Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:ichabod crane, plot: fables, vasilissa

Who: Cole & Ileana
What: Ileana got tore up by the vamp. Medical attention and couple hiding.
Where: 802
When: A bit after 4:30 in the morning. (g2b, everyone) During the Fable Plot.
Warnings: Icky blood and hurt/comfort probably.
Notes: Started here in the hall and ended here.

The walk up to 802 was a hazy memory, overlapped with nightmares of teeth and glowing skulls in the woods. She floated in and out of a state of semi-consciousness, making a grumpy noise when Cole jostled her enough to raise her awareness back to the world around her. All she wanted was to sleep for awhile. She was beginning to worry that perhaps this was a trick by the Baba Yaga. Make her feel safe, then punish the girl for failure of her task.

She couldn't find it in herself to ask too many questions -- wherever they were was warm and inviting and Cole(?) was a strong enough presence that she didn't find it in her to struggle. The only protest Cole got after they made it inside the apartment when he set her down, moving her to be sitting up rather than laying down. Sleep was creeping back in her mind, Ileana slumped back and looked around, "Where're we..?"

Cole didn't recognize the language, but he did have somewhat of an idea as to the nature of what she was saying. "Sorry," he winced. He had no idea how to tell whether a wound was clean or not, but the blood was gone, and it didn't look as bad as it had before.

"It doesn't look too bad." Maybe she needed a hospital, but how was he supposed to get to one? He didn't even know where to find one, and somehow he doubted a doctor would believe that a vampire had attacked her. "Most of the bleeding has stopped, but I'm not a doctor. I think - for now - some bandages will do." Cole turned back to the first aid kid, frowning. Gauze sounded right, somehow; and adhesive tape would stick, wouldn't it?

"No, you can't go to sleep yet." His reply was slightly distracted as he tried to place the gauze over her wound without pressing down too hard. "I know you want to, but right now it's not a good idea."

"It doesn't hurt too much -- just a little shock," Ileana assured him when she saw him wince. The stinging sensation faded off as he cleaned the wound and Ileana took time to just watch Cole carefully. She wished she knew why her memories felt all muddled, as if someone overlaid two separate reels of memories in her mind. He was, though, currently the only person who hadn't made a threat of death this evening, so she was certain this was the safest place to be.

Tilting her head a little more for Cole to be able to tape the gauze in place. She tested her wrist that Vlad had a hold of earlier, attempting to rotate it just as a check for herself, cringing a little at the sudden shot of pain up her arm. She couldn't be sure what was wrong with her wrist, but Ileana doubt the news would be good. When Cole finally pulled back, she reached up to touch the bandage and smiled in satisfaction. "Thank you, Cole."

Once the gauze was secured in place, Cole turned his attention to her arm. The bruises would be there for a while, but he wasn't sure if there was anything that could be done for them. Still, he caught her wince of pain, and he thought that her wrist might be sprained - if not broken. Damn... how were injured wrists treated?

"You're welcome. Your wrist - how badly does it hurt? How much can you move it?" Somehow his mind felt clearer inside rather than out in the hallway, but what he knew where his normal memories kept being interrupted by things that didn't make any sense at all.

Ileana held out her wrist to Cole, showing that she could only half rotate it. It was darkly bruised and appeared swollen still. "It hurts when I move it, but my whole arm does. He sort of had me in like, an arm lock with it twisted up behind my back. I feel it all the way up to my shoulder."

"I don't think it's broken... but it's probably sprained." Cole paused, taking a moment to admire his own sudden knowledge before continuing. "I think, uh, you might need a doctor - but right now it'd be best to stay here. At least until..." Until what? Dawn? Vampires were weaker in the daylight, but he was pretty sure it didn't do a lick of good with wolves.

"Anyway. I'm sure whoever's letting me stay here won't mind. You need rest, but don't sleep just yet, okay?" He offered a smile, trying to look as reassuring as he could.

She didn't get why she couldn't sleep yet, but Ileana had to assume it had something to do with the medical things she had really little idea about. Instead, she nodded her head and looked very serious, "I'll stay awake."

There was a pause when she looked down at herself. Her clothes were smeared with blood, especially startling against the white of the top. With a wrinkle of her nose, Ileana questioned Cole, "Do you think you have anything I can change in to? I really don't want to sit around in this for...however long."

"Oh!" God, he was such an idiot - he'd left her to sit there in bloodstained clothes while all she probably wanted was something clean and dry. "I'm sorry, I just-- it's hard to focus." Cole helped to her feet, gesturing towards the bathroom. "You can, uh, have a shower if you want. Most of my clothes might not fit quite right, but at least it would be something."

He could feel a headache coming on, but he refused to give in to the notion that he was Ichabod Crane, a teacher in Sleepy Hollow. It was bad enough that he was convinced the Headless Horseman was out there somewhere.

A lot of his nervous rambling was finally familiar and she couldn't help but to smile a little. "It's all right, Cole. I figure this," she gestured to her neck, "was a little more important than a change of clothes. And as long as it keeps everything covered, I don't mind."

She hesitated after she slipped in to the bathroom. There was no way she was able to get this off without pulling it over her head, which was disgusting thought in the first place with the heavy feel of blood in the cloth. The other problem was she wasn't sure she could get it off without at least a little bit of help with her arm in pain. Ileana untied the apron with her good hand and set it on the bathroom counter, hesitating before she poked her head out of the bathroom.

