F E R N ~ Alert
Who: Potted Fern, you and anyone you want to talk to.
Where: Floor 39, Common Dining Area
What: Just, you know, a fern.
Warnings: if you need them, let me know.
Notes: This is a FERN post, ladies and gentlemen, first of it's kind. That means behind the cut are details on what you can do here! (to save space!) please, read on! LJ-Cut text sung to the tune of Just a Girl by No Doubt. You love me, you're welcome.

Notes: Okay folks, this is the first of the Open Fern Posts. What that means is this: did you want a random setting for a log? do you want to be overheard by one, potted fern? Here's a chance! I'll even make sure to start you off with an open for Steve. Treat this as a party-style post and tag into opens. Anything said in this post WILL be overheard by the potted fern hanging out. You've been warned. You can poke the fern, water the fern, but you don't know the fern is not a fern. The fern is just a FERN. Go Forth. Amuse me. *coughs*

It had taken Rogue a few days to figure out the best way to slip into a room and not be caught on camera entering the room. Or exiting afterward. The red-haired woman was still hurting, broken ribs took forever to heal, as did the other breaks and strains, and she was bored. But everyone was being so helpful, and open, and it was a delight. It made every single ache worth it. She still hadn't found Loki, yet, but there were so many interesting things...

She deftly slipped into the Common Dining room and settled down in the corner of the room by another small plant. She'd checked the area out a couple times, and decided that this was perfect and it was just outside of camera range. The bonus was she'd look like she'd hobbled over, sat down, then eventually hobbled out. She'd made a habit of coming here during the day so it seemed like a habit already. She looked around, and once sure no one was around, she focused and in the time it took the breath the Rogue was gone, and a living fern sat on the end table where she had been near, next to a vase containing fresh-cut sunflowers. With nothing to do for a few hours, she was content to sit, as a fern, and overhear the conversations that flowed around her.

The more you hear, the more you know.

“No, nothing like that,” Charles at least had the grace to look slightly sheepish about his own wealth given their discussion of Tony Stark’s. “I’ve taught multiple subjects as needed, but most recently I’ve been focused on administration. I am the headmaster of a boarding school,” he left out the word elite, which was the most important descriptor to his former students and especially their parents. “Well, I was prior to my abduction. The media was not kind and the difficult decision to shutter last school year was made in my absence.”

He shook his head. “My publicist is attempting to book a redemption circuit for me to rebut all the rumors, but I don’t know how wise that is given my escape. Plus I have decided on alternate plans for the estate. Which, I could actually use your assistance, Dr. Palmer. I am attempting to outfit a clinic similar to yours here.”

Christine listened as he discussed the school, and she found it interesting. Her parents had always tried to get her to attend private schools, more for religious reasons, and she'd managed to talk them out of it. Still, she would have looked hella cute in a school uniform...

"What kind of assistance? I'll be honest -- Tony paid for everything. I just told him what I wanted and needed and voila! Here we go. If you'd like a doctor to help outfit it ... well, I mean, I basically never sleep as is. We could definitely talk about it, especially if Stephen builds another portal..." And there was Christine, thinking in the future and not living in the moment again.

"Where is your estate? When you say estate, what do you mean?"

"Oh the finances aren't an issue, I just need to make sure I don't miss anything that's necessary. I left Moira in charge of her lab equipment, but I'd like to be prepared with a second location before any potential influx on refugees from Genosha." Charles assumed, and hoped, that it was only a matter of time, and solving the super soldier situation, before these heroes started thinking more seriously about rescue.

"My ancestral home sits on 688 acres in Westchester county, including quite a bit of the shore of Breakstone Lake. It's an ideal location, accessible, but quiet enough that someone new to a special skill might have some privacy and security to actually learn to use it." He sighed, "I know most of the young people who escaped are hoping for a way to turn off their new powers, but from my understanding of gene expression, I doubt that will be possible."

Ancestral home? That comment got eyebrows waaaay up and it gave Christine pause.

"Well," she said, "I'm happy to help however I can, whenever I can. My time isn't really my own but at the same time, I do manage to eke out a minute or two here."

"Because at the end of the day, I'm a pleaser and this pleases me." Another cheeky smile. "Now, tell me more about this ancestral home and please tell me you have a ball room. That'd be so dope."

ooc: ugh so so so sorry!! if you want, we can end here?
