Summary: James tells Sirius about his conversation with Severus and Moody
James should have told Sirius sooner, but he was still turning things in his own head, trying to make sense of what they had told him. Dumbledore was dying. They wanted the three of them to take over. He was also trying to figure out what they weren't saying. They weren't too happy with his father taking control, too much power. James could see their worry, but as much as he fought with his father, he trusted him to do the right thing in the end. Of course, the definition of 'the right thing' was a fluid one, and he could see how his father and Severus, or his father and Dumbledore wouldn't agree. But was all of this enough to make him want to do it? The consequences would be staggering, and in the end this was not a decision that he could make without Sirius.
He didn't say anything through dinner, giving Sirius some sort of normality for at least a few more hours, knowing that no matter what the outcome of their decision would be, things wouldn't be the same. He waited until they were in bed to finally summon the energy to speak up.
James kept the torch near his side of the bed on, and turned toward Sirius. His hand rested on Sirius' flat stomach and looked at his husband. "I need your help in making a decision, and it's... unexpected to say the least. Dumbledore isn't that pleased with the way things went after he died, so he's preparing things so the Order would continue smoothly after his death. However, instead of waiting, he wants to put things in motions now. He picked a replacement for himself as well, not one person, but three: Severus, Moody and... and me, if I say yes, and I have no clue what to say."
