"Ah, yes, I met the sorcerer when I arrived in Midgard. I am glad he has good friends to rely on; I know that the lack of such can be difficult and even dangerous for a sorcerer.

"I was born in Asgard many years ago as you count time, and earned the honor of becoming Goddess of War. I have been friends with Thor since we were children together. Before the last few years, when Thor and Loki turned their attention here, I hadn't visited in a long time. Close to a thousand of your years. Now I serve Thor as one of his--I think the phrase is 'kitchen cabinet'? One of his informal advisers. And I work with the Avengers and SHIELD as needed." Sif had clearly explained herself often enough that she had developed a short speech to hit the highlights of her life that would interest anyone asking about her.

"When I was growing up, the Valkyries had long been disbanded. The Allfather was not keen on women warriors. So overcoming those discouragements has given me a special interest in the women of Midgard. Warriors in particular, but others who have succeeded in callings that are considered the realm of men."

It was like talking to a living relic, Christine thought. The amount of history this woman had seen...had lived </i< through. She listened in awe at Sif's story, shaking her head gently by the end of it "So women have the short end of the stick no matter what culture. Good to know," she said with a little laugh. "I don't know what an Allfather is, but MY father was also disapproving of my career choice. He's come to terms with it, but he refused to pay for my education which is why I have learned to be comfortable with the amount of debt I have." Only another 5-10 years... "Have you managed to get out much? Get to know New York? Eat a hot dog?"

And once Christine decided something, it was on.

"We need to go and eat hot dogs then. You can't live here and not get one. Ooh! And pretzels! In fact, we should just do the whole Coney Island thing, be a tourist. I bet you haven't done the amusement park thing either?"

Christine shook her head. "Yup. We gotta do this. I have some time off ...eventually...or at least a few hours I can sneak away at some point. Just tell me when's good! okay?"

	"I don't even know what an amusement park is, or where Coney Island is, so I would be delighted. And I have no schedule at present, barring emergencies, so I am at your disposal. Christine took out her phone and scrolled through her calendar. It was always a bit hit or miss when she was on-call, but thankfully her rotation seemed a bit ...well, manageable.

"I think I have some time next week....or a few weeks. I will text you, and please, don't think I've forgotten if it takes some time! I block time off, but then there's consults to write and paperwork in addition to whatever emergencies pop up, so pre-planning can be hard. Don't be surprised if I just send you a message and say 'today! in an hour!' because that's the best way I plan."