"Cole?" She hoped he wouldn't get awkward about this. Ileana could clearly remember that he was definitely likely to. "I might need a little help with, um...getting this off?"

Cole made sure the door was locked - just in case - while Ileana headed to the bathroom, hoping that the wolf wouldn't try to track down his scent. Vampires needed to be invited in first, and he knew there was no way he would be doing that, so at least they were safe enough in that sense.

Food was his next thought, and he made his way into the kitchen. Okay, so he knew what a fridge was; but something told him trying the stove was a bad idea. Maybe he had... leftovers? If she'd lost blood, then regaining her strength would be a good thing.

He turned towards the sound of her voice, briefly concerned that something was wrong. "Ileana? What is it?" At first her request didn't fully sink in, but when it did he suddenly felt very hot. "Oh. With your arm and... of course." Cole told himself to keep calm as he approached her, since he was just helping her and nothing more. "Can you lift your arm at all, or no?"

Ileana bit her lip to keep from giggling for a moment when she saw his face. He looked so flustered, even if a part of her was a little aghast she'd go and ask a man for help with something like this. It didn't matter, she reminded herself, because she needed the help otherwise she'd never get out of these clothes.

"I can lift it a little," she tried to rotate her arm a little. "I think if you can help me just get it off that side? So I can pull my arm out of the sleeve then I can be fine."

"Okay." Cole knew this wasn't proper, partly because he couldn't quite remember how he knew her and partly because... well, it just wasn't. Still, telling her no would have been rude, especially considering everything she'd been through.

All he had to do was make sure he didn't look like he was staring. The only problem was that trying to slip the garment off while looking away didn't work as well as he'd hoped.

It was hard to get past how awkward the air between them was, which was frustrating in some ways for Ileana. The problem with him not looking as he helped her out of the top was she was getting tangled in her own smock. Finally she just laughed, "This isn't working if you can't see what you're doing."

There was a part of her that really wanted to poke fun at Cole, but she stifled it. It took her a moment to compose herself to wiggle out of the garment, trying to ignore the how heated her cheeks went. She practically hid when she was free, "All right, I'm all set.."

The polite thing to do was avert his gaze, but he did have to admit that Ileana was right - he was practically useless like this. "Sorry. I suppose I'm just not used to... this." Helping women out of their clothing was something he'd never needed to do, although part of him whispered that he was overreacting; he'd seen women in lesser states of undress than this. Wait-- where had that come from?

"Oh-- okay. Uh, feel free to use the shower, and I'll... leave some clothes outside the door." Cole was beginning to realize that he wasn't exactly dressed normally, and he doubted the clothes he'd find in his room were anything like what he was currently wearing.

"I appreciate it," Ileana told Cole again. She shut the door after he stepped out and exhaled a long sigh. Really she'd rather have gone to lay down, but Cole was adamant that she shouldn't be sleeping yet. A shower seemed like it'd help keep her awake, hopefully she stay up till dawn. As she undressed the rest of the way, Ileana mused on the absurdity of the situation. It was hard, she realized, knowing that something is strange and not being able to pin why it all was weird.

It had to be one of the few times she wishes she was perfectly normal.

The shower did help with making her feel a little normal. The dried blood washing down the drain, even if it was a little struggle to deal with a swollen wrist. Stepping out of the shower, Ileana grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her. Shuffling a little over to the door, she grabbed the clothes that were outside the door with another quick "Thank you!"

A few minutes later, Ileana stepped out of the bathroom fully dressed. She made her way back in to the living room to curl herself down on the couch again, "I feel a bit better now."

He gave her a smile before she shut the door, exhaling heavily. With no idea how long the wolf and vampire would be running around, Ileana would have to stay here until it was safe to go out. He didn't have any stakes or garlic, although he did have a crucifix and some kitchen knives that might be able to work. Still, vampire hunting wasn't something he felt at all qualified for.

Cole went through the drawers in what he assumed was his room, frowning at how different the folded clothes were to what he was currently wearing. Everything would be too big for her, but in the end he chose a pair of sweatpants that didn't fit him anymore and a t-shirt. Leaving them outside the door in a neat pile, he headed to the kitchen to warm up some food for the two of them.

"I'm glad you're feeling better." He did feel sort of bad giving her leftovers - he had to remind himself that he knew what pizza was - but cooking wasn't one of his strong suits. "Here, you should probably eat something." Cole took a seat on the couch beside her, setting the plate of microwave-warmed pizza on the table along with a tall glass of water.

Ileana took a moment to recognize the food on the plate, but once she did she reached out for the plate. It was quiet while she ate one of the smaller pieces of pizza. Setting it back down, Ileana took a sip of water before she turned to Cole, "I'm really really glad I found you in the hall. I don't know what'd have happened if.."

It still was bothering her why she had such a fondness for this man, if she couldn't quite place where they had met before this. Her attention snapped back to him and looked a little bashful, "Does...do you know why we know each other?"

He tugged idly at his collar while she ate, wondering - not for the first time - why he was dressed in clothes that half of him realized were outdated. Whatever was going on, he really hoped it ended soon. "It was luck, I guess... if the wolf hadn't chased me up here, I probably would have made my way down to the-- lobby." Was that where he'd been headed? Cole couldn't quite remember. Outside, that had been his goal - whatever that was.

"Uh... no. Not yet, anyway." Cole knew that he knew her from somewhere, but the 'how' still eluded him. The level of concern he felt suggested that they were more than just friends, but how could that be? How could he not remember a relationship like that? "Do you?"
