Who: Jeremy Tell & Beth Hastings
When: January 12th, 1:30am
Where: Out and about town
What: Drinking in the dark
Rating: High! (For language, adult fun, and stuff.)
Night had fallen over the city blanketing it in darkness, yet one man silently strolled down the sidewalk apparently unphased by the lack of lights. Oh the handful of street lights gave off a soft glow, but that lack of light did not matter. After all the dark was where Jeremy would always belong, waiting patiently to strike a target, or just staying out of sight. The life of a merc, and assassin for hire, typically was devoid of much in the way of socialization. Since it wasn't as if he was free to converse about his occupation over fries and a malt shake. No, he had been alone for quite a while. Granted there were always a few exceptions to the self imposed isolation; though those 'exceptions' tended to consist of a casino or just a back room game of cards. However there was little exchanged, as far as words were concerned, when he was playing poker.
Cards, wealth, and profiting off of death was all that really mattered to the man. Yet even a man like him, one who possessed unnatural abilities that most would consider to be freakish, wasn't immune to the strangeness that came with waking up here. Jeremy had rushed through the emotional range; rushing right through confusion, fear, denial, and settling at last on anger. Still there was little he could do to change his current predicament. After all he had done his homework by gathering what intel he could from the network, and when he learned that there was no way out...well the urges of his kicked in.
Not eager to bring down any heat or attention, his focus shifted from violence to his other vices. It took a little while to locate a backroom game, but the cards and strong drinks helped take the edge of considerably. After a few hours of gambling the man took his leave, up nearly a grand, but in need of a few more drinks. The plan was to wander a while, in hopes of finding a liquor store or open bar. What he hadn't planned on was being followed. He hadn't seen her at first, nor knew what to think, yet as he ducked into the alley a card appeared in his hand as if by magic. With a single swift movement of his arm the card flew far, until it cut into the street lamp above...blacking out the light altogether. With two new cards in each of his hands the man silently sought out the one stalking him...yet Jeremy frowned when he could not even catch a glimpse of her.
The lack of light didn't bother him in the least, but facing the unknown annoyed Jeremy to no end. So with a sigh he finally shook his head, and called out into the darkness around him. "I'm all for a bit of cat and mouse, but this game is growing tedious with ever passing minute. If you have business with me speak up, or I will take my leave and get to drinking like I wanted before this began."
