Sweethearts Dance



WHAT: The Annual Sweethearts Dance
WHO: Current 6th and 7th Years, Hogwarts alumni from 1994 to 1997.
WHEN: Sunday, 5:00PM
WHERE: Hogwarts, Great Hall

The Great Hall is over-the-top but luckily not a deluge of pink. Flitwick and McGonagall charmed and transfigured things to smell sweetly, sparkle, glow in soft pinks and reds, and give a general romantic feel. Think the Yule Ball, where there are round tables set up around the perimeter and an open dance floor. There is an eight-piece orchestra that takes requests, giving contemporary music, even, a classical spin. There is food galore -- mostly sweets but some savory dishes as well. Rose-water punch and strawberry ice cream. Blackberry apple cider. Chocolates. Cakes. Customizable, charmed candy hearts are available to give to your date or your best mate. There are some WWW Valentine's pinwheel fireworks overhead. If you can imagine it, it's happening.

Feel free to comment below with your character's clothes, date, anything of note that happened. Also, feel free to enjoy your own threads or reactions or whatever. Really, have fun.

Draco shot her a look before shaking his head only to smirk a moment later at the kiss. "Glad you liked it - I didn't even have to ask Daphne or Tracey what to get you although I will say whatever you did to make them stay silent about your dress worked."

He took the box from her and pulled out the corsage, slipping it over her wrist. For a moment, he held her hand, admiring how well the roses complimented her outfit before letting go to offer her his arm. "Ready to go to the dance?"

Pansy smirked, her eyes flashing with amusement, "I didn't say anything to them, maybe they didn't want to help you since you took so long asking me to go," she replied.

"But you did do well matching," Pansy continued, admiring the corsage anew once Draco had slipped it on her wrist and pointedly ignoring the oddly nervous feeling that had steadily been creeping up on her.

"bugger all, I caught the jitters from Daphne," she thought to herself as Draco released her hand and offered his arm.

"I'm ready if you are," She said taking Draco's arm and smiling up at him.

Draco patted her hand lightly before leading her out of the common room. It didn't take them long to make it up to the Great Hall where the dance was now in full swing. He paused long enough at the door for them to admire the decorations before turning to look down.

"What did you want to do first?" he asked, wanting this to be her night. He was there to do whatever pleased her, even if it meant dancing all night long. "Looks like there's food for us and of course dancing."

Pansy was taken with the decorations in spite of herself, it was amazing the way the Great Hall had been transformed.

"I'm not really hungry," Pansy said, as her stomach flipped again in agreement and she mentally berated herself for being nervous around Draco of all people.

"Let's get some cider and wander around a bit before we dance," She continued smiling up sweetly at Draco.

Turning around, Chris saw another couple enter in and take in the decorations of the Great Hall for the first time that evening. Walking up he paused before them, "Smile," he chirped before raising the camera and clicking a picture.

Draco nodded and was about to lead her off to the table to get the drinks when he was ordered to smile right before a flash went off. Blinking at the stars that suddenly appeared in front of him, he watched as the boy walked off before looking down at Pansy.

"...did we just get ninja-photographed?" he asked, slightly surprised and a bit annoyed. Not that he minded pictures, especially not with Pansy but he usually preferred being asked first.

"Merlin!" Pansy hissed, blinking the spots from her eyes.

"Yes, I think that would be a good term for what just happened," Pansy replied, glaring at Stebbins' retreating form.

"I've never understood how holding a camera allows one to get away with being rude," she continued, rolling her eyes and wishing she'd been given a bit of warning before having her photo taken.

Draco shook his head, watching as Tracey actually posed for her picture. A chuckle escaped him before he could stop it. "You'll have to wrangle Daphne's away from her so you can tease her," he commented. "Seeing as how Tracey just posed which limits the teasing there."

Taking her arm again, he led her over to the drink table, getting her a glass of cider before getting one for himself.

Pansy laughed softly, looking across the great hall to where Theo and Daphne were dancing,

"I think I may have other things to tease Daphne about after tonight," she said smugly, "That's not fair, Tracey got warning before the ninja photo, I don't even know if I want to see ours, we probably look like owls," Pansy continued, accepting the glass from Draco and sipping at the cider as she watched the room.

"I hope I'm doing more with my life once I'm out of here so coming back for a school dance is the furthest thing from my mind" Pansy said with a sneer as a few Alumni walked past.
