FACTS:
• The USGS called it the strongest earthquake since 1770 at 7.0 on the Richter scale.
• The major quake sent 33 aftershocks ranging in magnitude from 4.2 to 5.9.
• 3 million people in need of emergency aid after major earthquake.
• Most Haitians live on less than $2 a day.
• 80% of the population in Haiti is living under the poverty line.
• They are looking to relocate nearly 80,000 people from Port-Au-Prince.


We highly encourage all of you if you can, to donate $10. There are many, many organizations you can donate to that will help the people of Haiti. To quote RP_Tutorials "That's the SAME PRICE as 6 months of extra userpics, 2 renaming tokens, or 2 months of paid account time." We've donated ourselves and found that these methods are easiest & reliable.

Texting HAITI to 90999
The U.S. Dept of State's Web site suggests texting to donate $10 to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts. $10 will be charged to your cell phone bill. Or you can go online to organizations like the Red Cross and Mercy Corps to contribute to the disaster relief efforts.

If money is tight for you right now but you're still interested in helping we suggest looking at Be Extra - help tag earthquake photos to match faces with missing persons. We also strongly urge you to spread the word about how easy it is to help through your AIM away messages/profiles, Twitters, Facebook, MySpace, personal/icon/character directory journals - remember that it's a proven fact that kindness is contagious.
