shit is over with.

Did it once, I'll do it again.

This isn't last time, Faith.

He won't want to play games with you. He has no idea who you are. He'll just want to kill you.

I don't want him to play games, Wes. I just don't want him to kill people.

I'll do what I have to.

You aren't understanding me, Faith. When he wants to play games, he actually does less killing. He draws it out. We have time to think of strategies. Now, he's little more than a vicious, sociopathic animal.

I know you and Angel have bonded, but this isn't solely up to you.

You know, this isn't solely up to you either, Wes. Just because you're convinced it's what needs to be done doesn't mean the rest of us agree.

Simple? No! That's not simple, Wes. That's complicated and messy and obviously he's just affected by what's going on in the city. We need options, not a big fat stake to the heart without even trying.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]lostallreason
2012-04-23 11:17 pm UTC (link)
As a matter of fact, it is that simple.

None of us matter to him. This isn't Angel reverting to Angelus. This is purely Angelus. He's never been Angel. He will leave a trail of bodies a mile long if we don't stop him. I'm not going to leave Angel to deal with that.

You knew him in Sunnydale, Willow. While I greatly respect your power, you weren't there for the things we went through together. We have always had the understanding that if it came down to it, we would kill Angelus.

If you became evil again, and there was every chance your death would be a temporary thing, would you rather the people you care about to risk their lives trying to save you, or would you want them to be prepared to kill you to stop you from hurting people? If you didn't even have the memory of them, for some reason or another, to even hope that they might be able to bring you back?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]thecallofmagic
2012-04-23 11:34 pm UTC (link)
No, it isn't that simple and you trying to claim it is doesn't make it any less true. Sure, you went through heavy stuff with him but funny how, when he was Angelus the last time, I was still called up to come to town and stick a soul back in him. Or did you forget that? And just because he's not Angel-then-Angelus doesn't matter much. In fact, it might be easier to track him since he won't be trying to be sneaky and all game-playing.

I respect you Wes, I do. But there's no reason we can't stick him someplace until we can sort this out and figure out a way. Just because I can't re-ensoul him doesn't mean someone else in this city can't.

And as for me? First off, you're out of line, Mister. You don't want me trying to pretend I know what you guys went through in L.A.? Then back off what happened in Sunnydale after you ditched town. Secondly, I'd want my friends to try to help me before just sticking a fork in me and calling me done because, by golly, that's what friends do.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]lostallreason
2012-04-23 11:47 pm UTC (link)
This isn't up to you, Willow. You may think it is, but it's not. We have an agreement with Angel. It is what he would want. And the fact that he isn't being sneaky and game playing just means that he'll be that much quicker to kill people.

Do you really think that? Why do you think the orb suddenly disappeared? I very much doubt our host will allow him to be reensouled. We involved you last time because there was a means, however remote to reensoul him. Trying to keep him locked up just ended in people dying.

I'm not referring to what happened in Sunnydale, I'm asking you what you would want if you did go evil and couldn't remember anyone. Because if you did remember, I know you would absolutely come back from that place because you're one of the strongest people I've ever met. But if you didn't have those memories, containment wouldn't necessarily be enough to stop you. And I don't think it will be for him. What's to stop Asaph from letting him out of any cage you put him in?

I am not willing to go against my word to my friend and leave him with the guilt he'll feel over the things Angelus will surely do.

I never said this was up to me. Not even once. In fact, I'm the one that asked for opinions from all of us to start with, so don't you dare insinuate anything to the contrary.

I'm done discussing this with you. I'm going to find a solution that doesn't involve your one-and-only plan. Help or don't, I really don't care.

Likewise, Wes.

Not a problem at all. I killed Spike and I actually know and like him. Not to mention, I have experience in turning against friends and family. Sure, my situation was more mind control and less lack of a soul, but still. Push comes to shove, I would want somebody to put me out of my misery, and fast, if I went that way again.

Since when do they have any say in his life?

I was under the impression they'd turned their backs on him when he made the choices he did regarding Wolfram and Hart. And now it's entirely up to them.

This is bloody ridiculous.

They don't get a say. The only reason this is even open for debate is because we keep arguing with them.

I vote we let them work on their little plan to trap him. We, meanwhile, grab Ashley - and whoever else we can find that's willing to help - and deal with the situation head-on before he manages to track down sorority row or an orphanage or something.

I think we should just do what we did last time, Red.

You know without all of the weird Beast and Beast master that tried to keep the Orb from us.

And if we can't do that, then we get rid of him. But only as a last resort.

(Reply to this) (Thread)

[info]thecallofmagic
2012-04-23 03:05 pm UTC (link)
That's the thing though. Last time, there was an orb. Sure there was a big, fat evil keeping me from it but it was still there. This time? Not so much. I can't track it, I can't spot it, it's like it's just vanished about the time he showed up.

I don't want to kill him. I don't. But I can't give him back his soul without that orb.

At the very least, we have to restrain him first, before he kills lots and lots of people.

Then when we have him all tied up, we'll.. figure it out. I mean if you really really can't find it. Then I'll do what I gotta do.

So back to work we go on his soul. Do we have anywhere to hold him if we need it until we can get the soul back?

SSDD definitely applies here.

I've pretty much been spending all of my time trying to figure out where the orb went. Without it, I can't give him back his soul. Heck, I'm not even all that positive it would work with the orb, what with this not being earth and the magic being all weird and different, but at least with the orb we had a shot. Now... I just don't know.

I can try to work on some kind of magical containment spot, I guess. I'm not sure if there's any place with cages that'll hold him around here or not.

That doesn't leave a lot of options. Where is Spike when I need him? Oh, he's probably spewing poetry in the coffee house. Why now?

But, okay. What kind of weapons do we have because I am a few short? Now if we can't find an orb, or it doesn't work, we need to be ready. I did hear that people could be killed here and come back, right? It might come to that.

If we don't have an orb of whatever to turn him back into Angel, then we have to dust him. There's no other option. Locking him up is too risky and we can't let him run amok, slaughtering the town folk at his leisure.

There isn't any way to reensoul him without the orb, is there? I don't want to say we should kill him...but right now, I'm not seeing any other options. Sure, there's locking him up, but we'd have to figure out how we'd go about doing that without one of us getting killed in the process.
