F E R N ~ Alert
Who: Potted Fern, you and anyone you want to talk to.
Where: Floor 39, Common Dining Area
What: Just, you know, a fern.
Warnings: if you need them, let me know.
Notes: This is a FERN post, ladies and gentlemen, first of it's kind. That means behind the cut are details on what you can do here! (to save space!) please, read on! LJ-Cut text sung to the tune of Just a Girl by No Doubt. You love me, you're welcome.

Notes: Okay folks, this is the first of the Open Fern Posts. What that means is this: did you want a random setting for a log? do you want to be overheard by one, potted fern? Here's a chance! I'll even make sure to start you off with an open for Steve. Treat this as a party-style post and tag into opens. Anything said in this post WILL be overheard by the potted fern hanging out. You've been warned. You can poke the fern, water the fern, but you don't know the fern is not a fern. The fern is just a FERN. Go Forth. Amuse me. *coughs*

It had taken Rogue a few days to figure out the best way to slip into a room and not be caught on camera entering the room. Or exiting afterward. The red-haired woman was still hurting, broken ribs took forever to heal, as did the other breaks and strains, and she was bored. But everyone was being so helpful, and open, and it was a delight. It made every single ache worth it. She still hadn't found Loki, yet, but there were so many interesting things...

She deftly slipped into the Common Dining room and settled down in the corner of the room by another small plant. She'd checked the area out a couple times, and decided that this was perfect and it was just outside of camera range. The bonus was she'd look like she'd hobbled over, sat down, then eventually hobbled out. She'd made a habit of coming here during the day so it seemed like a habit already. She looked around, and once sure no one was around, she focused and in the time it took the breath the Rogue was gone, and a living fern sat on the end table where she had been near, next to a vase containing fresh-cut sunflowers. With nothing to do for a few hours, she was content to sit, as a fern, and overhear the conversations that flowed around her.

The more you hear, the more you know.

Kitty and Peter

"Well, before I got kidnapped and experimented on by a crazy scientist, I was a college student," Kitty said. The more time that passed since her escape from Genosha, the more comfortable she was talking about it, though she'd found it was easier to make jokes about it than actually talk about what she went through. Unless it was with Pete.

She shrugged. "Now, I'm trying to figure out how much of my life I can safely get back without getting kidnapped again."

Having been abducted by aliens when he was eight had seemed traumatic at the time, but it was nothing compared to what Kitty had gone through, "Yeah... so this is the part where I wish I could say something that makes you feel better."

Peter shoved his hands in his pockets, "I mean I'm sorry that it happened, But sorry is pretty weak when you're talking about being kidnapped and experimented on by a whack job." He shook his head, and blew out a long breath, "I mean if you decide to go kick the guy's ass, I'm down."

Fiddling with the cord of his headphones, he continued "...... but even if you aren't into the whole revenge gig, the universe isn't a safe place. Maybe all you can do is get your shit together the best you can and make sure you've got good backup."

Having grown up in a relatively safe suburb in Illinois, Kitty was fairly sheltered from just how dangerous the world could be, even after living in New York City for a few years. "I'm going to leave that decision up to people who are far more equipped to deal with that kind of thing," she said.

"But one of the people I talked to, Gamora, offered to teach me some self defense," she added.

"I hope that works out for you," Peter said with a smile. He meant it. He hoped that this girl would be able to stay safe by trusting in others. He hoped that those who were better equipped than her would always be there when she needed them.

He also hoped she took Gamora up on the self defense lessons, "It was nice talking with you, but I'll should you get back to your book." He began to walk away and then turned back, "I hope you get a chance to hang out with Gamora., she'll at least teach you fysa."

Kitty returned his smile. "You too," she said. Everyone here was really nice and that made her feel a lot better about being here. "I'm sure I'll see you around."

With that, she returned to her book.
