From Mordor to the Death Star

Yeah, okay, I don't want to sound ungrateful because I really, really appreciate being resurrected and I bet that's not going to bite me in the ass later, but I'm so not cut out for all of this. I'm the first one to admit I'm a total coward. Ask anyone! Sure, I did the self-sacrificial thing once but that was a total fluke — I'm the Gríma Wormtongue here, not the Legolas or Gimli. Thranduil turning his back on the dwarves when Smaug sundered Erebor? Me. All me. Actually, I wouldn't even be there — at least that guy showed up to see what was going on.

[...]

What I'm trying to say is: Somebody made a huge mistake bringing me here, and I'm totally going to mess this up. Do not pass go, do not roll for initiative, do not depend on me.

filtered to aziraphale.

Thanks for yesterday. And sorry for getting snot on your fancy handkerchief. Jane Austen always made it sound nice, not [...] you know.

Hey, Steve. Hey, Steve? What am I, 12? I'm doing REALLY great, actually. Forget you read any of this. It's the adrenaline talking. Or the caffeine. I've had, like, waaay too much espresso. Speaking of: I'm in a cafe? I think? I'm gonna be honest, space operas weren't my thing.

You okay? And the others? Did I -

What's a space opera? Actually you can tell me when I get there. Can you try and help me out a little? I'm not a, whatever those magic guys are in that movie with the teddy bears are.

Joke's on you, I'm always freaking out. I just got really good at hiding it most of the time.

It's a subgenre of science fiction. I can catch you up on the highlights, but don't get too excited. I'm more of a historical fiction kind of guy.

'When things are in danger, someone has to give them up, so that others may keep them.' I think that's how it went.

Yeah, you really weren't. But sure, man, if you say so. Better at hiding it than me, maybe. I don't know.

Eddie, man, that's not what I meant. I'm asking you to like, give me a direction to head in? Or a landmark or something. So I can find you. This place is huge.

What are you talking about?

eddie.
You're worrying me, man.

King Steve? Afraid of things? Fie on you! I won't hear such talk.

Oh, right. Deck one, follow the smell of coffee and the huge line of people. You can't miss it.

steve.
Sorry, it's from The Lord of the Rings. I have a chronic inability not to pull quotes out of my ass when I don't know what the fuck I'm get emotional. Ignore me.

King Steve has a lot of fears, actually. Yeah? What are you gonna do about it?

Thanks. I'll head down. Just don't, like, go anywhere? Or disappear, okay?

eddie.
It's okay. I just... I don't know. That worried me. But don't, like, worry about it. Oh my g Sorry, that word is starting to look weird.

K Make you listen to AC/DC.

Wouldn't dream of it.

steve.
You're a little late on that, man. Somebody's got to worry about you with all the saving-the-people-of-Hawkins you do. What's on your mind?

There's not a lot to say. But I want t could use the company.

That's it?

Good. Don't start dreaming of it either.

eddie.
What? I'm barely doing anything. The rest of them are the ones saving Hawkins. I'm just the idiot they use for distractions and brute force. You A lot. I don't even know where to start.

Sure. I think I can do that.

Oh, you want more torture? I could throw in Ozzy Osbourne.

You're in luck — my dream schedule is pretty booked.

steve.
Barely doing anything? Steve, you're THE leader in the group. We wouldn't have gotten anywhere without you. And who else looks after those kids?

Thanks. I need it owe you one.

What's with you and that guy?

Is it?

eddie.
I'm definitely not the leader. I'm the babysitter, Eddie. That's about it. Yeah, that's really it. I look after the kids. If there's a leader, it's Nancy, or fuck, Dustin. Not me, dude.

You don't, but maybe I'll think of something.

Not much, actually. He's not one of my favorites.

I have a pretty overactive good imagination.

steve.
Are you kidding? You and Nancy are the dream team, man. You guys make everyone feel stronger than they are. I mean, hell, you even got me thinking I could do things I never thought possible. So don't tell me you don't do shit.

I really do, Steve. [...] Harrington? I can go back to using your last name if you want.

Who is?

Yeah, I know.

eddie.
We're really not. I appreciate the pep talk and everything, but I'm not the ideas guy, or the motivation guy. I just do what I'm told, or stupid shit like jumping into that lake. And I watch the kids, who know more about all this crap than I do.

I don't want. But if it's too weird, I can go back to calling you Munson.

Are you really asking? Because I have a few ideas.

You - Do you now.

steve.
Yeah, I don't like any of that. But I can see this is going to take a lot more convincing, so buckle up, Strider. You're in for a ride.

It doesn't. I think after everything we've been through, we've earned that much.

Strider? Look, don't worry your pretty little head about it. I've accepted my role in the group already.

At the very least, yeah. So. Eddie it is.

It's mostly in the performance. He has a pretty big singing range, but it's the stage presence that really sells it.

You should give it a try. I think you'd like it, actually.

steve.

I'm not sure "biting the heads off things" is really stage presence, but I can get behind some theatrics.

You think so? I don't know if I'm cut out for that kinda thing.

eddie.
A king? I don't know if I'm a "rightful" anything except an asshole. Yeah, I like the hair. And

Oh yeah? That sounds almost complimentary.

Star Wars is probably the most recognizable space opera, which is basically a sci-fi story set in space with adventure and ware and has to do with the way the camera cuts to different characters and development as well. Star Wars is also basically a western in space. It has a lot of the common trademarks of a western, including bounty hunters, gunslinging (but blasters because space and sci-fi), and the main color choices of the protagonists and antagonists.
