[Posted about 2 hours before sunrise.]

[There's a bit of silence before her voice begins. It's clearly tired, though she tries to hide her exhaustion with a wry tone.]

To all the people who are still awake - there's probably like two of you - let's play a game.

[She takes a long pause, trying to collect her thoughts.]

Let's hear what tonight has taught us all. If you learned anything, put it here. [She laughs, the sound tapering out into a whisper.] Make it good.

[Faintly curious] What constitutes the 'very little'?

[short pause] I find you to be intriguing. There may be a handful of others that might have potential to hold my attention. Other than that, these rooms make me long for something different.

[Low laughter] The feeling is mutual. I feel I should apologize for my previous behavior, however. The audacity of being imprisoned in such a matter caused me to lose my temper. [There's no hint of anger now, merely his usual aristocratic charm]

I believe I may understand. At first I found this place fascinating, particularly the fact that I was in modern-day America... [A sigh] To be confined to one night, for those like you and I, is simply not right.

[a hint of smile in her voice] I accept your apology. I heard the voices before attempting to go out, myself. I suppose I was prepared for the door to not open.

I long to return to my own castle. Not this paltry imitation. And to be able to roam as I see fit. Take what should be mine. I'm certain you feel much the same, in your own way.

I have never encountered a door that could withstand my strength until tonight. Despite my displeasure, I cannot help but be slightly impressed by whoever - or whatever - orchestrated this.

I too have my own castle, far away from here. I did leave it, though my initial destination was England and not America - but I thought this city would work just as well as any other. [A pause, then with the faintest trace of longing:] I would like to return to Transylvania, however; at least temporarily.

I rarely travel far from my own home. Being here is... [she makes an annoyed, soft sound] less than desirable. Being given only a single night a month is even less satisfactory.

[Confidently] We will not be limited to one night a month for much longer. We are stronger and more intelligent than our counterparts, I believe, and I intend to find a way to make our presence far more permanent in the future.

[a long pause, then slightly interested] You truly believe that? [an odd, slightly humorless laugh] I've yet to even step outside this building. I suppose that would have to change.

I do. I am not prepared to simply sit back and let this nonsense continue. [A pause] Perhaps we may even be able to discover a way to return to our respective castles once again.

[another long pause, soft and slightly wistful] I would very much like to return to my own home, dear Count. If you would discover a way to do so, I believe I would be quite indebted to you.
