Thor was in the center of the city when the strange phenomenon began. He could tell instantly that it was not a normal weather pattern. He was attuned to the air and electrical currents in the atmosphere, and this was not normal. As the crowd began to scatter, a smaller funnel broke away from a larger one barreling down 42nd Street. He was able to summon a counter-wind strong enough to unravel the smaller funnel, and as it dissipated, several large sharks dropped to the street, flailing and snapping wildly.

On the ground, Thor pulled one man out of the way after he'd been pinned by debris and was about to become shark food. One shark had not survived, and had been impaled on a lamp post. He did not know about the breed or how long they could survive out of their element, but he knew they were meant to be in water.

One by one, he grabbed each remaining shark by the tail and took off on the tumultuous air currents until he could toss them into the river. He knew he'd only stopped one small funnel, however, and taking the time to transport sharks one at a time was not reasonable. He needed to find a more efficient way. Not for the first time, he wished for Mjolnir back again. His abilities were enhanced still further now, but his control of them was not as precise as it had been with his beloved hammer.

It was then that he spotted the Valkyrie and headed straight for her.

Valkyrie had seen tornados before, even other kinds of 'extreme weather' but none, in any planet she had been to, had included wildlife in them. Or at least this volume of it, straight out of the ocean somehow, according to Thor. This made absolutely no sense, not that Valkyrie was a scholar of weather patterns or wildlife behavior. Given the reactions around her, this was just plain not normal.

She had been screaming at random citizens to go inside, many of whom did not live here, but she didn't care. Inside seemed better than outside for now, given they were away from glass entrances, windows and skylights. She had shielded a child before pushing her into the closest building with one hand while pushing away a shark with the other. Her arm hurt a little.

Her sword was out now, and she was actively trying to stab and throw the sharks away from people while still screaming at them to run inside and try to board the windows. Just as she cut the fin off of a shark and sent it sliding through the pavement, Thor ran her way.

"These people know you, right? Tell them to stop filming and go inside!" She screamed, though she looked as thankful as she felt to have him join her.

Thor was 90% certain that no one was going to heed him amidst the chaos, but the Valkyrie had asked it of him, and so he would try. He reached a hand up and summoned a bolt of lightning down to the ground, cracking open the street right in front of the Midgardian onlookers.

"People of Earth! Get inside! Stay away from windows! Save yourselves and your children!" he bellowed in his most commanding tone. But there were bigger fish to fry, so to speak, and he turned back to her. "I believe you wished to ride one?" he asked, smirking.

Sword at the ready, Valkyrie protected Thor from the sharks that flew in their direction while he attempted to make the humans save themselves. She turned as her sword sliced through a shark, and the blood flew at her face before she, too, addressed the humans.

"Heed Thor, Lor- God of Thunder! He's protected you before!" Another shark flipped over and away from the people. "Get as low as you can, do not leave before this is done. Lock the doors, board the windows! Please!"

Finally, as people seemed to heed their hero (and take pictures of him and some of her before running) Valkyrie turned to Thor. "I did. I do! I've never seen animals in such a storm but I've seen these storms. All we can do until it passes is try to save people and make these sharks not hit anyone or anything important. If I ride one and the storm it's carried on, perhaps I can try something." Really she just wanted to ride both wind and beast, but it wasn't a good look to say so. If she could she would even have ridden Hela's beastly wolf Fenris. Maybe she just really missed her winged horse. Val put her free hand on his arm. "No thunder on this one, just wind and fish, but you're still my vote for most likely to get this uncontrollable destruction under control."

Thor grinned at her, enjoying her confidence in him. He sank down onto one knee and cupped his hands together atop the other knee. "Step up. One comes this way. I had an idea, as well. I will loft you up upon a shark, and then I will try to push the funnel towards the river."

He wasn't sure it would work, but if he could steer one wind tunnel over the water and then set an opposing current to unwind it... he would need only do that many more times. But sharks safely in the water where they belonged were preferable to sharks flying at their heads.

"Ready?"

Valkyrie looked down at Thor as he knelt down, then smiled in approval as he explained his idea. "Alright... I'm intrigued. Tell me how I can help while atop a shark."

She stepped onto Thor's hands, keeping her balance by steadying her hand on his shoulder. Looking down, Val grinned excitedly, then looked over to where she would be thrown and sheathed her sword.

"Ready!"

Honestly, he'd assumed she wanted to ride the beast because it would be fun. "Hold on tight and don't get eaten?" he said. "You will see from your vantage point where the next is coming from," he added, because that would be useful. "We can pick them off one by one. When it reaches the river, leap to the closest tall building. It will save you swimming back among the beasts in their own habitat," he said.

Yes, that seemed like a solid plan. "Right. Hang on," he said as the tornado closed in. He pushed off, leaping high into the hair and tossing her right towards one of the fearsome beasts. His aim was impeccable, as he saw her land upon its back, and thankfully not in its mouth.

Once he had her successfully placed, Thor stood at the base of the funnel and summoned another wind to force it down the street towards the west. Slowly, the swirling miasma started to turn, spinning down towards the Hudson.

"CAN YOU SEE ANYTHING??" he called up.

Valkyrie couldn't help an amused cackle at Thor's advice. What a kingly thing to say, really. She wasn't sure she could really identify where the tornado was coming from any more than cardinal points or 'left/right' but she would certainly try. It was a stupid plan, the leaping, but if anyone was up for it, it was Val. Like hell she'd be eaten by a Midgardian fish.

When he said to hang on she did, nails digging into his shoulder armor as Val turned and flexed her knees slightly in order to spring towards where Thor would throw her. "Alright, make me fly, Majesty."

And he did. Valkyrie couldn't help release a whoop of sheer excitement as she sped towards the shark, grabbing onto its fin with one hand, then the other, and then hopping one leg over its form. Finally, she was riding the shark who rode the tornado, and she grinned over at Thor. Anyone else would have been too confused and frazzled to see, but Val had flown before, ridden flying animals before too, and wind was a common thing in those situations. She looked around, grimacing. She rode the tornado towards East River between two bridges, though she had one on her left and two on her right. She pointed to the right.

"IT'S COMING FROM NEAR THE LITTLE ISLAND OVER AFTER THE TWO BRIDGES." She pushed hair off of her face. "THE PEOPLE ON THE BRIDGES ARE GETTING DEMOLISHED!"

Thor forced the funnel further towards the river. "JUMP OFF NOW," he called up. They could find her another shark to ride on the bridges where they were most needed. When he saw the Valkyrie jump safely off the shark and onto a rooftop, he called up a counter-clockwise wind to push into the cyclone. It dissolved over the water, dumping the sharks in as it dissipated.

He climbed quickly to the top of the building and strode across to where she stood. "Shall we head for the bridges?" he suggested. Now that he knew how to level each funnel, they just had to try to protect the bystanders from the sharks. The bridges were surely more dangerous than any other spot in the city. If they could clear them, they could be shut down until they could guarantee everyone's safety.

The dismount was going to be one of the trickiest in Valkyrie's life, but she was nothing if not confident enough to put her worries behind her and try. Once the shark was right above a building Valkyrie climbed onto its back, holding onto the top fin, and launched forward, diving into a somersault in order to land mostly on her feet.

She didn't, as evidenced by the scuff marks on her left cheek and both hands. But it could have been worse. Valkyrie stood up and watched Thor push the cyclone into the water, not looking away until he was standing next to her.

"Yeah. There's a lot of cars, a lot of debris, a lot of people. It'll be a mess. It probably already is." She backhanded his chest. "C'mon. How're we getting there?"
