RP: Lunch!
Characters: Benjy, Ron
Time/Date: Lunch, November 10
Location: Ministry lunch room
Warnings/Rating: None
Summary: Benjy is sleepy but reading
Status: Complete

This morning's training had been ... better. Not as horrifically frustrating as prior days had been, but they were definitely refining their communication techniques. There was a learning curve, after all, and they just had to figure out how to relate to one another.

So that was getting better. He didn't feel quite so patronized anymore, and his trainers generally gave him a sort of look and he'd learned to respond to that if he needed elaboration or not on any particular point of 'standard' knowledge.

It wasn't horrific, but it was still daunting. He thought he was doing all right though.

With a book on the table in front of him, Benjy was working through his lunch while reading up on the latest theories regarding the returning dead. It was ... naturally ... of significant interest to him. None of them seemed right, but he wasn't sure any theory would seem right.

Once he finished the packet on those theories, Benjy brushed away the crumbs and pulled the charms book closer to him. "A drone's work is never done," he said with a sigh, though he grinned as he said it.

"You had Professor Snape, right?" he guessed. He looked about that age, and while Benjy was half inclined to ask Ron if he knew Lily Evans at all, he figured it was best not to give the first impression of a gossiper. Because he wasn't; it wasn't really gossip, right? It was just ... asking if they had a mutual friend in common with one another. But all the same, he grinned knowingly, nodding his head as if he knew exactly what Ron meant.

"Ah. Dorcas. Meadowes. Recently returned as well and my ... ah. Girlfriend," he admitted, though he was still getting used to the concept of having a girlfriend.

He was highly amused by Ron's realization and then second realization. He laughed softly and waved it off. It was history, it was past, and he'd be more careful this time around. "I'll do that then. Maybe drag Cas along with me. Your mum still cooks, right?" He really wasn't above leaning on people for actual cooked food that wasn't take-away.

"Snape, yeah," Ron said. "Probably one of the one classes to actually have him as a Potions prof, since he switched to defense in our sixth and then... well..." Ron had never really know what to make of what he considered to be Snape's sudden switch to the side of Order. He understood it in theory, and he respected the man for it and all, but it didn't mean that had to like the man. Probably best that he didn't say too much about him if he could avoid it. Then again, he'd never been all that great at that.

"Ah, right then," he said with a nod. The name... sounded familiar too, but he figured it wasn't much of his business to pry too deep, particular with the hesitation around speaking her name. It was probably a new thing, he thought. But he had a point of reference, that was all that mattered.

"Mum still cooks," he said with a grin. "Probably enough to feed a family, even though it's just her and Dad now. She'd probably like the company if you wanted to drop by. Tell you all about how the return from the dead left you far too skinny."

Benjy nodded slightly to Ron's assessment, wondering if Lily knew anything more about that. Deciding it wasn't anything he particularly cared about, he was content enough to let it go.

He grinned and wondered if this conversation was awkward for Ron. Or if he didn't know of Cas. Really, Benjy wasn't sure how much their names actually would have been around. They certainly weren't history book material ... just casualties. After all, most of the world wasn't going to know that they'd been in the Order and working against Voldemort.

"Maybe I will do just that," Benjy agreed with a soft laugh before he noted the time. "And speaking of food, looks like my break's about over. Nice meeting you," he said with a grin as he started to gather up his things to head out. "Back to the salt mines," he quipped playfully.

Ron pulled a face, glaring at the clock a bit. "I need a Time-Turner," he decided finally before he cleared off his table, tossing his trash in the bin and offering a smile to Benji. "Thanks. It was good to meet you. Should I tell Mum and Dad to expect you, or would you rather surprise them?"

He grinned a bit at that, and thought he might like to see it. His mum answering the door and being all bewildered and confused because Benji was supposed to be dead, before remembering she'd read about him in the prophet and then bustling about. He thought it would be good for her, though - he was pretty bad about visiting, and he didn't think Bill, Charlie or George was any better. Ginny might be, but that was a girl thing. Girls were better about that. He thought Hermione saw a lot more of her mother than he did.

Really something he needed to keep in mind next weekend.

Benjy laughed quietly. "Think I'll surprise them. It'll be more fun all around," he said with a grin. Unless he gave one of them a heart attack, but his name had been in the paper as a returned formerly deceased, so he wasn't too worried about that part.

"See you 'round," he said as he lifted a hand in a wave to Ron, whistling as he gathered up his books to head out.
