I'm left to wonder if things get better, in a place like this.

905(a)

Did you settle in alright?

802

It seems I'm a little late to volunteer, but if you still need participants for your tribunal, I am fairly new and don't know any of the people that seem to be involved.

202

I still owe you a drink, I think. unless i'm not to be trusted

Is that so? What imperfect things draw your eye, Mister Not Bingley?

Imperfect people. People who try to be perfect generally are anything but.

Ambition there's nothing wrong with. Striving to do better and not settling, sure. But people who don't settle for their best? The ones for whom perfection is the only acceptable endgame? They're just driving themselves into madness.

That was a very masterful avoidance of my question. Would you like to try again?

Imperfect women. Particularly of the impossible, intelligent variety.

Ah, but we're all imperfect, so the whole of the species fits your first criteria. Do you have a gauge for impossible intelligence levels, Bingley?

I like to cast a wide net.

I do. But if I told you, there wouldn't be any mystery surrounding me any more.

If your mystery lies solely in your criteria for the acceptability of others, then that is a poor mystery indeed.

Read poetry; your net is more likely to catch something that way.

Well, not solely.

Really? Well, if you think it would improve my catch rate, I'll have to give it a try.

You do realize that you have a tendency to let absolutely nothing slip. Despite a million opportunities, you have let nothing about yourself slip.

Definitely not Bingley. You must be re-cast.

I await my new role with bated breath.

I'm not the detective, Detective. I'm the reader. I wait for the information to come to me - and it generally does, I find.
