There is nothing so dull as waking up and carrying about a day to day existence wherein nothing changes.

I suppose I prefer it here.

You could say that.

How are you this evening, Sadako?

Oh, I'm well! There's a breeze and it's blowing into my home. The ocean smells like freedom. I can't stand stagnant, still water.

I know exactly what you mean, though I cannot empathize with your reasons. Ever since I decided to stay here, near the coast of the Atlantic, I've regretted selling that boat. Perhaps I should find a better one, more suited to my tastes.

It would be a nice evening for some company.

You should get a sailboat. Motors ruin the adventure.

Would it? Perhaps I could arrange to go to the United States. Unless you would prefer it here.

I haven't been to Japan for anything but business for about 40 years, now. I would very much like to see what's become of its more rural areas. All I've seen of it recently is Tokyo and Osaka.

Oshima is a small island, and even less so where I live. There was an accident of sorts a few months ago, people do not want to live here for fear of sickness. I am one of the few remaining.

I'll fix myself some tea.

How else should I phrase it, Erik? And come in an hour and twelve minutes - that will provide you enough cover as well as allow me to eat something. I'm sure the human consumption of food must nauseate you, if you do still get nauseous.

I usually stay up past dawn, but it's rare that I'm up well into the afternoon. There's not much to do during the day, I'm stuck in the house until sundown.

And you are also immortal? In what fashion?

They are from Gallifrey, so it stands to reason you may not have heard of them.

Well... that I do, most of the time. I meant as far as my name being beautiful. My father would say it fits me for that reason too.

... not that I am fishing for a compliment. That came out kinda bad.

Okay since you are too damned gorgeous to be a zombie, I'm going to ascertain that you are a vampire?

As I said, I'm stuck indoors for now, but if you'd like, I do have a fine home. I'll alert the staff that we're expecting company.

I'll have one of the maids escort you to the room I'm in, as I personally have no clue what they call the rooms in my own home. The whole place is like living in a damned castle.

As opposed to the other reality, clearly.

It's been a long time, on both our parts. I stopped praying hundreds of years ago, and I assumed that you'd stopped looking over me after my turn. Presumptuous of me, I know.

Pardon me for being curious. I thought maybe you meant something like Cleveland or Miami rather than Greenwich.

You started life as my child, you will end life as my child. Where you believe your soul belongs, or your allegiance lies matters not to me. I look after all my children, be they immortal or mortal, demon or angel.

My apologies. I was far more cold than you deserved. I just haven't gotten to sleep yet.

I do have my doubts over how great an idea it was to spread your faith to new lands, in hindsight. They have butchered the very faith that they claim to be practicing. I do hope that here, your followers are less... passionate in their choices of what to claim as good or evil.

You don't have to apologize to me, pumpkin butt. I know your idiosyncrasies.

Unfortunately when you give people free will, it literally means they are free to do as they please, no matter if I would rather they speak out about their faith in me rather than take it to a different level. Extremists of any chosen religion are beyond dangerous, be it Islam, Catholicism, or any other sect.

But I am lucky in that most people here acknowledge who I am, that I exist, and even partially believe in my message, even if they can't quite believe in me. It's fantastic.

I suppose that's always going to be the case. There was a time "your word" nearly had me killed. I thought it ironic. Still, your strength inside me was enough to let me get by. That and the power given to me by my maker.

I do enjoy being able to put a face to your presence, though. It does help matters considerably. And of course, it is a beautiful one. I could have guessed that from the start. As they say, you made us in your image, and you are perfect. Flawless beauty seems perfect for you. Though, if I were to try and suck up, I could start hitting on you.

Though I doubt that would end well.

I'm not unable to admit I've been ashamed of the human race from time to time, sugar.

Oh stop, please. You're making me blush. Besides, this is just one of the many faces I use here.

Oh darling, you've been living under a rock for awhile if you think hitting on me would end badly. I assume you've heard nothing of my reputation?

Yeah....about that. I sort of went all vengeancey and wrathy again. I mean, I'm still sweetness and light, but I pretty much gave a specific section of people the right to kill in my name. They get a predestined list of supremely lowlife scumbags and they go take vengeance upon them. I actually gave all my vampires and demons the same type of list, so they can kill but leave innocents and the mostly innocent alone. I've gotten ruthless in my old age.

Only if by good you mean very, very bad darling. Satan's not the only one who can be naughty.

If you would be so kind as to supply me with a similar list, I could do my best in sticking with it. I don't want to step on any toes in this world, especially yours, now that you're all fire and brimstone.

And as you're well aware, I'm very far from any realm of goodie two shoes, myself.

If there's anything I can be all right with, it's the idea that God is whatever God wants to be. It was what I was taught by your missionaries over a thousand years ago, and it was why I converted in the first place. It made more sense to me than dozens of deities being one simple thing to themselves, only looking after one aspect of humanity.

Provider, sustainer and destroyer, all in one. And I'm sure you provide, sustain, and bring to an end anything as well as you do lives. It is your way.

I think you might just very well be the most perfect believer I've ever had. You understand me better than even my own cardinals and bishops. Oh yeah, btw if you didn't know, I'm the Pope here. Kinda screwy, ne?

And now for the question on both of our minds...do we or don't we? I can assure you that I am far from a strings attached kind of girl. I don't require monogamy and I like playing the field. So, care for a little dalliance with the Lord?

It is because I learned about you long before the faith became corrupt and deluded. And better you than the one that was in the papal office where I'm from -- That man looked like a bad guy out of those cheesy sci-fi movies with the walking carpet and Harrison Ford.

And I have no desire to be in any sort of relationship, romantic or otherwise, but something tells me that turning you down would be something I'd regret for ages to come. You know where to find me.

It saddens me to see what humanity has done to my faith. But they have made their way back in some ways, taken steps behind in others.

There have been a select few that have said no. They may or may not regret it, but they have no idea the pleasure they turned down. What is your schedule like, darling? Do you have time for me tonight?
