It's very different here than it is at home, and different from what I was taught it was like here.

I'm not sure yet whether these differences are good or bad, though I'd believe towards the good because I'd like to believe that people are inherently good, though some of them try very hard not to believe it, even of themselves. Just human nature I guess.

What's your story? Where were you before, and what would you be doing if you were still there now?

I was in a place called the Abarat, trying to stop Mater Motley from releasing the Requiax.

It's a long story.

Sounds like it would have to be. Is it a good story?

Sometimes.

With all stories, there are moments that are light and dark.

True. That's how it is with lives too.

Though, we are the stories of our own lives, so that makes sense.

Exactly. That was why Candy and I had to fight - Mater Motley wishes to obliterate the Light. You can't have one without the other.

Exactly, balance in all things. Can't have a shadow without a light to cast it.

Exactly. You understand. I'm Princess Boa.

I'm Candy.

I was technically in this place's future? I mean, I was born in the amalgam, but everyone seems to think I'm supposed to be a toddler.

I was- am, technically the First... something. I don't remember the wording, I tried not to think on it too often. The first real union of the Christian Heaven and Hell. Sort of like Jesus, with Heaven and Earth, and my cousin with Hell and Earth. Unfortunately, that's where people stop being specific about... anything.

Certainly sounds like quite a combination. And a complicated one.

With that sort of tangle I'd think the most important question is: What do you want to be?

One of my fathers was an Angel, one a demon. They weren't supposed to fall in love, they did, and I appeared. There's a book about the first part. I'm just the pretty blonde epilogue.

Honestly? Left alone would be nice. There isn't really a Good or Bad, anymore, at least not in the 'virtue/sin' dichotomy. A lot of people get by just fine living in the Grey until their time is up. Unfortunately, mine's not going to be up for... a while. And that feeling of... purposelessness? Isn't a good one, from what I hear. Thankfully, I have a few years before anyOne wants me making any decisions.

Nothing wrong with being an epilogue. Means you get to make your own story, give them something to write about. Live a life worth writing.

You don't find many men so young, with that kind of faith in people at large. I'm just as likely to end a religion, as I am to renew it.

Nothing wrong with that. Nothing's meant to last that long, especially religions.

I'm from... well, some time in the future, no one religion in particular has lasted through the exodus into space, but pieces of them have. Individual teachings.

I was dead. At peace. Went through the whole nine... days, hanging off a tree. It was nine days... I'd probably still be dead, if whatever this was hadn't brought me back.

Strange, that this place would take you from where you were at peace. From what I've seen so far it takes people who need a change for the better.

I'm guessing I hadn't served my purpose yet. They didn't want to let me go through with it all. I remember that. But I told the man- Wednesday. I told him I would do it, and I drank his mead, so I did it.

Traditions to uphold, pacts to be kept. Everything would fall apart otherwise.

You sound like a man with a story. Everyone's got one of course, but yours sounds somewhat more involved than most people allow themselves.

You sound like you have one yourself.

But yes, I had one. I only remember the larger details, though. Something went wrong, on my way back. Or on my way there. I lost things. A lot of things. So much, I couldn't even tell you what was gone.

I haven't got much of a story of my own yet, just knowing a history that hasn't happened yet, may never happen. It's... oddly humbling, really.

Best way to start fresh isn't it? Lose everything from before.

I was a Muse there.. I imagine I'm a muse here as well. I inspired tragedy, and I'd like to think I'll continue doing it here as well. At least if anyone wants to be inspired.
