The last person Anakin thought he'd sense here was her. His wife. At first he thought his mind was playing tricks on him, giving into the wishful thoughts that had been floating around in his subconsciousness ever since this war began and he'd been pulled away from her in order to carry out the duties required of him. Keeping his marriage a secret, as well as maintaining it, had grown increasingly difficult lately, as having a padawan made it harder for him to find time to get away. Before he was assigned an apprentice, it was no problem sneaking away and taking off unnoticed to steal a few moments with her, but now? It wasn't that easy. If he tired to sneak off, Ahsoka would follow. Yes, she was supposed to follow him and he adored the kid in a sisterly manner, but she was starting to add to the problems of a marriage that was already strained.
He couldn't tell her, though. No. That would be exposing the secret and revealing that he'd broken the very codes he was teaching his padawan to uphold. How hypocritical of him. The irony of it was almost laughable; and he would have laughed, had he not thought that Padmé was worth it all. Worth breaking the rules, worth lying to everyone and sneaking behind their backs. For her, it was always with it.
And so, Anakin followed the feel of her presence in the Force, letting it's soothing aura guide him to her location as he ran with Force-enhanced speed. He wouldn't be moving this quickly if not for the disaster that had just struck the city. A million thoughts ran together in his head and crashed together like two misguided pods, whispering what if...
Anakin shook those thoughts away, knowing better than to let his paranoia get the better of him, especially in a situation like this. And besides, he was now at...the shelter? He had to fight to get that stupid Skywalker grin off his face. How typical. He should have known she'd do the sensible thing and come here of all places first. Of course she would.
He made his way down the hall - walking this time, not running - until he reached her room. The door was open. Anakin debated for a moment on how to approach her and despite himself, settled on formalities. Just in case. Clearing his throat, he moved in past the threshold of the open door. "Senator Amidala?"
