Anyone interested in testing whether my adventures in divination have borne fruit? I could use the practise or the entertainment, really.

alicia.

I do owe you a reading, I believe.

Keep it simple. Don't try to do the complicated spreads. You can, but doing a 1 or 3 card is usually sufficient. If you want to do those complicated crosses, you can, but they're not usually necessary. But also in keeping it simple, do that with the meanings of the cards. Books and even teachers might have long, drawn out explanations for each card, but it'll be easier and more intuitive for you if you keep it simple. The Death card doesn't usually mean literal death but change or the end of one thing and the beginning of another. And so on.

Listen to your intuition and look at the cards. They've all got pictures, and the pictures are usually a kind of snapshot of a story. What's the story? Does it relate to you/whoever you're reading for? How? What sorts of guidance or insights are you looking for? How do the cards relate to that?

Read the cards for yourself. You'll get familiar with them that way, but you'll also develop those instincts. It'll also help you be mindful and intentional.

Which is also important, as is being open-minded.

As will stating your intention. Are you really trying to read the future, or are you trying to gain some insight into yourself and the world around you? Are you trying to impress people, or are you just killing time by picking up a new hobby? I personally don't think there's a right or wrong answer to this -- or any other divinatory practice -- only the answer that fits you. But it's good to know what you want to get out of it before you really go in and dedicate time to it.

Thanks for that. I'm sure you could have if you'd been asked, though.

If I'm anything, it's open-minded. Most of my life is the pursuit of new things and indulging my own curiosity and I certainly wouldn't have gotten very far in that regard if I wasn't willing to accept things out of my realm of experience.

I'll keep all this in mind. I appreciate it. How long have you been working with this?
